  1. I am where you are! I hate stalls!!!!!! Mine has been 3 months . Maybe I am eating too many calories- I am eating around 1000-1200 with working out 6 days a week and my carbs are around 165g per day and my protein is 60-90. I think I am going to try in addition to more water, less calories. This is tougher than I thought it would be but I am still very thankful I have lost as much as I did thus far. I wish you the best- I really hope the scale moves for the both of us real soon. You are not alone!

    I need some help!

Thanks for your post! I feel like I am exactly where you are and its hard not to feel discouraged because we have come too far to stop losing now! I think I need to try to drink more water and maybe bump up my intensity at the gym. I really wish you the best, I think we will get past this. Or at least I will die trying

    Hairloss

I started losing my hair at month 3 and didn't stop until month 5. I didn't find anything that helped- I just felt lucky that I had really thick hair. I've been told it will grow back. I sure hope so. Sorry I can't offer help just wanted to share my experience. There is also a good website that offers explanation and maybe perhaps help. Here it is: http://www.slhn.org/docs/pdf/bariatric_surgery_and_hair_loss.designed.pdf

    Throwing up :(

I can relate even though it was a long time ago. I felt like for the first two months I had to fight and I mean seriously fight to keep a lot of food down. Hang in there, it does get better. I know- its not really exciting but some of us have more trouble with this than others. I think I only could eat two foods without feeling really sick- fruit flavored baby food and I think yogurt. I wish I had something more helpful to say- maybe someone else will post better advice. But I wish you the best.

    Stall....

I am in the same boat! I have been at a stall since early February. I think we just need to be patient, I think. Sometimes I wonder how long a stall can last. You and I are very similar as far as activity and consumption of protein. I am considering doing Dr. Oz's three day detox to maybe "jump start" the weight loss again. But I totally feel you! It is frustrating!!! Hopefully there are others who reply to give more insight.

I wish. But I am unable to help at this time. I didn't realize that this is a volunteer based website. This might not be possible after all but it can sure be a fantasy!

    Frequently Asked Questions

I would love to see a tab at the very top of the page where we have Forum, Community, Photos. And have a tab that is labeled "frequent questions' and in the pull down menu: stalls, hair loss, vitamin ideas, protein shake debate. I don't know if this will help. Or if there is a tab for frequent questions and then it pulls up a search where you can enter your question easier and get answers faster from previous posts? But you kind of have that already. hmmmmm. Somehow it is getting missed. Thanks! And I am looking forward to the new version of VST!

    Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar?

So I have tried two different capsules. You can get them I think online, I bought mine through my acupuncturist. Xymogen is the brand and it's called GastrAcid. And another good one is by Standard Process called Zypan. But I would definitely get professional advice before taking on your own. Good Luck!!!

    Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar?

I am actually taking something stronger but along the same lines of apple cider vinegar because all my blood tests came back that I am not absorbing the protein I eat. So I am on an herbal hydrochloric acid which helps my body break down the protein better for absorption. It has made all the difference!!! But I did start with apple cider vinegar- took a tablespoon with each meal. Now I take a capsule with each meal. I am 7 months out and started this routine at 6 months without any trouble.

    what's this all about?

You aren't doing anything wrong and here is a great link to explain your stall. Hang in there! It is part of the process (unfortunately)! http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html
  15. I have one close friend like that and we just don't talk about it anymore. We are still friends and I don't think less of her, I know its tough because I have had friends lose weight and look awesome and I'm sorry, I'm human so I was jealous too because I have been the fat girl many times. I think your friend will come around and if she doesn't, unfortunately, you have your answer. It is never okay to make back handed comments though. But the most important thing is that your are doing this for you. I think too, once your family and friends see how much more positive you become after the surgery they will approach this with more compassion and less judgement.
  16. Thanks for sharing all of that! I never had anything life threatening but knew I didn't want to live anymore because I was so disgusted with the way I looked and was embarrassed to go anywhere. I got all the same responses.......why don't you just lose it on your own, you've done it before.... If only it were that easy- I WOULD have kept it off. I took it off and put it on 5 times. I am happy to hear that you are getting the sleeve. I think you are going to be overjoyed with the results. I am 7 months out and I have to admit it's not without effort (to keep losing) BUT there is NO WAY I can consume the food I used to. IMPOSSIBLE! And now I can go out without hiding behind my husband. I am happy you are alive and looking forward to hearing about your progress. All the best to you!

    vitamins vitamins!

Here's a great link for the best vitamins on the market right now. Good luck. It took me a really long time to find one that doesn't make me feel sick. http://www.multivitaminguide.org/full-ranking.html I personally take Xtend-Life and haven't had any trouble. I know Metagenics makes a multi without iron but not sure about other brands.

    So hungry at night

This is tough! I was going to suggest chicken with some whip cream on top but I have a feeling that won't work. LOL. I know it might sound a little boring but I keep a big bag of frozen organic cherries from Costco and I thaw them in the microwave and they seem to help with the sweet without eating unhealthy. But I feel you- that's for sure. Fruit seems to work though.......Good luck.....

    6 month update

Thanks for sharing!!! I am right about where you are and I must say your success is amazing and fantastic! Way to go!!!! Keep it up! I really hope you don't have a kidney stone either!!! Good luck with that. As far as peeing- I have kind of experienced that too- it's weird, I don't feel like I have peed quite the same since surgery LOL. You are the first that I have heard of that has said the same thing. Hmmmmm. Makes me wonder.

    Had my first sneeze

LOL. It's a little alarming when you know its coming (THE SNEEZE) and it's an added bonus if you are a multiple offender! It felt like a little earthquake in my tummy when I would sneeze. Luckily enough you heal so fast that those days are almost gone! Have you experienced hiccups yet? That's another special (being sarcastic) experience when you get them. But these days are shortly lived. Best of luck with your continued recovery!!!

    Maintain muscle mass?

I think it will be a combination of things. My experience was I headed back to the gym as soon as possible after surgery. I feel like I haven't lost any muscle mass and I try and get 45-60 grams of protein per day. I also take a performance protein to help with muscle recovery/building. It is an all vegetable protein- Vega Performance and you can purchase it at Whole Foods. It hasn't been without challenges- but I am back to teaching aerobics and I feel strong enough to give everyone a great workout, including myself. I think you will be fine.
