I know how embarrassing that is - I got turned away for a pelvic ultrasound once. UGH!!! You will get your fill - this will work. All those embarrassing moments will become a part of your past. Hang in there!!

I don't say anything - especially in a situation like a grocery store or mall. I would tell a friend though - if only to save her from embarassment. Of course my son has a bloodhound nose and is very sensitive to smells (he has high functioning autism). We were at the checkout lane and the man in front of us STUNK (he was not overweight - he just had atrocious hygeine)! Here goes my bloodhound sniffing all around "What is that smell Mommy?" All of a sudden my little angel goes on point, raises his pointer finger and says very loudly "It is that MAN, it is that stinky MAN!! That STINKY MANY needs a bath Mommy" I almost swallowed my tongue from trying not to laugh (even though I was mortified)

*snort* I think he is being a little silly about it but...eh. He is a great guy and I love him so I will go along with his little eccentricity.

Here is my progress from the last month. I can't really see that much of a difference. The most difference is in my face but my DH would have a freaking heart attack if I posted my face on the internet - he is just sure that as soon as I have my face online someone is going to steal the image and use it in some porn image. I quess I should feel flattered....:faint:

How much money do you save now on your food bill??
Hazelbunny replied to areellady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I always bought alot of fresh fruits and vegetables before being banded. I quess that is why I am noticing the difference. I eat 1/4 pint of rasberries now instead of two pints, etc. -

Hazelbunny replied to areellady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was shocked by how much I ate. I mean I understood conceptually that I had to be packing away alot of food to maintain the weight that I had but so much of my eating was unconcsious. WOW - now we have so many leftovers I had to institute a "leftover smorgasbord night" into our weekly rotation. I haven't calculated the actual cost savings yet but it has made a difference. -
Houston Twelve Oaks Hospital
Hazelbunny replied to SchexyMomma's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I didn't have to do a barium swallow after surgery. I just had to drink a certain amount of fluids before I could be sent home. That sounds barbaric. For anyone considering surgery in Houston - Dr. Spivak and Park Plaza hospital were wonderful. I can't say enough good things about them. -
What time? I would like to go.

My youngest (I have 3) would not poop on the potty for 8 months after she was pee trained because she slipped and her little tush fell in. We had to try about 6 different potties until we hit the magic one. Even then when we transitioned to the big potty again I had to squat and let her hold my shoulders "just in case" she slipped. Trust me I feel your pain but this too shall pass.

It is amazing the difference in different parts of the country. I already have peppers and tomatoes growing.

I went last night. I liked seeing the plastic surgery pics. I am planning to have whatever needs to be done after I finish losing all my weight so the process, expense, results, etc. were very interesting to me.

I expected to not be able to eat bread, rice, and Pasta. I even thought chicken breast and certain veggies would be off the menu. But lunchmeat? I can eat the chicken, broccolli, even bread but one bite of lunch meat (by itself) causes an immediate golf ball in my chest. The band is a fickle fickle thing.

Hey JosieB Katygirl here - think a local group is a great idea. Were you at Spivak's tonight - I was there.

I have no idea - have you called spivak's office? Hope you feel better soon.

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Hazelbunny replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I thought I would share this with my fellow supersize bandsters. It has been a long time since I have been able to buy an article of clothing from Wal-mart. And only 17 bucks!! I was so excited. Plus I am only six pounds away from being under a 50 BMI. -
I can't have lunch meat. I haven't had a problem with anything else as long as I chew well and eat slowly.
-
I have the smaller band also. Despite my high BMI the surgeon said that I had very little fat around my organs so the big band would have made it hard to get adequate restriction. By the way - love your TWA! I can't wait to see the twists when it gets longer.

The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research
Hazelbunny replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in Rants & Raves
I realize that not everyone has the same beliefs and I do respect that. I do believe it is a stretch however to make the statement that there is no biblical case against abortion. I truly won't debate - I believe what I believe and you believe what you believe and arguing about it won't make a difference. You referenced what you based your belief on - my opinion is based on watching my child at 24 weeks cry, feel pain, be comforted by loving touch, and fight to survive and this verse from the bible..... Psalm 139 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. I think abortion cheats the child out of the life that could be and I think it is a selfish choice. There are waiting lists in this country for ALL types of infants - no matter what race or handicap. If a woman is incapable whether financially or emotionally to care for the child adoption is always an option. -
The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research
Hazelbunny replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in Rants & Raves
What bothers me is that women can have abortions after 24 weeks. My baby was born at 24 weeks and she is 9 now. It is one thing to abort an 8 week old embryo (which I am still not totally on board with). That baby has no chance of survival outside the womb. When our daughter was born we were told that she had a 64% chance of survival. I just don't understand how it can be legal to abort a child that has passed the age of viability just because you don't want it. YOu could carry to term and go the adoption route - at that point you only have s hort time of pregnancy left. -
Swimming after being banded
Hazelbunny replied to deanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I swim alot. I had to wait three weeks - until my incisions had healed completely. I would wait until your incisions are completely healed. After one of my surgeries I didn't wait until the incisions were completely closed up and I got an infection. Kids pee in pools and pee is not sterile (despite what some people think) -
current & former super size bandsters - exercise
Hazelbunny replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know this is an old post but I thought I would chime in. I started exercising one year ago. When I first started going to the gym I could only do 10 minutes on the treadmill and 1 MINUTE on the elliptical. My blood pressure was about 150 over 100 and I got out of breath walking in from the parking lot. Cut to one year later - I can complete an hour long spinning class, an hour on the elliptical and I never get out of breath anymore. Yesterday when I went for my first fill my blood pressure was 104/69. Start slow and build up gradually - you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. -
Went for my first fill today - I don't know what I was getting so worked up over - it was nothing. They laid me down, stuck the needle in, and put 1.5 cc's in (my band holds 4 ccs). It did feel kind of weird when they put the Fluid in - like a cold rush in my tummy. Drank the little cup of barium in front of the machine and voilá - done. I have the full feeling back from right after surgery. It is nice. On another note - I have been walking since my surgery but I went back to my normal, somewhat hardcore (for someone my size) exercise routine yesterday - my hour long spinning class. Does anyone else notice that strenous exercise makes them feel tighter?

To get my husband to agree to me having this surgery I had to also agree to one year of counseling. I was and am an emotional eater. His theory was that when I lost my "outlet" (food) I would have alot of emotions along with it. He was afraid that I would switch one addiction for another which I think is more common than people realize. I have also found that when people lose a lot of weight they tend to go through an adolescent phase - particularly if they were never thin as teenagers. I pray you will find the help that you need. I think you are very brave for sharing your story.

I have my first fill scheduled for Friday. All of a sudden in the last couple of days I have gotten hungry and I don't get full near as fast as before. I am on regular food now - chicken has never tasted so good.
