Having Trouble Getting My Calorie Intake
wildrose1966 replied to lilbrigy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are only 2 weeks out, it will come. It is hard to drink 1000 healthy calories, once you heal more and the swelling goes down and you graduate to other foods you will up your calories. I am 4 weeks out and in 'hell' could eat huge meals but really working on sticking to a cup..............first fill next week. -
I do not eat cottage cheese, however, put it in a blender and liquify it and then add it to your soup, makes it a bit creamy and adds Protein.

Protein Shakes - How Much Is Too Much?

Carnation Bfast shakes were on my surgeons list when I was on full liquid........could not stomach them and went back to the Optifast. -
Protein Shakes - How Much Is Too Much?
wildrose1966 replied to RachelC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I emailed my clinic (i did that alot) and they say that you can't hurt yourself or your band by drinking too much - it flows right through. As the swelling goes down, you will become more hungry and drinking is okay. -
I was told Wendy's chili in a blender was fine.

5 Days Post-Op

Good for you, and maybe tomorrow make a coffee date with a friend. Just something to look forward to and to get away from the television and out of the house. -
5 Days Post-Op
wildrose1966 replied to Msdropinoff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 days post op you should be able to get out and about. I was already off meds by then so I visited my gramma, walked laps of walmart, went out walking on the trails, met a girlfriend for tea...........there is no reason unless you are in severe pain that you have to be stuck and bored at home. Get out of the house. -
Two Days Till Surgery!!!!!
wildrose1966 replied to Tiffany3280's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everything happened so fast for me I didn't have time to really take it all in and be nervous. I had mine done at a private clinic.........They took me in at 745 and I was on the operating table by 8 and home by noon. I had no pain but took pain killers for 24hrs just in case. Sipped alot of water, took my gasx and slept with my heating pad. It was just a haze for me the first 24hrs as you are still pretty medicated. You will do just fine. -
Personally, I wouldn't deal with the 'what if' stresses of not having insurance after Oct. You also need to figure out how much your fills and appointments are going to cost you if you don't have insurance. You never know what could happen that you might need it. Yes you can probably get it without a pre op, that is your surgeons decision. I could have never have gone back to work after surgery and if you read here most need at least 5-7 days off. You don't want to be stressed out about insurance, having to work and recovery. It is a choice between you and your surgeon, but in my opinion, you are not setting yourself up for a successful recovery. So sorry you have been given the runaround.

I Am So Hungry!!
wildrose1966 replied to amygibson82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to be eating things that are high in protein that will keep you full. If you make soup add protein, perhaps blenderized cottage cheese. Smoothies with protein powder...........get the protein in. Cream of wheat is not on the full liquid plan. You are almost half way thru the liquids............keep going. -
8 days......could have gone back to my desk job 4-5 days, but I had a good recovery, no pain at all, good sleeping, no gas (gas has changed - 4wks post op ouch)

Having Trouble With Liquids
wildrose1966 replied to hubmacfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ice cold blended, drink them thru a straw to get away from the smell and add some flavoring. SF syrups or decaf instant coffee. -
You are not naked when you get on the OR table and you are not naked when you wake up in recovery, that is all you need to know. (I kept my undies on and they were on properly when I woke up so pretty sure they stayed on)

Anyone In "mushy" Phase?
wildrose1966 replied to Lmi346's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I threw chicken in the blender........looked nasty, but tasted really really good. Cream of wheat, soups, well cooked pasta, mashed potatoes.......it is a rather boring stage. tuna salad, chicken salad, refried beans -
Anyone After The Surgery Had Some Weird Dreams.
wildrose1966 replied to Rocio43's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like making out with my ex boyfriend kind of weird dreams??? -
I am 4 weeks out and although I didn't have the gas pains at the beginning, I get them about every 2 days now, in my shoulder, when I am sitting. Standing helps. And the burping and farting don't go away - sorry to tell you, at least not at week 4. I would also get a stool softener in you, that might make you feel better.
-
KLL when you use coke when you are stuck, is it flat or carbonated???
-
4-6 week, until your wounds are healed and no scabs.
-
Like I said, I am no expert, but I did get a 'bible' from my surgeons office outlining all stages of my eating and days 14-20 are kind of what I outlined. "all food should be similar to the consistency of baby food, solid pieces of food may obstruct or block the stomach opening' - that is enough to scare me.
-
No expert here, and my dr's office didn't call it mushies. I went from full liquids (yogurt, soup, pudding, smoothies) to pureed and blenderized.........no chunks, no oatmeal, nothing with seeds, everything smooth and blenderized or pureed. Chicken, tuna salad, cottage cheese, blended beans, pureed scrambled eggs, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, blended veggies, soups. I am thinking if your surgery was only 2ish weeks ago, this is where you might need to be. I would stay away from the waffle and the oatmeal. You might have to continue to drink some of your protein, but I did this stage about 10 days ago and the blenderized chicken wasn't that bad. Oatmeal or shakes for bfast.........it is rather a boring stage.

Gaind 4 Lbs 13 Days Post Op :"(
wildrose1966 replied to vmarlau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your first 6 weeks are for healing. You have put your body into starvation mode and therefore your metabolism has come to a screeching halt. Your body is holding onto everything it can get. Until you start eating real food and upping your calories and regular exercise, you body is going to fight you. Put the scale away..........now is the time for healing. -
If you don't like either, just keep with the yogurt and smoothies for bfast. Cream of wheat and grits might keep you full longer. My cream of wheatralso included pureed scrabmled eggs, blended cottage cheese.........those might be options. (no oatmeal or seeds yet though)
