    How Soon

I was told nothing but walking for 6 weeks.
  2. Put the scale away for the first 6 weeks. Your body is in starvation mode from the liquid diet and post op and is hanging onto everything you feed it. Your metabolism is almost non existant so until you are eating regularlly and exercising, your body is going to play weight tricks on you. I am 5 weeks out. I lost 9lbs pre op and 10lbs the first week post op and not one single lb in the 3 weeks after that. Things are starting to move now that I am eating normally and getting my exercise. Also keep in mind, your band is not working for you right now and that may not happen for weeks or months. Now is the time for healing.........good luck.

    Gas Pains

Sure is..............I had them regularly until 4 weeks post op, they usually came on when I was sitting, went away when I stood up and started walking. (all my gas pains were in my left shoulder.)

    Exercise Calories On Myfitnesspal

Thanks.........I try not to use them (my spin class adds 800 calories - never would I eat an additional 800 calories - thinking extra piece of fruit or something), but nice to know I can use some to suppliment if I feel I need extra, especially after a workout.

    No Support Help

I want this bad enough that I drive 6hrs each was for appointments and fills. I would be hesitant to suggest you going back to Moncton, but if the clinic there is still running and you are comfortable with the staff, I would give them a call and get in as soon as you can, if they will see you. (I had to sign off on contract with my surgeon as to how I would contribute to my success.) Good luck.

    No Support Help

I am shocked that you have only had 1 post op appointment and by the sounds of it have not had a fill. I don't think that this could even count as an attempt to lose weight as you have not had fills, you have never had a 'working' band and you have not taken the responsibility to follow up with your medical professionals. Not to be mean, but you should have had at least a few fills, you should have had post op visits about every 6 weeks and every year. Pretty much you got a foreign object inserted inside of you and continued on with your life. My suggestion to you is to find a lapband doctor/surgeon/clinic who will take you on as a patient and start from scratch. I would want them to do extensive testing on my band and port and stomach to make sure nothing has slipped or stretched and then start getting fills. I am sure that you can start over with the right support, doctor, nutritionist, but you have to take ownership in not taking care of your band and being responsible for your follow up. Good luck and keep posting.

I didn't have bandages, just steri strips and at my post op appt on day 7, she told me to rip them off..........

4 Days Post Op Why No Dairy?

I was on full fluids 2 days post op..........included milk (not ice cream)
  17. I used a powder and just sprinkled it in my food, yogurt, pudding, soup.

    Blender Advise Needed! Lol

Nope, I have 2 blades, use the larger one and it just spins the ice. I have to sit there a pulse it or let it run til it disintegrates the ice and there is not even slush. I like it otherwise. but never get crushed ice.

    Confused!?!?

I am just a newbie and I am 5 weeks out. I am quickly realizing that the band does not work instantly, and regardless how much I prepared myself and how many people on here told me, I have to say I am a smidgen disappointed that I have not lost a single ounce since 1 week post op. I know right now I can eat anything, I am hungry and really working hard to control everything that goes in and the exercise. (I think they call it bandster hell) Common sense tells me that I am 290lbs and eating 900-1200 calories a day and walking, and I should be losting, but I am not, need to figure this out............I am frustrated that I may not have restriction for weeks or months and I suppose I just hoped that it would kick in right away (regardless what I have been told). I have my first fill next week and will continue to work hard until I have restriction, be it one week or 1 year. I know we can all do it, just need to find my patience and hope this thing works for me sooner rather than later.

    Blender Advise Needed! Lol

The bullet is good for puree and blending, it does not crush ice, it just spins it, unless you let it run forever and then it isn't slushy, just more fluid. I like my bullet except for the lack of ice crushing.

    First Post Surgery Dr Appt?

My nurse was just at a Allergen conference and said that one of the things they spoke about at the conference is something called micro fills. Like elcee described, small regular fills and when you are close to restriction.........micro fills, tiny ones. I am going for my first fill next week so will ask some more questions about that, because I travel 6hrs each direction for my appts.

    First Post Surgery Dr Appt?

I think it is 4-6 weeks for your first fill, if your dr thinks you need one.

    In Recovery

    Don't forget stool softener.........trust me.
  25. Who knows........I seem to get mine on in the evening or a lazy weekend, when I am not moving around as much as when I do during the day or a sunny Saturday. If I stand up and walk around it usually goes away.......good think I over bought gasx prior to my surgery, I have enough to last a year at least.
