I totally had that issue as well- I think for me it was that I always felt like I couldn't get enough liquid because I was sooooo used to chugging before. For me it was almost psychological. But you could also be dehydrated too- Sip Sip Sip Sip - mantra for after surgery

eat protein, drink water & take vitamins! !
COnative replied to nailgirl5464's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is our religion after surgery! Protein/Water/Vitamins. Sorry your doctor feels that way but that is all I lost my first month- I think that's a lot and you should feel proud! Keep up the good work!! -
WOW! What a transformation! Thank you so much for posting- we don't get to hear from very many people that far out from surgery. Great job!!

I can't deal with this stall anymore
COnative replied to cygnusatratus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was some really good advice I got from here from a member "Butterthebean" about stalls check it out. And Hang in there! Almost all of us hit the stall you are at right now. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html -
I think the liquid consumption is normal. Your sleeve is only around 4oz so there is absolutely no way you can get 8oz at a time. I think at month 5- I might be able to do 3-4oz at a time. Sipping throughout your day is key. I apologize- can't help with the chest pains but if I had to guess- sounds like gas pains. But that is always best to check with the Dr.! That's why they get the big bucks!!!!

Best of luck to you! Hope everything goes smoothly and hope you have a very quick recovery!

Yup and being post-sleeved I am still struggling with eating too fast sometimes which is an awful experience post sleeve. I think that will be my battle for a long time but I am working on it! I am trying to be very conscious of the speed in which I eat- I have ALWAYS eaten too fast. Binge eating will be more like a quick few bites of eating because there is no way you will be able to binge eat like you did pre- surgery. All the best to you.

Thanks for the tip! I am a runner and I am always looking to get better and faster. That guy on the video sure makes it look easy!!!

Hiring private nurse in TJ?
COnative replied to kwindham's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Your coordinator should be able to help you out or ask your surgeon directly. Good Luck- I have never heard of this before. -
Yes- where are you thinking of getting the tattoo? I have several and always picked areas where I felt the skin changed the least like the back of my neck, ankle, and wrist. My opinion if it were me would be to wait if it is somewhere where you carry your weight.

need to get back on track...help...please
COnative replied to AnewG2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Man you guys aren't alone! I was so disappointed in myself because I gained 3 pounds over the holidays but was able to take it off by getting my butt back to the gym. With that being said- I try to eat around 800-1000 the days I don't work out and the days I do?- I allow 1200. But MAN- the whole sweet food **** it sooooo hard! Once I start eating sweets it seems to start a downward spiral. I am just trying to stay strong and get off the sugar again because once I've been without it for just a few days I seem to crave it less. Hang in there! -
Sure! I have been working out since 13 and I am 39- and believe me you I was chomping at the bit to get going because it seemed like I felt good enough to go crazy three weeks out but, and there is a big BUT, I think it was a better idea to wait just two more weeks. I started on the treadmill AND elliptical one week after surgery without any trouble. I know about the sagging skin- it drives me nuts but it is getting better now that I can lift heavier weights- I started that two months from surgery.
-
I was told to wait till week 5 to try intense exercise programs. I think P90X looks awesome and also looks like a lot of core work, which is great, but be careful- you are still healing at week 3. You can however start with the treadmill and elliptical. And lifting lighter weights- I was cleared for 5 pounds and 5 pound increases each week after surgery. Good Luck!

6 weeks tomorrow and pain
COnative replied to Kammie726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It certainly can't hurt to touch base with your doctor tomorrow. I am worried because your stomach is on the left and where you are describing the pain is where your liver and gall bladder are. Hmmmm. Give your Dr. a call. Wishing you the best! Hope you feel better soon! -
Don't worry you are doing everything right! 80% of us hit that exact stall at the 4 week mark. Hang in there you will continue to lose soon!
-
LOVE IT! But I think that is in part because I have been exercising since I was 13. But I have had three abdominal surgeries and exercising seemed to help me heal faster and feel better in general! Granted I don't go crazy the week of or the week after surgery. In fact, I kind of take it easier on the cardio machines up to a month after surgery then I go crazy. But with that said, I still listen to my body. Meaning, if I am exhausted I won't push it or sometimes I will just take the day off from exercise. Exercise really helps with the loose skin! Wish it would get rid of the stretch marks though! LOL

Thanks for the info! It is always nice to see new products!

Just cant seem to shake it off.
COnative replied to FAWife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awwwww... I can relate to the depression that's for sure. And the anger for that matter. Sorry you are going through a tough time. I only hope when I feel like that, that my meds will help me from being depressed for too long. I think if you have your depression longer than a couple weeks- it couldn't hurt to have your doctor bump up your dosage for a little while. I know personally I have had to do that a time or two. I wish you the best. You are not alone. -
Calories we should ideally take 2-4 months post-op to loose weight
COnative replied to indian's topic in Food and Nutrition
That's all that I am losing monthly and sometimes less which is actually okay for me. I think if you are sedentary I personally would try somewhere between 700-1000 daily? -
That is a big list. I am starting month 5 and still can't eat avocados and eggs which I used to love. I am really surprised you can't go back to more of what is on that list! There are really good foods on that list!!! Bummer!

Calories we should ideally take 2-4 months post-op to loose weight
COnative replied to indian's topic in Food and Nutrition
Starting month 5 and calories are 800-1200 depending on my exercise level. Closer to 800 on the days I don't exercise and closer to 1200 on hard days at the gym. -
Newbie...and a little frightened
COnative replied to nygurl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think it is great that you are looking out for yourself and looking into the sleeve. Our paths sound very similar. Fad diets, the up and up workout routines. Losing and gaining, losing and gaining. You won't find anyone discouraging your journey on here- we are all about supporting everyone with their journey so this is a great place for information and support. Keep coming back here and your decision will become clearer and clearer regardless of whether you decide for surgery or not. Good luck!!! -
That is great!!! You just made me look at what I put on my drivers license- it says 160. Guess I have a little ways to go! LOL. But I would be doing cartwheels if I was at that goal. 84 pounds down?!! That is amazing! Keep it up!

20 lbs from my first goal.
