    Vomit Blood

Throwing up blood - I would go to the ER, receptionist is not a medical doctor or nurse.

    First Fill 11/28

Calm down. First you really should not feel a thing. I got a bit of freezing and as it was the first fill she had to feel around to find my port - with her fingers - I think she did a few pokes before she found it, but it didn't hurt. She also noted the spot on my chart and for my second fill she got it with the first poke. I am not sure about your office, but mine only puts 1cc in at a time, she puts it in, leaves the syringe in and makes me sit up and gulp a little cup of Water, if it goes down okay, she takes the needle out. I guess she keeps it in in case the band is too tight and she needs to take some out so she doesn't have to poke again. i have had 2 fills and can eat everything I was eating before. I am not at restriction so have to eat smart like the banded person I am. Honest, no pain, don't worry about it, you will be fine.

    How Can You Tell??

Drink drink away, sip, don't gulp. Liquids flows right thru your pouch, so you should be okay.
  4. For the first 2 weeks I could have yogurt, pudding, soups, smoothies (no seeds), this was the stage I added cottage cheese to some of the cream soups and blenderized it to increase the Protein. On the second week my clinic gave me the okay to go back to Optifast as I was having a hard time with the protein powders and drinks. After that for 7 days I was on blenderized and pureed. No chunks, everything in a blender, plus all the stuff from the first stage. I ate alot of chicken in the blender, it had the consistency of think Peanut Butter but it tasted like chicken and after 4 weeks of liquids, it was good. I believe at that stage I could put chili in the blender too, hummus and soft Pasta were okay too - apple sauce might have come in then. Tuna salad, chicken salad......it wasn't very exciting. Next stage for 10 days I could add bananas and ground meats, introducing them slowely and well cooked veggies. I think that is about it, my book is in the other room so am going on memory. Good luck to you.
  5. Did your dr give you something to make reference to?? If the nutritionist is working with bariatric patients and your surgeon I would follow their unstructions. I was surprised how long it took me to get to eat applesauce, it certainly wasn't in the first 2 weeks. I did use cottage cheese in the liquid stage - added to my soups and blenderized, just to give it more protein.

    In Extreme Pain

I used gasx, peppermint tea and a heating pad. It seemed to hurt less if I was standing and walking rather than sitting. Good luck. Sorry to say that although I didn't get alot of gas pain, it popped up periodically for about 5 weeks.

    What To Expect?!?!

To the few people who I told about the surgery, I told them that if I didn't have it, I would die......maybe not today or tomorrow, but certainly sooner than my friends. It's the truth and nobody could argue it.

    First Fill Today

When I had my first fill, she took out what was left from surgery to measure and then put that plus 1cc back in. She kept the needle in me, made me sit up and gulp a small glass of water, while the needle was still sticking out of me. If the water goes down the needle comes out. She just doesn't want to have to go poking again if she needs to take some out. Kind of freaky but you get use to it, I suppose.
  9. I think everyone is different. I am also at 3cc's and pretty much have zero restriction. I feel I am currently dieting just not to gain. Am sticking to 1200 calories and 1c of food per meal. I know this could take a while and my clinic only does 1cc per fill...............

    Japaneese Steakhouse

I am sorry, but taking you to a steakhouse 2 weeks post op is not supportive in my opinion. You weren't even 2 weeks post op so you are still on liquid and you are healing, you shouldn't be eating, or looking at menus. I am sure you are okay, but please follow your dr's orders.

    Please Help

As your swelling goes down, you fill find that you can eat more. The first week post op, I weighed about 3-4 oz and had that. Your friend is not you and doesn't know how your body is feeling. Follow your dr's instructions.

    Unjury In Canada

Protein powder had a very unique taste and smell. It was the smell that gave me a really hard time (taste is not great for me either). I can't do protein powders because of that.

    Day 6 Post Op

I am 2 months out and have had 2 fills.........I am at 3cc. I from surgery and 1 per fill. Are you sure you are really at 6cc, that sounds huge for 1 week out. And, it is about healing for the next 5 weeks not losing. You need to get your nutrition and take care of yourself right now.

    Should I Be Worried?

At my 1 week post op appt. the nurse told me to tear them all off as they were grungy and they didn't want the chance of infection. Don't worry about them if they fall off, you should be pretty well glued or stitched together.

    Port Location?

About an inch up and to the left (if I am looking down) of my belly button.
  18. I got cream of wheat at the purred and blenderized stage and oatmeal after that, wasn't allowed either at the full liquid stage.......everyone is sooo different.

    Im Going Crazy

I think the rule is no sodas - ever.
  20. Every surgeon is different. I was on clear liquids for 2 days only and then full liquids (which according to my clinic included yogurt, pudding, cream Soups, smoothies)
  21. GNC offers a 30 day return policy on their products.
  22. 20 people will answer and you will get 20 different answers. I found that going back to my pre op shake was best for me, as I already drank them for 2 weeks. Every clinic is different as well and mine did not get crazy for me to get my full 70g of Protein in during the first 2 weeks. They just wanted to make sure I was hydrated and somewhat nurished. Can you drink milk or chocolate milk.......that has protein. Can you make a smoothie with greek yogurt and add Protein powder??? Good luck to you.
  23. I am 2 months out, 2 fills and zero restriction, that will come in time. Just live like a banded person until the band kicks in and starts working for you. Dry mouth, pretty common, drink lots of fluids. Good luck.

    2Nd Week Banded

Sure is normal. First 6 weeks are for healing and not losing. I lost 10lbs my first week post op, and then 3lbs total in the 4 weeks after that, undil my first fill. I have had 2 fills, am not close to restriction so right now the band is not really working for me and I am 'dieting' to make sure I don't gain. Good time to practice, small bites, 1c of food per meal and 1200 calories/day.
