I Need Some Help Advice. Banded On Monday And Having Issues
wildrose1966 replied to duncanrum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I can say is I wish I had diarreha right about now, the other option isn't that fun either. -
6-8 weeks. You are stitched inside and as my dr said.........you don't want to pop a stitch..........ouch, that was enough to keep me walking for 6 weeks even though I felt GREAT.

I Need Some Help Advice. Banded On Monday And Having Issues
wildrose1966 replied to duncanrum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been there but please keep yourself hydrated. I know that you are either constipated or have diarreha........most are constipated. It will get better, just keep sipping. -
Does The First Fill Make The Difference??
wildrose1966 replied to Mandylove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great. Didn't notice anything different after the first or the second fill. Starting back to the gym regularly and counting my calories is helping, but unfortunatly not my band right now. 3rd fill is in 2 weeks. It is a marathon not a sprint. Congrats on the loss. -

Scheduling Fills With A Heavy Travel Schedule
wildrose1966 replied to Pebbagirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My clinc does fills every 4-6 weeks. I live 6hrs away so sometimes it is 4 sometimes it is 6, you should be fine if you are following the rules. -
I also have to say I am surprised that you even went ahead with the surgery if drinking water is not an option, as staying hydrated and full, most often means drinking water - flavored or plain. Sounds like 2 weeks in, you are setting yourself up to fail and sabotaging your own success.

If you are craving chocolate, why not look for a chocolate flavored protein drink???

Sept 17th and am burping like it is my job................

After a month on liquids, I remember my first blenderized chicken meal. I sat at the table with a goofy smile on my face. It was really good. A little cheese and liquid - yummo. Cottage cheese.........I put it in my soup and blenderized it.......just added Protein to the cream Soups. I couldn't do oatmeal at that stage, just cream of wheat.

I bought a rotissaire chicken, it is pretty moist, used a little fat free gravy in the bullet, even some laughing cow low fat cheese.............go for the real chicken (it does have the consistancy of thick peanut butter, but really yummy)
-
If you can put it in the blender and mush it you can have it. Tuna salad, chicken salad. My instructions said Wendy's chilli in a blender. It was great to eat something else, not drink it, but it is a bit of a boring stage. enjoy.

How Soon After Surgery Did You Return To The Gym?
wildrose1966 replied to molldoll83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 weeks. I felt great after surgery and even asked at my 1 week post op appt. They told me '6 weeks, we don't want you to pop a stitch'. That phrase 'pop a stitch' kept me walking for 6 weeks. You still have lots of healing to do inside. -

Can You Eat Steak??
wildrose1966 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried steak yet. I did have a sliver of prime rib and all was okay. I am 2.5 months out and at zero restriction, so, who knows what the future will bring. -
If you can, try to eat your protein instead of drinking it. As you start healing and the swelling goes down you will find that you can eat/drink more. Drinking is okay because it goes right through you, but be careful on the eating. Meat pureed sounds nasty, but I was so happy to get to that phase. I got a rotissaire chicken, put alittle bit of no fat gravy with it and put it in the bullet. Had the consistancy of thick peanut butter, but it was sooooo good. Tuna Salad, chicken salad, just make sure it is all in a blender. I couldn't do any of the protein drinks either, so eating my protein was important. I added cottage cheese to my cream soups and put it all in a blender for added protein. Greek yogart is good. If you had to do a pre op liquid diet you may be able to go back to those shakes........to up your protein. But you do need to start eating if you are on pureed. Good luck.

You are only 2 weeks out, you should absolutly be following your dr's instructions, and if you are not clear or sure, phone the office. This is a very important stage in healing...........good luck.

2Nd Fill Today, Plz Give Your Advice As The Nurse Really Couldn't.
wildrose1966 replied to waiting&waiting's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I went for my first fill the nurse told me that during surgery they fill the band to make sure everything is okay and then they take it out, however there is usually between 1-3cc's left in from surgery (not deliberate). My first fill she pulled everything out to see how much was left, and then we started from there. Wonder if you had some in your band and then they added more during surgery. Don't worry about getting your fills slow and steady, according to my clinic, we would rather creep up on our sweet spot than blow right past it and have the problems associated with that. Having said that, I am frustrated at the 1 cc per fill, but it is what it is........... I just saw some of your food choices, my thoughts are that you are drinking too much of your Protein and probably should be eating more.........at least cut out one of those shakes. So sorry about your problems. -
Most people have the opposite, so consider yourself lucky.

I Wish I Could Say Holy Crap!!!
wildrose1966 replied to lovinjacobe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to your dr as everyone is different, I was on laxitives 2 days post op, per the surgeons instructions, too much can happen in you don't go and then that gets real ugly. -
Not sure where your friend got her informaiton but you should be getting info from your dr. For the first 6 weeks you are healing and shouldn't be fretting about weight loss. Then, once you start eating regular foods, you need to sick to the portions your dr. has recommended, as it is likely your band is not even working yet. Until you get enough fills that you have good restriction, meaning you can eat a cup of food and it will hold you for 4hrs before getting hungry again and are making good choices, you probably won't lose much. Until you reach your 'sweet spot', you are pretty much just following a strict diet right now. So yes, it is perfectly normal and eventually you will be losing consistantly. I was banded on Sept 17th and have no restriction. I am trying to keep to 1200 calories a day and 1c of food per meal. It is hard.
