Got a fill 2 weeks ago and it was too tight. So I got stuck and threw up and it swell and I was in lots of pain. Went to ER at 3am to get an unfill. It instantly gave me relief.

I had issues with my band on the weekend. Went to Sunrise Hospital, they have a bariatric program. Called other hospitals and the had no idea what I was talking about. Just incase anything ever happens, keep Sunrise in your thoughts.

I was in terrible pain last night at 2am after throwing up from 430pm that I decided to try the ER. My surgeon is 5 hours away and this was friday might so I called a few hospitals and asked if they had a bariatric doctor if I come in and of course they had no idea what I was talking about. Then I called one and there was actually a recording advertising for bariatric surgery. I took my chances, went there and the bariatric doc was the on call doc. I felt so lucky cause nobody else had any idea what I was even talking about. So anyways the doc took out all my fill to let it heal from the swelling. I was in so much pain and immediately after he took out the fill I had instant relief. I'm doing better but gonna be on liquids for a few days.

I'm going to call Monday morning to see if I can see someone else. My surgeon comes in town every 2 weeks and he was just here this week. I really think more ER's should be aware of bariatric complications. Nobody except the surgeon had any idea.

Hi. I'm in Las Vegas too! Banded may 17, 2012. As of today, down 75 lbs. best thing I have ever done for myself!
-
The first is obviously right after surgery. The 2nd is 8 months after. There are tiny marks but nothing major.

Oh my, I had shredded beef at 5 pm and finally got relief from being stuck at 1030pm. That was by far the worst I've ever been thru. I threw up so much that now my throat AND JAW are killing me. They hurt so bad. I contemplating going to the ER but kept telling myself to wait it out. I tried everything from jumping up and down to pineapple juice which just came back up but helped to break some of it up a little. That was just horrible and I wanted to die.

Wire Coming From Belly Button Port Site
april22ky posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded on May 18th. I was in the grocery store and felt something on my belly button, I looked down at my belly button and saw what I thought was a hair coming out of my incision area. When I got home I tried to pull the "hair" out but realized real quick that it was not a hair. My incision started bleeding and I realized it was wire coming out of my incision at my port site. My best guess is that this is the wire they use to attach the port to the abdominal wall? Should I be worried about this? Did the surgeon not cut the wire short enough? It's now Friday night and I can't exactly get ahold of the surgery center or my doctor's office. Anyone have any advice? -

Still Tender Above My Belly Button...normal?
april22ky posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded on 05/18. I am still sore right above my belly button (I assume this is my port). I only have 4 incisions and 3 of them are tiny and one is larger at my belly button. Directly above my belly button it is still tender. I know I am only 11 days post-op, but does this tenderness go away or remain at the site of the port? I'm mainly asking because I'm in law enforcement and have to wear a gun belt and am trying to keep my uniform and gun belt under my belly button, although it normally is right at my waistline at my belly button. I want to know if I can resume wearing the same pants or if I have to buy men's pants that may fit lower. -
Today Is A Struggle...
april22ky replied to alisonmagill's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm right there with you! I had my surgery the friday before you (5/18) and the first time I felt hunger was on the following Thursday. Now I'm hungry a lot, and it's real hunger. Having a protein shake, a cup of jello and broth is not filling me up. I feel like I've been "cheating" lately and need to regain my focus. I think we just need to get to the first fill. Apparently this time is called "bandster hell" because you don't have restriction from the fill. I keep telling myself it will get easier. Maybe you can keep that first fill as your first short term goal. If I am down 15-20 lbs they I will be happy. My surgeon said "maybe you will lost weight, maybe you won't, but don't let it discourage you." -
Feeling So Guilty About What I've Been Eating
april22ky posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 05/18, and up until Saturday (one week out) was doing very well with it. I went out to eat with my family on Saturday and ate a little bit of chili and then again on Sunday I ate some tuna. I am suppose to be on a "thick liquid diet" for 3 weeks but chili and tuna aren't liquid. That tuna was so good that I ate tuna again Monday and again today. I am feeling so guilty about it and am now reading all this info about if you "cheat" during your first few weeks then there are chances of slippage and the pouch above the band expanding. Now I'm scared and regretting all that I ate. I'm not over-eating, I'm just suppose to be on liquids for another week and a half, but I find myself so hungry!! -
Post Op Bill For $75,000...freaking Out!
april22ky replied to NewMissB's topic in Insurance & Financing
My guess is that you'd get a very large sized check from bcbs. I know the place I go to had said bcbs will send a check and they MUST bring it in and write it over to them. If the patient deposits the check then they charge them the full amount. They work "out of network" and don't negotiate with the insurance companies and then they write off the balance. Hope that helps but you may wanna make a phone call or two. I personally don't have bcbs. -
Hi there. I just had lap band surgery on Friday, May 18th. I'm still trying to recover, I am still sore in my stomach. My surgeon went through my belly button and it is extremely sore and I can't put on my work pants yet. I've been struggling since I got out on Friday. I try to take the prescribed meds (Lortab elixer) but find it making me nauseous since I don't have much in my stomach. I was suppose to return to work today, but am still having a hard time getting up and down because of the pain in my stomach. I've read others say they're feeling great right after. I have lost 10 lbs since Friday but I find it very difficult to stomach anything I put in it. I have been drinking protein shakes, eating jell-o and broth. I hope I start to feel better and this is actually normal of a few days post-op. I look forward to sharing my story with all of you and hearing your adventure thru this process!

Hi band twin! My mother got the band back in September and it seemed like her recovery wasn't quite as bad as mine. Her surgeon made 5 incisions, my surgeon made 4 incisions but one thru the belly button and that one is giving me a lot of pain. How many did you have?
