Heating pad and lots of walking helps. It seemed to me every time I stood up or was in the standing position, I was burping like mad. I didn't have gas pains except for on day 8 so can totally understand how you feel and I didn't have to deal with them longer than 5hrs.

New.....but Very Impatient!!
wildrose1966 replied to kidlaa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you. You indicated that you are very impatient. On thing you need for lapband surgery is patience. Unlike some other weight loss surgeries, LB does not happen quickly, and that can certainly mess with your mind and be very frustrating. Alot of us who have had surgery within the last month are not losing right now and in fact we are told not to expect to lose for the first 6 weeks or until we get proper restriction and that could be months. Lots of willpower, portion control and good choices will be needed and the band does not work on its own, it is a tool, you have to do all the hard work. good luck -
Gas x makes them in strips that you just put under your tongue. For me, pills were okay if they were the size of a m and m. I took my painkillers the same day as surgery, just broke them in quarters.

My dr made me do Optifast pre op and now that is the only one I can drink. It is costly, but as I start eating more solids I am trying not to drink my Protein. Pre op I found that ice cold, blended with a straw made it easier. I guess I aquired a taste. I tried alot of Protein drinks and foods and returned or threw out all of them . GNC does have a 30 day return policy if you are testing them out now.

I started stool softener the day after surgery..........not working as good as I would like, but things are moving a bit. 3 weeks out.

3 Weeks Post Op - Traveling For The Weekend
wildrose1966 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out on pureed and blenderized and am traveling for work this weekend. Hotel rooms and hosting clients at a football game. I know I can do the yogurt, cream of wheat for bfast, and soup for the other meals as I am sure not going to ask a restaurant to puree my meat for me, and I am going to bring some of my optifast to help out especially for the football game in a catered suite. My instructions say thinned mashed potatoes, pasta.........so I can probably get away with a small portion of pasta, well chewed if I end up in a restaurant setting. Have been doing so great with eating my chicken protein this week, I suppose if I could find a rotissere chicken well cut up and chewed I could possibly get by on that too. Any other suggestions would be great. -

Thanks...... -
As the swelling goes down you will get more hungry. I am on pureed and blenderized as well, my 3 weeks is on monday. I am eating 4oz per meal 3 meals and 2 Snacks. I can feel myself getting more hungry daily. One of my meals was 3oz meat, 1oz cheeze, pureed. the other was 2oz meat and 2oz potatoes. I may have to go up to 5oz but am really trying to follow my instructions. I can have 3 snacks 1-2 oz. I am also having a shake in the morning just to sustain me til lunch. Again, trying not to drink my food or Protein. Keep sipping Water, that might fill you more.

Banded Yesterday And Straving
wildrose1966 replied to onexl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keep sipping Water. Not sure what your food plan is but on day 2 I graduated to yogurt, pudding, Soup (cream). I wasn't hungry at all the first week, but needed to stay hydrated. Anything you can add Protein to will help fill you a bit as well. Good luck and congratulations. -
I am 3 weeks on Monday...........lost 9 pre, lost 10 the first week and the scale has not moved. I have graduated to eating blenderized and pureed and walk about 40 min/day (trying to get in 4-5 days this week). Nothing has moved, in fact I think I have gained 1 or 2. I am not worried, am still probably not eating enough - approx 800 calories/day, but I am getting there and feel good. The rest will take care of itself when my body realizes that I am not starving it and my metabolism kicks in.

I used the powder and just mixed it in my yogurt - od'd a bit and had some problems on day 4 but that resolved itself. I am 2 weeks out and still need some help in that department.
-
It will come, take some gasx and keep sipping. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you best start getting some stool softener in you too You certainly don't want problems on that end.........(sorry). Feel better soon.

Probably gas from surgery, I got it on day 8 post op and day 16 post op........with all the gas passing I have been doing, I am surpised there was anything left in there.
-
If you haven't try standing up, I was burping like it was my job and it seemed that everytime I stood up out it came.

27lbs is great, considering 6 weeks out of the 8 you were in healing mode and not alot of people lose during those 6 weeks. You weren't eating enough for your metabolism, so that pretty much shut down. I was told first 6 weeks don't expect weight loss. I think 27lbs is good. I also think that you should have had at least 1 fill.......bring it up with your dr.

Why not just break them instead of crush them. I was told pills the size of an m&m is okay.

Bruising will last for a bit, apart from walking, not sure you should be working out just yet.

Best Dinner Ever...............
wildrose1966 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
...........or at least in the last 30 days. Okay, I am a bit excited, just graduated to pureed and blended............2oz of blenderized chicken w 1oz chedder (that was the consistancy of thick mashed potatoes but oh so good. 2oz of out of the box mashed potatoes...............that was oh so good. Topped with 1/4 c gravey from a bottle (25cal/1 g fat/1 g prot/3 carbs), to keep everything moist. It was soooo nice not to be slurping and worrying if my dinner was going to fall off the spoon or splash out of the cup. Now to prepare lunch for tomorrow and puree some veggies to balance it out a bit. I was so excited to have chicken, I went the quick route. Now to plan a bit more and throw in the good and healthy stuff. Blenderized chicken ............ is kind of nasty, but it does taste like chicken. Think refried Beans will be next. Today was a good day............(it is the small things that make us happy at this stage). -
About 2 weeks for me.

How Do I Deal With An Unsupportive 'best Friend'???
wildrose1966 replied to cindroo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would say that yes I have had the surgery and that it was a personal decision, if I didn't have it I would die (I used that line) - maybe not today or tomorrow, but sooner than my friends. I would then tell her that you value her friendship however this is a subject that is absolutly off topic if you are going to continue your friendship. You know how she feels, you have listened to her and it's over, you will not entertain the conversation with her ever. You are right, a true friend would not treat you that way, so I guess it depends how much you value her friendship. If you have not spoken since Jan, I would say that this friendship is on the way out anyway. (and she still hasn't apologized) Just my opinion........I would do the fade and stop responding. Surround yourself with supporters!!! -
I drank peppermint tea my first 3-4 days and took lots of gasx, heating pad and lots of walking. I didn't have gas pains (I did have lots of farting and burping the first 2 weeks) until day 8 under my shoulder blade for about 6hrs and day 16, yesterday near my shoulder, neck for a few hours. Not sure if it really worked or not, but I did everything I knew to prevent it.

When you are awake, shuffle around as much as you can, tomorrow, walk down the driveway......keep moving, trust us, it will help......pace the living room. In the next few days you are going to need a stool softener too, just saying.......you don't want that to become a problem
