  1. I smoked marijuana almost immediately after because it was the only thing that would help with the nausea. It was a life saver for me. Exercise- I started on the treadmill or the elliptical a week after just for 15 minutes and gradually built up as I felt better. One month out I started doing any and all exercises. Alcohol- I started drinking wine again about two months out. Haven't had any trouble. coffee and Tea- I pretty much started on those as soon as I could eat regular food and was off my liquid phases. I think I am not a very good example but thought I would honestly answer your questions. Hope this helps.
  2. Hmmmmm. Sorry you are having trouble. Water can actually make me feel nauseous sometimes too. I am a little further out than you. Maybe try soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, and maybe try coconut water- it's loaded with electrolytes. I personally drink by Blue Diamond Unsweetened Coconut/Almond Milk. I can't stand stuff that is too sweet either- gag! I wish you all the best - Hang in there!!!!
  3. My mom is totally worried about me not being able to stop the weight loss. I am two and half months post op and I can tell you I could probably stop my weight loss right now if I decided to incorporate like say milk shakes every day. And I say that because liquids are easier to get down and consume more of than with solid food because they pass through the sleeve easier I don't think you have anything to worry about in regards to wasting away. Just a side note: this has been the best decision of my life! Reason being is I can now finally feel "satisfied" with so little food. I think that's all I really wanted, except before the sleeve that feeling didn't come until I had three to four helpings! All the best to you with your journey!

4Th Day If Liquid Diet...feeling Down

Hang in there! The light at the end of the tunnel will be here before you know it!!!!!! It will help too when you can have "full liquids" like creamy soups and such. You are doing great thus far- keep it up. This will soon be a distant memory!

    Leg Cramps

ELECTROLYTES! Don't know if that is the correct spelling. I was getting leg cramps too and I am taking great supplements but when I went to my acupuncturist she recommended electrolytes and that was totally the missing element! You can get electrolytes without sugar or very little. I find the best at bike shops and REI stores. Good luck! I think you have an easy fix here and it's not an expensive one either which is nice!
  6. This is a life saver for me! Try myfitnesspal.com I think it just might be what you need to jump start and inspire more progress. Hang in there and keep coming back here! Great to have you back!
  7. Thank you sooo much for your post! I have been going through a lot of therapy to address emotional eating as well. I recently came across a therapy called EMDR. I have made LEAPS AND BOUNDS with this therapy and it has helped me more than talk therapy- actually there has been no comparison. Talk therapy never helped me in the past and man I sure did a lot of it and spent $$$$!!!!!!! Your post is soooo important to all of us- thank you for sharing and may you grab the bull by its horns again!!!!

    Scars

Mine are still pretty dark too but I had an abdominal surgery a few years ago and it took mine a year before they were light enough where I don't notice them anymore. I am using mederma this time and I can't really tell if there is any difference than the time I didn't use anything at all. Hmmmm. Wish I had a better suggestion for you.

    Bmi

I started out with a lower BMI and there wasn't any specific criteria for me either and I went to Mexico. The lower BMI wasn't the reason I went to Mexico it was because I don't have health insurance. There are amazing doctors available down there just as there are here. Good luck with your journey!

    Glass Of Wine

I had my first wine about then and did just fine. I think it is not advised because it is "empty calories" but I calculate in with my calories allowed for the day.

    Aceves Or G. Alvarez

I went to Alvarez Sept 3rd this year and had an awesome experience. I think you picked some of the best surgeons in Mexico. I was exactly where you are and didn't know which one to go with and basically it came down to a gut decision- that sounds weird. But you know what I mean. I don't think you can go wrong with either, truly. I would recommend Dr. Alvarez to my family and friends. Good luck with your decision!

    Question! Help Please!

VERY NORMAL - I agree. I am a little over two months out and still in the same boat after two to three bites and I have to say- it's refreshing for a change. Sometimes my food feels stuck too- that part sucks but it should pass. You are doing great- keep it up. IT IS TOTALLY GOING TO GET EASIER! Hang in there!

    Not Feeling Well

I think there is a pretty good chance you are still good to go but unfortunately every doctor is different. I hope you are still good to go! Good luck!

  16. Hi :-) I am a Sept. 3rd surgery. I have lost 28 pounds since surgery. I am very happy with the loss so far and didn't expect much more than that in two months. I feel like I have hit a couple plateaus. Ummm... what else? I think you are doing great- right on track! Thanks for checking in with us Septembers.
  17. Hey! WELCOME and GOOD LUCK tomorrow! You are starting an amazing journey! I have done a fair amount of research on hair loss and it sounds like iron is your best bet. And here is a link I snagged from another member on here regarding hair loss that you might find interesting. All the best and let us know how you are doing!!! http://www.slhn.org/docs/pdf/bariatric_surgery_and_hair_loss.designed.pdf

    The Weight Isn't Budging...

It's always nice to hear the reminder! I was at an almost 3 week plateau at 4 weeks post surgery. But you're right- my clothes keep feeling different even though the scale doesn't always move. Thanks for the post!!!! Keep up the good vibrations!
  20. I know one thing that helped me was taking a cardio sculpting class to help tighten my saggy thighs. I enjoy working out and enjoy even more being in with other people. I haven't lost my curves yet- I've always had a big butt and don't plan on losing it as I am kind of attached to it. LOL. I am still only half way to my goal but when I was down at my goal weight 4 years ago I still was really curvy. But as far as tightening is concerned- weight training of some sort is your best bet. Good Luck!!! :-)

    Any Regrets? I Do ..

    When was your surgery?
  22. When I was a month out I was doing honey in my tea but now I have switched to stevia (sweetener substitute) . I seem to tolerate any sweetener though. And for me, the only time I crave sweets is that time of the month. I am still trying hard to keep my sugar to a minimum. I think that is what most peoples goal is on here. Good Luck! I am betting you won't have any trouble
  23. Good question. I am a little over two months and occasionally eat pistachios. Haven't had any trouble. I think moderation is the key. But like everyone said above- every doctor is different with his recommendations.
  24. I didn't have insurance either and decided to have my surgery done in Mexico. I had an awesome experience, as surgeries go, and would recommend my doctor to my best friend. I narrowed my search down to two doctors Dr. Aceves and Dr. Alvarez. I think they are both amazing doctors. I connected more with Dr. Alvarez so I went with him. There was never one minute I didn't feel safe being there or when crossing the border. So I think you are making a great decision! Good luck and all the best!
  25. I just wanted to say that I really really like everyone's post here. Thanks for sharing!!!!
