How Much Did You Lose In Your First Month?
wildrose1966 replied to bandedsandi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are still in the healing phase and focus should be on healing not weightloss. Your body is probably in starvation mode and is holding onto everything you put in it because it is unsure if you are going to feed it again. Give it time. My surgery was Sept 17th - I lost 10lbs in my first week post op and then from Sept Sept 24th until Oct 24th lost 3 lbs and 3 inches on my waist and 1 on my hips. Now that I am eating regular foods and have started back to the gym, hope to see at least another 3 by my next fill. I am not close to restriction with my band, so this is pure diet and exercise on my part, this is the hard part. -
Aggressive Fills?
wildrose1966 replied to losangelesislovely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my second fill a week ago. Between my first and 2nd fill was 2 weeks (family situation brought be back to the city where my dr is - 6hr drive so I decided to ask for a fill. as I was in town) I did not lose anything in those 2 weeks. I have 5 weeks between fill 2 and 3 so will get a better idea. I do try to stick to 1200 calories/day. The last 2 days have been tough but am regrouping in my head for a great week. -
Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
wildrose1966 replied to dreamers's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 2 months post op and apart from the pre op diet and 2 week post op on liquids, I don't have new weird eating habits. I can sit at a table with anyone and eat almost anything being served. I just make sure I chew well, make healthy choices and stay to 1cup per meal. -
Aggressive Fills?
wildrose1966 replied to losangelesislovely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My clinic only does 1cc fills...........easier to creep up to restriction than to blow right past it and try to figure out what to take out. I did blenderized and pureed on post op day 14 for a week and then graduated to finely chopped ground meats about 10 days after that. -
I put chicken in the blender with a bit of low fat gravy and it was so good at that time. Introduce meats slowely......I am 2 months out and had beef for the first time this week......still nervous about that and have not had pork yet.
-
What is after your mushie stage. I think blenderized Wendy's chili was part of my pureed stage, so you might be okay.
-
My dr didn't have a mushie stage, he called it blenderized and pureed.........if you could whip it up in a blender it was okay. That was after full liquids for 1 week then introduced ground meats and bananas came in then as well. Good luck.

57 Y.o. Canadian Woman Wanting To Have Lap Band Done In Phoenix
wildrose1966 replied to suegammy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wouldn't get anything done in the States until you know you can get aftercare in Canada. Many dr's here won't touch you if they didn't do your surgery, and if you can't get someone for aftercare, fills and unfills, then no use getting the surgery. I am in Ottawa and 6hrs away from my surgeon and there is nobody here to do fills........6hrs each way....ugh. -
I am 2 months out and have a burping problem, day, night, food no food, I burp like it is my job.......(stole that from someone)

On my post op liquid phase, I had a bunch of work lunches, orded soup and mumbled something about dental work. -
Help Going Away For Week End
wildrose1966 replied to bandedsheree's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I travel for work and probably spend 3 months of the year in hotels and eating out. If you are on a regular diet, you can eat anything, just make smart choices. Have fun. -
I slept on my side the first night, put a pillow under my side.

What To Eat Post Op?
wildrose1966 replied to Courtnin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to tell you that I bought 8 of them, couldn't get 1 down and threw the other 7 away. It was the clear ensure. Having said that I haven't been able to get any protein drinks, powders or enhanced foods down, except the optifast. You do need to follow your dr's instructions. I could have pudding, yogurt, soup and after a week went back to my pre op shake, optifast. -
My instructions are no eating or drinking 2hrs before a fill. You should get specifics from your own dr's office.
-
Did your dr give you a diet plan??? I think it is unrealistic to be 'no' fat, low fat perhaps. My preop was optifast, high protein, low fat. No fat would be pretty much fruit only. Did you ask your dr for a guideline? (I would be interested what he means)
-
I added powder laxative to my yogurt during the first week. I also found the pill form that is the tiniest pill I ever saw, no problems swallowing.
-
Sorry already got rid of it. Optifast, have to purchase it thru my surgeon.

Day 2 Post Op And Need Help!
wildrose1966 replied to mommyvega3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 days post op I was on full liquids.........yogurt and pudding are considered full liquid at my clinic. Clear liquids were the first 24hrs. Depends on what specifically your surgeon has told you for the next 12 days, clear liquids or full liquids. -
Day 2 Post Op And Need Help!
wildrose1966 replied to mommyvega3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr's instructions for liquid diet were Soup, yogurt, puddings, smoothies (no fruits with seeds), Protein Drinks. I could not handle Protein Powder or any of the pre made drinks, went back to Optifast. Everything falls of a spoon and no chunks. Try greek yogurt, add cottage cheese to your soup and blend it, adds Protein. good luck -
Post op, you can eat soup (add cottage cheese and put in a blender for protein), greek yogurt, pudding. (if your dr lets you, mine did for liquid)...........I drank my pre op optifast post op, because I couldn't stomach anything. You can make smoothies with yogurt and fruit (no seeds), you might be able to add some of the powder to a smoothie.
-
GNC is good, as they have a 30 day return policy.............I returned the stuff I bought from there too.
-
I bought 2 tubs of the stuff, unflavored and vanilla..........had to give them away, couldn't stand the smell or taste. I haven't found anything l like. I ended up going back to Optifast to suplument when needed. I try to eat all my Protein instead of drink it, sometimes I need to boost my protein intake with the drink. good luck. I am not sure if the powder is made to be added to fruit drinks or Jello. Have you tried yogart and smoothies???

Preparation For Surgery
wildrose1966 replied to MissPYT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I arrived at 7:30, on the table by 8:00 home by noon. It was a private clinic, so not alot of waiting around and all of the formalities were done beforehand. I wore capris and a tee shirt. I had gasx, a heating pad and lots of fluids at home, don't go crazy and overthink it - Soup, yogurt, puddings were good for the first few day, didn't have much of an appetite. I was off for 8 days, but with a desk job, that was more than enough. I was also very lucky, no pain, no need for pain killers and was up and about pretty fast. Good luck to you. -
Gasx and a heating pad. The pain was lesser for me when I was standing.

Looking For Advice...i'm Too New On My Journey To Be Having These Troubles Already...
wildrose1966 replied to libra8302's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Libra, I understand you frustration, this is a slow process to hit the green zone. As my clinic says, they would rather I creep upon it that blow right past it and deal with those problems. I travel 6hrs and about $100 in gas each time I get a fill and they are doing it 1cc at a time. They work with me for my appointments and are good if I decide that I can't do the drive at 4weeks but it is more convenient for me at 6 weeks. But, it is my life and my health and it is so worth it. Perhaps see if they will see how much you have in your band next visit and compare it to how much they think you have and that may put your mind at ease. 50lbs is fantastic and according to my information, you are right on track.
