Drink something, go for a walk, have more soup, go to bed............the phrase my clinic used that cleared me of any cravings was..........'you don't want to pop a stitch' - yikes.

If you have been napping for the last 10 days, your body is probably use to it and expects it, you need to stop the napping and fight thru it.

    Post Op Survival Kit

Don't over think this, I did and probably threw out about $100 worth of stuff I bought and didn't use our couldn't stomach. I think the key things are gasx and heating pad. Eventually during that week you will need to add a stool softener (and 7 weeks later I still need it). You will not feel like eating/drinking, so at least make sure you get your Water in. Bring running shoes for walking and don't wear white as your incisions will be oozing a bit. Everything else you can manage when you are at home. Don't get freaked out about your Protein in the first few weeks, it will be nearly impossible to get in 70 grams. I bought more Protein powder, drinks, puddings that I couldn't stomach and ended up throwing alot of it away. GNC offers a 30 day return policy on all if its products so if you are unsure if you will like something, perhaps try to purchase it from there first. I never used icepacks for anything and you are not handicapped, so don't take room from someone that is - shave your legs the night before. You will be tender and maybe have gas pains, but the more you get up and move, the better. Good luck to you.

    Do I Have A Leak?

My office puts my fill in the needle, finds my port then pulls all my fluid out of my band to measure it and then puts it and my new fill back in..........I then have to sit up, with the needle still in me and gulp a cup of water to make sure it goes down okay, if everything is good, the needle comes out and the fill stays in.

    Wth, Gained Weight

Regardless of what is in your band, you should be eating like a banded person, not normal portons. Our normal portions are 1 cup or 8 oz of food per meal, 3 times a day, plus 2-3 snacks of 3-4 oz. This is what I was told my new pouch would hold. Go back and look at your information from your surgeon and get back on track with your maintenance meal plan - for life. Get that protein, water and exercise in and you should do fine.
  13. I didn't find out until my first fill 6 weeks post op that there was the possibility of fluid in my band. I was told that during surgery they have to test the port and tube and there could be 1 to 3 cc's still in the band. She pulled out 1. I don't think it was an intential fill, just leftover from surgery.

    1St Fill

I was told that I shouldn't let myself get to the omg I am full stage, it should be I am satisfied and stop stage. Which for me is difficult as I don't think I know what satsfied feels like as I always ate to omg I am full. It certainly is a learning curve, but I am only eating a cup or 8 oz of food, waiting and if I am hungry in a few hours will have a snack. I weigh and measure everything and eat and wait...........My surgeon is of the slow fill theory so I only get 1cc per fill..........

    Full Liquids Started Today

I added cottage cheese to the blender with those soups, added more protein. Greet yogurt, pudding - my list also included carnation instant breakfast, smoothies (no seeds), pretty much if it falls off a spoon and has no lumps or seeds, I could have it...........

    Mushy Stage.

As the swelling goes down you will get hungrier, your band isn't working for you right now, so you have to be conscience of what you are eating...........follow your dr's instructions and you will be fine.

    Is Benefiber Ok

There was absolutly stuff moving for me and my clinic seemed most concerned that I have a BM in the first 5 days post surgery when I was on liquids. They brought it up to me pre surgery and phone me the day after surgery to remind me to take stuff to get things moving.

Not Sure If Eating Enough !!

My opinion is that you are drinking too much of your calories, no fresh fruits or veggies. Make a sandwich on toasted bread, or bring cold cuts or mixed tuna/chicken and put them on rice cakes or crackers. Try to stop drinking your meals and eat them, add more protein and good luck

    One Week To Go!

    ....and stool softener.
  22. You are doing just fine and I agree with those who said that 20lbs a month might be too much. I am very concerned at how you reacted to a 2lb gain and am wondering if it would help if you could talk to someone professional about your fears of weight gain. There is nothing wrong with getting someone to help you through this journey and remind you to focus on the positive. I would be jumping for joy for 18lb loss in one month and instead of jumping for joy for you, my heart was breaking at the obvious devistation you were feeling..............take care of yourself body and mind.

When Will The Gas Pain Go Away??

Mine were on and off for 4 weeks, usually helped when I stood up...........gas x
  24. I don't think you are eating enough. I just had my 6 week appt and first fill and told them I was eating approx 1000-1100, they told me to bump it up to 1200 and get more veggies in. I have been losing and have just been given the go ahead to get back to the gym.

    1St Fill This Morning

21.5 lbs is great, I had my first fill on Friday and was 23lbs down at 6 weeks (Surgery Sept 17th). I am happy with that. I don't feel restriction on my band yet so need to focus on the eating. Good luck.
