How Slow Can I Go?
COnative replied to seelessofme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Man! I just posted the same thing! I am going crazy! I have plateaued for 2 and a 1/2 weeks now!!! I think we need to stay positive because there is no way we can't lose weight- I mean we definitely can't eat as much as we used to. Hang in there! And I'll try to hang in there too- but it definitely is hard sometimes. Sheesh! -
Wine! No Really...a Question For Serious Wine Drinkers :)
COnative replied to iggychic's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I probably shouldn't be posting this but I am an alcoholic who doesn't like to get drunk- make sense? I started drinking 1 month after surgery. Pinot is my absolute favorite!!!! Last night I had two glasses but couldn't finish the second. I haven't found a change in my palate- I just can't drink as much and it's not because I'm drunk - I just lose interest after a certain amount. And I'm not like most people who get drunk faster- I haven't noticed any change with that. I am 6 weeks out from surgery. -
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO GET BACK ON TRACK. We all have our moments of going back to old habits but every passing moment is an opportunity to turn it all around. Believe me, your surgeon is not going to be surprised. We all go though ups and downs. Just hang in there and get back on track- you can do it!!!!! And of course keep coming back to this site- it will always support you. Good Luck!!!!

Jimmy John Unwich
COnative replied to candigurlinwa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I wonder if there is a Jimmy John's in Colorado? -
LOL. I think you should ask- especially if you really like it or really hate it. I'm not the type to hold back so I probably would have asked him on the first date- I'm really bad that way. Too funny. I am super sensitive to smell so I am always commenting on if people smell good- not so much if they smell bad.

It's hard to tell how much you will lose. It seems like the more you have to lose the more pounds actually come off in the beginning. I lost 20 my first month and have plateaued for the last two weeks which I have been told is normal. If I had to guess..... I think you might be down at least 35 by the time you run your 5k. I started running exactly one month post surgery and I feel great. I started building speed and distance by doing intervals on the treadmill. Run hard for a minute and then recover for a minute and a half. I do that 10 times- it feels great and I already see my heart rate recovering faster each time I do the intervals. Best of luck to you! Thanks for the post.

Unsure If I'm On Target...advice Appreciated.
COnative replied to Sleevedreamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are so not alone. First four weeks I dropped 20 and now I am holding with maybe a half a pound for the last two weeks. I work out pretty hard every other day. It's frustrating but hang in there. From everything I have read, this is normal to plateau. Even my Dr. said to be patient. Infact, I don't think your hospitalization has anything to do with the slowed down weight loss- of course I am not a doctor but I am experiencing the exact same thing. I had my surgery September 3. Not matter what- we are going to lose weight. I somehow have faith in that. Thanks for posting, it's nice to know we're not alone. -
My Incisions-2 Weeks Post Op

They look great to me from the pic! My steristrips didn't come off for 5 weeks! Your scars look better than mine! Doing anything special to them? -
Knot In Stomach
COnative replied to sexy_sleevegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if what you are experiencing is a spasm. It feels constricting and like something is tying your stomach in to a knot. I had that the first two weeks after surgery. It does go away but it is painful enough that I would vomit. Anything I would drink or eat would put me in to a spasm. Sometimes acid blockers would help. But if you feel like it is something serious you should definitely contact your doctor. I am sorry you are going through this- it's miserable. I hope you get over it soon!!!!! -
I have found that I can only tolerate cooked vegetables. I tried a salad a month and a week out- bad idea. But I seem to handle any vegetable if it is cooked- whether it is steamed or boiled or in something. Hope that helps! I have read on here numerous times to wait 3 months until you eat anything raw.

Surgery Oct 16 All Post Surgeries Question
COnative replied to berthaeaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sure happy that I had my gas-x strips! They literally saved my life and made me way more comfortable. Good Luck!!!!! -
I was totally worried but more about dehydration and not being able to get enough fluids in. I even ordered some IV fluid just in case I freaked out but it was all just fine! I think more than anything you are going to miss certain foods you were used to prior. I miss salads- guess I can't eat them for another two months. The other key thing is find a good multivitamin that you trust! You will do great- this is so much easier than I thought it was going to be.

Things I Miss ---But No Longer Can Tolerate.
COnative replied to elisa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I MISS AVOCADO'S!!!!! I used to eat one for breakfast every morning in the summer. Now they make me really sick! But you know what? I'm stubborn- I will probably try it again in a few months- or definitely next summer. I am with you on the spicy foods- I love them but I haven't tried them yet. I think you just talked me in to waiting a little longer than I wanted to wait -

Thanks for posting! I made the mistake of having a salad the other night and man did it make me sick!!! I didn't know I couldn't have it yet. It is nice to know 3 months seems to be the magic number. Thanks everyone for your input!

Stress Through The Roof!
COnative replied to Justine13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like I am going through almost the same as you in every way. Hang in there. From everything I have read, this too shall pass. But man, stepping on the scale this morning and not seeing it move for the second week in a row is discouraging. But there is no way we can be consuming the calories we used to- it's gotta come off. You are not alone. I'm not feeling any connection to anything right now and its depressing. I even had a dream about moving away and starting over somewhere else- crazy. I hope it is a little comforting to know you aren't alone today and that we not meaning just us, will get through this. Hang in there- keep coming back here. -
That is uber great! Way to go!

Thanks so much for your post because I am at exactly the same place you are. Nice to know others have more faith in us then I do in myself. I love this site! It is a life saver!!

Alchohol Consumption After Sleeve
COnative replied to jacksmommy719's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I probably shouldn't be saying this out loud but I tried alcohol last week and it gave me the diarreah. It's only been a month since surgery. Ooops. I'll try again in a week or two. Is that bad? -
Less Than 3 Months Out, 40Lbs Lost, Happy Dance!
COnative replied to SophieJaneB's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for posting your success! That is awesome! You must feel great! Keep it up! -
I have heard of this happening from being on this site for awhile. And most of what I have heard from the people with a band who have joined this site its because they are getting a revision to a sleeve. That was my deciding factor to not go with the band because I keep hearing people having problems later on. I wish it wasn't so and maybe we are just hearing all the issues on this site and not hearing the success stories (in regards to the band).
