How Long After Surgery Can Someone Eat Hotdogs
geno5150 replied to drelex210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started eating them again at quarter after never. I refuse to put that crap in my body after all this work, free or not. -
Anyone Have A Problem With Cucumbers?
geno5150 replied to Strangefruit's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I would listen to what your doctor says instead of asking relative stangers on the Internet for advice on your medical care. I was also very sick of my limited food choices, but I was much more sick of being a gigantic fatso, so it was a reasonable price to pay for a lifetime of poor choices in my case. -
3 B Question! Bra, Bananna, And Bad Breath!
geno5150 replied to MrsM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't help you on #1- at least not that I will admit. For #2- you should be able to eat banana in the pureed stage since they are so mushy. i was grinding them into my shakes for a little flavor and bulk in liquids. It mostly depends on your doctor's timeline for you. For #3- welcome to ketosis. Now that you are burning fat for energy, bad breath is your new best friend. There is nothing you can do to stop it, unfortunately. -
4 Moaths Out Need Some Advice
geno5150 replied to phillygirl8133's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
With meats, I have found that I just need to eat less of some of them and spread it out over 5-6 meals a day. -

When Could You Swallow Pills?
geno5150 replied to Lovemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started after about a week when my surgeon said it was OK to do so. Omeprazole in yogurt is pretty nasty. -
3 Weeks Out....help
geno5150 replied to Carolina1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any chance you may have picked up a bug along the way? -
I would rather drink a glass of diarrhea than ever eat cream of wheat again. Just my personal opinion.

Call the insurance company every day to check. You are paying for it, so put them to work.

Am I Doing This Right?
geno5150 replied to TheNEWME!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you'll pardon me for this, but I believe only your BM can tell you if you've had enough cheese, if you get my meaning. Nutritionally, there ain't a whole lot of options in soft foods. -
Ditto that. Many times, things feel stuck because they are stuck.

I've Had Surgery, Now What?
geno5150 replied to mzblacque's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While I never experienced a leak, I can only imagine that after two major surgeries, its going to take your body a while to get back up and running again while it's healing. I would give it a good month or so until you can begin getting back to a more normal schedule and see how you are doing. -
1 Mo. Post Op! Life's Amazing!
geno5150 replied to Donny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just threw out a bunch of old Casual Male catalogs myself. It is nice to be paying high prices for style instead of square footage these days. -
Am I Doing This Right?
geno5150 replied to TheNEWME!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely sounds like the first stall has hit. Give it two or three weeks an see how it goes. The diet looks about right: bland and totally unappealing, just like it should be at that stage. -
Plateau And Weight Gain

If it's still 28 pounds a month from now, you have permission to panic. Until then, consider yourself absolutely normal. -
Will I Be Completely Weak On So Little Fuel?
geno5150 replied to amytug's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
3-500 calories after sugery seems to be on the low side. Most that I have seen are around 1000 calories per day. I would probably mention hypoglycemia to your doctor and nutritionist so they can set you up with glucose testing and customize you diet to keep your blood sugar levels stable- maybe supplement with medication or spread your meals out through the day? -
To combat the clothing dilemma, I've spent a few days on youtube and taught myself how to sew. I've taken in and shortened a ton of my old clothes to extend the life of my fat stuff and now my medium-fat stuff. I had a stark discussion with the Mrs. when I made a reference to my "sewing pile" the other day and how much time I am spending at the machine. Mind you, the Mrs. had a raised eyebrow at first, but has fully embraced it now that I've altered a number of her clothes as well. Had I know how fun (and easy) this was, I would have made a different career choice years ago.

Vsg Causes Accelerated Aging?

If you mean ghrelin, there really isn't a lot of definitve research and a whole lot of guessing right now. Nobody is really sure what ghrelin does. -
4Th Day If Liquid Diet...feeling Down
geno5150 replied to READY TO LOSE IT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, the good news is you will be able to eat again. Just not as much. If you go into it with a quality over quantity mindset, you don't really miss it a whole lot. -
I Am So Thrilled For You! Behind You 100%!......sike
geno5150 replied to dee.jay.bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In her defense, she did tell you the truth, even though she took the long way around. Does your doctor have a support group meeting you could take her to? Her objections sound pretty weak, so I have a feeling she wants to support you but needs some help doing so. The fact that she was able to be honest, even though the method sucks balls, I think shows a lot of character rather than continuing to lie to you. Chin up! -
Not Losing 8 Months From Surgery
geno5150 replied to Spirit Fire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I'm sure being so close to goal that the pounds are going to be a lot harder to shed. What about your non-weight measurements over the last 7 weeks? Are you losing inches? -
Objections From Loved Ones
geno5150 replied to happyfam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you think that parents may feel some sense of responsibility for their kids having weight issues? I know mine do, even though they have never come out and said it. It may be guilt that makes them reluctant to support this decision, IMO. -
You're welcome. Glad I could help.

A Little Down :(
geno5150 replied to crisanthemum85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look at it a different way: I have three kids, one boy and two girls. A friend of mine has three boys. What am I doing wrong to not have three boys? Nothing, of course. We are two different families. Unless all your friends that have had the surgery are identical clones of you that eat, work, live and breathe in an identical fashion to you every second of the day, it isn't reasonable to compare your weight loss to theirs. That is really the only thing you are doing wrong here- 27 pounds in a couple of months is fantastic.
