I've lost approx 75 lbs and although I look great web clothes on, my skin is very loose and looks weird when I'm sitting in shorts, etc. Any suggestions on "at home" exercising that can be done to tone? I was thinking Pilates DVDs but wondering if anything has worked for you. I have a 2 yr old and my husband and I work different shifts so that leaves me 8-10pm at night at home while my son sleeps as exercise time. I'm aware that I will prob need to get some skin removed but I'd prefer to help it now with exercise.

Success feels like cheating
Ashleigh Childress replied to Ashleigh Childress's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks all. I'm not ashamed but I do feel it is a personal topic and wanted to know if anyone else understood what I was feeling. The band has made weight loss very easy for me whereas in the past I'd never lose more than 40 lbs before it would start to creep back on. -
Both my brothers are one it. However one brother stopped after he lost 40 lbs and gained most of it back. The other brother is still going strong but he sells the stuff so he has to.

I used to get headache As well. I wasn't getting enough protein. Try protein shots. Find them at health food stores or online. They may help or drink more protein.

Does Anyone Knw If Flying Effects Restriction
Ashleigh Childress replied to anewme0108's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would like to know this as well. I am getting married in September and then heading to Cabo for our honeymoon. I also have to travel to LA and Vegas in August. I'm a little concerned after reading your post that this is going to screw me up. How much Fluid is in your band and how big is your band? Were you in the green zone prior to flying? How long was your flight? Are there other times you feel tight prior to this flying incident? -
Today... I have had three PBR episodes. My last fill put me in the green zone. I've been eating good and exercising well. I've also been eating slow. My question is mainly for the women on this site. I'm about to start my period and I'm wondering if any other women experienced a tighter band before her period??? Is. this normal that I need to be extra careful before my period?? Just curious... Ladies only please let me know if you've experienced the same thing and any tips you have ... 4.5 cc in 10 cc band... Lost 29 lbs since April 17th. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

Bandster H*** Stinks
Ashleigh Childress replied to JulieC74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my 3rd full on 6/20. I now have 4.5cc and I feel as though I may have approached the green zone. I've lost 2.5 lbs this week and have successfully pushed away healthy choices at a Mexican food restaurant and Chinese food with my hubby. I do have a PBR tonight when I thought I was eating very slowly and chewing my food to superfine consistency... But I guess I wasn't slow enough. Bandster Hell sucks but stick with it. Use that time to get a good exercise regimen started and stick with the rules. It's tough, I questioned the money I spent on the surgery through that process but now that I've reached a point where I want to make healthy decisions and don't need to eat as much to feel full, I'm reminded that it is with it. Stick with it and log your food! Good luck. -

Clothes Are Loose But Scale Is Not Moving
Ashleigh Childress posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banded 4/17/12- 22 lbs lost (260 lbs to 238 lbs). 3rd fill today (total 4.5cc in 10cc band) So I've been at the same weight for a few weeks. I watch what I eat and try VERY HARD to stay under 1250 calories (Net). I've been working out at least 3 times a week including weight training. I've become more active... and I am seeing changes in my body. Clothes are fitting looser and I'm able to fit into some of my smaller clothes (started a size 20/22 and now on the verge of a size 18). I can see the definition in my legs and arms- I feel thinner but can't justify it with numbers. BUT I'm not seeing the results on the scale. I know what everyone says... Don't listen to the scale... Don't pay attention to the scale... but I'm a numbers person... that's how I understand things and how I see results... This is frustrating. I'm hoping the fill I had today will help. The exercising and weight training is making me more hungry and I'm fighting that off. My stomach growls at me and I ignore it but it's obnoxious. Has anyone experienced this where they are seeing physical results but no results on the scale? And if so, when did you start to see the results on the scale? Is it something where the scale finally catches up to you one day?- 16 replies

Is The My Fitness Pal Calorie Count For Exercuse Too High ?!
Ashleigh Childress replied to bigenuff's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes. I believe it is off considerably. Notice that it doesn't ask you the level of energy exerted... meaning for the elliptical machine... it doesn't ask you what level or program or what your heart rate was. I usually trust the machine I am on -OR- you can search it online to get a more accurate count... then I manually change the calories expended... luckily the ap allows you to do that. @bigenuff - 1600 cals for moving furniture... definitely off... I DO know that you do expend a lot of calories that way... -
No Drinking During Meals, Why????
Ashleigh Childress replied to ClaudiaG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This was/is especially hard for me. My husband and I have a routine for dinner and it includes getting each other drinks... so I have to remind myself everytime that I do not want a drink with my meal... plus I don't get a lot of water intake throughout the day and relied on my meal beverage to help with that... -
Clothes Are Loose But Scale Is Not Moving
Ashleigh Childress replied to Ashleigh Childress's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
@ Honk. Let me clarify. I'm working out 3-5 days a week but at minimum I try and get in 3 days. Last week, I didn't work out at all and ate horribly (according to my standards) due to a sales meeting and I lost 2 lbs... so I don't understand why I'm not losing weight on the scale when I do work hard and then when I stop, I lose weight... So confusing. I understand it's not a sprint... When I've lost weight in the past, the lbs seemed to come off faster with less input... -
Dr. Robert Snow - Is anyone out there?
Ashleigh Childress replied to justmermp's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am also one of his patients. I was banded on 4/17/12- down 22 lbs. 3rd fill today for a total of 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I love this doctor and his staff is amazing. They have been so cooperative even when I feel like I am being bothersome. Jennifer is awesome! I recommend Dr Snow. -

Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info
Ashleigh Childress replied to Penni60's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry but I think your doctor is not correct in saying that. The band can be placed in without any fluid, as my doctor did. After the initiall swelling, the band must receive a fill in order to have restriction. Sometimes it takes 4-5 fills before you feel any restriction. I've had 2 fills and I am still hungry. I eat what I'm told and work out 4-5 days a week. Sounds like you should check out another doctor . You should also read some of the books regarding lapbands. Of course everyone is different and there are all types of bands. I have the 10cc band and was banded 4/17/12. I'm down 20 lbs and have had 2 fills resulting in 3ccs. I have another fill scheduled in 2 weeks. -
What Does It Feel Like To Be Stuck....
Ashleigh Childress replied to amandacoop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only had one episode of feeling tuck and ending up having to excuse myself to the bathroom. For me, I felt panicked and like there was a huge lump/ball of food half way down my esophagus. It hurt so bad. I couldn't talk or anything. That only happened once and it was because I was eating too fast and didn't chew my food good enough. Sounds like you are Doing everything right. Banded 4/17. 10cc band. 1st fill 5/16 1.5 ccs. No restriction. 2nd fill today 6/4. 1.5 ccs 3 Total ccs. 18 lbs lost. -

Fill Tomorrow Ques
Ashleigh Childress replied to c945105's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I got my first fill... I didn't have to do anything restrictive. I chose not to eat or drink anything a few hours before but I don't believe that is mandated. -
I had the hietal hernia repair as well as lapband. I thought I would e back to work on Monday when my surgery was on the Tuesday of the prior week. I tried to go back to work but instead ended up staying at home another week. The extra week of rest was needed.... Remember it is still a major surgery so be kind to your body and the healing process.
