My Taco Soup Was A Hit

If you go onto my fitness pal, they do have a recipe builder where you put in all the ingredients and it will give you nutritional info.

    Uncover

My clinic made me rip everything off at my 1 week post op appt. Didn't want it to get infected. (depends how you were put back together. I just had steristrips, no outwardly stitches)
  3. What did your dr tell you, you can eat at this stage.............

    Satisfied Vs Full

I think my biggest learning curve to date (surgery Sept 17th), is trying to differenciate between satisfied and full. I think that for the last 40ish years I have always ate til full, so learning what satisfied feels like. I try to stick with a cup of food, wait and hope to be satisfied. In speaking to friends and family, not many know the difference.
  5. I remember telling my patient care coordinator that I was 'afraid' of vegetables...........after I said it I realized how stupid it sounded, but after being on liquids and mush for so long, I was scared. Slow and steady.

    Satisfied Vs Full

I have had 2 fills and my surgeon is conservative on the fills. I am trying to eat only 1 cup or 8oz per meal so right now I have be more aware until I hit restriction.
  7. I have had 2 fills and there really isn't any type of chage in what I could eat and how hungry I am. I have to really work at the 1200 calories and 1c of food per meal, trying to eat banded but know I could eat more. Fill 3 isn't for a few weeks so here's to hoping. My clinic is also conservative on the fills 1cc per visit. They would rather I creep up to the green zone, instead of blowing past it and having trouble and needing unfills...........I am also 6hrs from my surgeon, so need not be safe not sorry.
  8. I did pasta when I was stuck in a restaurant situation on my soft diet. Pasta was on my list and I ordered a pumpkin ravioli..........ended up cutting alot of the pasta edges off and eating the insides. Oatmeal and eggs for bfast. Hummus, soup etc for lunch. good luck.

    Solids After Surgery

Every surgeon is different. I was on 2 weeks liquids, 1 week pureed and blenderized and then slowely introduced solids. They didn't do my first fill until 6 weeks post surgery.

    Unjury In Canada

I purchased in Ottawa at the Civic Hospital pharmacy (inside the hospital). They have a weight management program at the hospital so I would guess that is why they stock it. I bought 2 tubs and couldn't stomach it, gave them away. I go back to my optifast when I need to supliment with a drink.

    Banded Oct 5

My instructions were 6 weeks nothing but walking. No lifting.

    How Much Can You Eat?

You certainly shouldn't be drinking your calories or protein. Stick with 1 cup of food per meal with 3-4oz of protein.

    Banded Oct 5

I went to pureed and blenderized at the beginning of post op week 3, then a week later started on ground meats, finely chopped meats, lunch meats. I was eating solids by about 4-5 weeks out. You should not over eat on anything. after 5 weeks your meals should be a cup of food or 8 oz, 3x a day and Snacks 3-4oz 3x a day. I was told about 6 weeks for healing. good luck

    Steri-Strips/bandages

No you are fine, at my 1 week post op visit she told me to rip them off as they get all grungy and could get infection. If you have any left on there, I would get them off.
  15. Yes it is, you just need to stick to eating like a restricted banded person. 1 cup per meal, 3-4 oz for snacks, 1200 calories, 70g of protein and exercise. It might take a few months to free restriction, so practice good eating habits.

    Pureed Stage Recipes

Ouch............good luck with that. I was on pureed and blenderized for 7 days and then for 10 days went to finely chopped, ground meats, soft fruit (banana and apple sauce).

    Help :(

I was told not to drink for 6 months. Tough love but I am pretty sure that drinking is not on your 3 week dr's orders. I would be concerned at vomiting 3 weeks out, you are not healed inside. I would give your dr's office a call to see if they are concerned.

    Pureed Stage Recipes

I wouldn't be going too crazy in cooking and freezing for this stage........it is 'boring' and hard. My fav was buying a rotissarie chicken, throwing it in the blender with a bit of gravy ........ it looked nasty, had the consistancy of thick Peanut Butter (stuck to the roof of my mouth too), but after 4 weeks on liquid, it tasted like heaven. Chicken salad, tuna salad, chili in a blender, still ate Soups (added blenderized cottage cheese for protein). Mashed potatoes (do not make a staple), mashed turnip, sweet potatoe. I was on this stage for 7 days before I could make them more diced than pureed. Good luck.
  19. Click under my foods on the food tab and create food and build your recipe.

    Mashed Potatoes

Add blenderized cottage cheese to your soups for added protein. 2 weeks liquid were hard for me, variety sucked. I told my clinic that it would have been easier to keep me on the liquid diet for an additional 2 weeks.

    What Can I Do?

I could only walk for 6 weeks.......put on my headphones and walked about an hour a day. It wasn't that bad. Just went back to the gym this week - ouch

In Need Of Help With What To Eat

You probably do not have any restriction and will not for a few months until you have had a fill or 2 or 3 or 4. You do need to start eating like a banded person. No more than 1 cup or 8oz per meal, 3 meals per day with 2-3 Snacks of no more than 3-4oz per snack. You should eat 70g of Protein, and at meals eat your protein first, followed by veggies and then carbs if you are still hungry. You should not be drinking your meals/protein. Right now you can probably eat the same as you did before, but you really have to try to stick with 1 cup. Get your protein in as that will make you feel full. Weigh and measure everything that goes in and track it. I would also call your clinic and let them know you are finding it challanging and perhaps speak with a nutritionist.

    Anchorage, Ak

Before you go to Mexico, make sure that you can find a dr in Alaska that is able to help with your aftercare and do your fills. Would be terrible to have to travel to Mexico every 5 weeks in order to get your band working for you.
