I'm Miserable. Feeling Lots Of Pressure
COnative replied to Twyla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking gas-x strips? I had really bad gas pains the first two weeks and they were life savers! But definitely touch base with your doctor as soon as you can.Sending good thoughts your way! -
YES YOU DID THE RIGHT THING! It will get so much better when you can expand your diet. At a month and a half I pretty much started to experiment with everything. There are still a few foods I loved that make me sick, i.e. eggs, avocados, and mayo. Sounds like you just need to hang in there a little longer. You can do it! It is so worth the weight (LOL). It will so get easier!

I had my surgery just across the border from Texas and man those cell phone companies knew! I really don't think I was more than a mile or two over the border and I got a text from my carrier letting me know I was in another country. But my doctor had a land line to the US right outside my room so I am pretty sure all the other Mexican doctors do as well. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

YES! I have some very good advice! Make sure you have really good shoes- first and foremost. Brooks and New Balance really have good support. Secondly, I'm a runner, and a good way to avoid shin splints is to start with intervals. You run really hard for a minute and walk for two minutes, repeat 7 times. I just started back from not running for a few years and I didn't get the usual shin splints. Man I hate those things- they really hurt!!!!!! Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Has Anyone Had Their Period During Surgery?
COnative replied to fgotr121's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a week early just in time for surgery :-( It totally sucked but was managable. I was able to keep my undies on with my pad during surgery. I didn't have any problems. But I feel you- it totally sucks! -
Oh man, man, maynard! I am feeling you brother! :-)

I think it is a great product but thought if I was going to spend that kind of money I wanted my fruits and veggies to be organic. But I have only heard great things about the product.

It is tough! I think that has been my biggest challenge post surgery! I am always searching on here for the next, new, protein drink to try. I am going to try Unjury next cuz it sounds like you can get protein almost in a clear form and isn't too sweet- that is my biggest issue! They are all too damn sweet for me! You can do this- there are so many of us on here that struggle with the same thing and if we can do it so can you! Hang in there. What brands have you tried? The only one I can get down right now is called Metagenics Rice Protein. I can't even stomach whey anymore so I am on to rice and after rice I will probably try a mix-protein blend. But you can do it!

Cortisol levels shouldn't have any baring on approval. And low levels, I thought, were way better than high. I thought if you had high levels of cortisol it is way harder to lose weight.Hmmmmmmm -
Annoying Weight Loss Pattern
COnative replied to hm734's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like I am going through something similar. Frustrating isn't it?! But you are almost to your goal- that is awesome!!!! And I know from losing and gaining so much over my entire life that the closer I get to my goal the slower the weight loss. But it looks like you have done great thus far. All the best! -

Energy Levels After Surgery?
COnative replied to 920amy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Great question. I was feeling like myself a few days after surgery and then I hit week 8 and I am feeling tired and weak. So go figure. I went back to work a week and a day after surgery, just part time. I started working out lightly immediately. And 30 days out started taking aerobic classes again. Hope that helps. -
Butterthebean (members name) has this link on his signature which really helped me. Check it out. It really sounds like you need to do something to shock your system. I just broke through a 3 week stall- I know how it feels- we all don't like being there, that is for sure. I really hope this information helps http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

How Much Did U Lose U First Month
COnative replied to milanhope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 20lbs the first month and then stalled for almost 3 weeks. Which I am happy for because losing that much weight in one month kind of freaked me out. I think you set a realistic goal. Good Luck! And all the best! -
Another member on this site recommended this link to finding the best vitamins on the market because not all vitamins are created equal. And in fact, some cannot not be absorbed! Here is the link if you are interested. I was already taking shaklee and was happy to see it is #5 out of #100. http://www.multivitaminguide.org/full-ranking.html

I am taking a really good multi and: CO-Q10 Biotin B12 sublingual And now I am considering taking extra Iron and zinc from what I read about hair loss. Luckily I have enough that if I lost a good amount I'd be okay but I feel for people who already have thin hair or really fine hair. No loss would be great but not getting my hopes up either. Good luck!

Really liked the info from Dorothy McFadden. Thanks for posting. Didn't know Iron had something to do with hair loss too. Interesting!

My First 5K! Down 104! Just Turned 50!
COnative replied to Chicago1962's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Flash back to Wayne's World "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy". I am sitting here amongst greatness. What an inspiration. What a motivator. Thank you sooooo much for sharing. Big Hugs to you! -
Me too- I had a lot of trouble the first few weeks and now I am at week 8 post-op. I am with you on that we would get a warning signal from our stomachs, I would think. And its not like we can take gulps after gulps- I usually have to wait 5-10 minutes before I can gulp again.
-
I've heard most surgeons fix that problem during your surgery. Nice huh :-)
-
I can take two and I am with you- I don't have any pain or discomfort. I think we are okay because liquid passes quickly through the sleeve as opposed to actually sitting in the stomach meaning solids) which might stretch if we are taking in too much. Just my two cents
