Banded Today -Gas Is Killing Me, Help
iamcindylou replied to Lovemythreems's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Tuesday. The gas is horrible. I walked around our local kiddie park twice yesterday and believe I'm headed out there again when I get my clothes on! Funny, I was having pain in my left shoulder last night and wondered if it was gas. After reading posts, I guess it was. Later all...I've got some gas to get rid of! LOL! -

cfurrey...This is an exciting time! It's natural to be nervous. You made this choice for a reason. Take a deep breath and remember why you are doing this. It's going to be hard, but soooooo worth the journey. We will all be here to support each other. You can do this. I am 54 years old and not nervous at all. I'm not sure why, maybe my excitement has taken over. I have less than a week and can't wait! Hollar if you need a pick me up!!! Big hug!!! -

Wheres My June Bandsters??
iamcindylou replied to mcuevas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey all...I've been on what they called a modified liquid diet since a week ago today. My bariatric nurse said that if I'm hungry, eat. She said to make good choices like nonfat/lowfat, which I've done. I am down 7 lbs. I've eaten strawberries, watermellon, some grilled fish and chicken. As far as the liquids, it's been protein shakes, tomato basil soup (Progresso) which is wonderful along with nonfat cottage cheese, plain fat free greek yogurt with dry sugar free jello mixed in (which is pretty good) some skim milk, sugar free pudding and pudding pops. My doc didn't require me to lose weight prior. He said it was to reduce the fat around the liver. The first couple of days of the pre op diet I was sick! I had bad headaches and sick to my stomach. I am so much better since I added a little food in there. Hang in there everyone...it'll all be worth it! We've got this!!! I will be banded next Tuesday June 5th!!! -
Agreed. We all gained weight because of our issues. I'm sure there are few that breeze on through without struggles. We have to look at the banding as a tool and if we aren't ready to face the issues that got us there in the first place, it's going to be fruitless. As foodies, we are so used to failure. This to me is HUGE. I told myself a long time ago that if I ever got the opportunity to be covered through insurance that I would give it my all. I'm not saying that I am going to be a success story, I just know that this is my last ditch effort...I hope that you are able to get some help. I will keep you in my prayers! Much love and hugs!

How exciting Megatron! I was really surprised that my first appointment with the surgeon was set up within 2 weeks, then the appointments with the excercise guy, dietician and head doc were all set up for 2 weeks later. I did my labs, and upper gi about 2 weeks after that. The longest time was waiting for the approval from my insurance, which was less than 3 weeks. I'm scheduled next week, June 5th for my banding. I can't believe it's almost here! As for the pre-op diet, they gave me a modified liquid diet which I started a week ago yesterday. I'm down about 7 lbs or so but have actually eaten some. My bariatric nurse told me not to starve myself, if I am startving, eat something, but make sure it's the right stuff. I was getting a bit sick and had headaches every day. Progresso Tomato Basil soup has become one of my everyday eats. Everything has been nonfat or extremely low fat, like watermellon, strawberries, or a piece of grilled fish. I'm not nervey enough to do any shopping yet but I hope once the procedure is over and I start feeling better about myself I'll be out there looking for some new diggs! Congrats to you! Good luck at your heart doc...keep us posted! <3 -
Who Is Pre Op Dieting Over Memorial Day??
iamcindylou replied to Bamabander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@bamasleever...That's exactly how I've been feeling. I started on Tuesday, 2 weeks before banding. I guess we may not be getting enough to eat/drink. I'm going to ramp it up tomorrow and make myself choke down the shakes. I did have progresso tomato basil soup today and it was delicious. I might have to throw some protein powder in to fill me up. Good luck! My band date is for June 5th. When is yours/ -
After Surgery, Do Any Of You Struggle With Still Eating Too Fast ???
iamcindylou replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bariatric nurse told me that she had a patient that was in front of the tv watching the super bowl with a bowl of pretzels and was "mindless" eating. He wasn't paying attention and was "woofing down" and ended up at the hospital. So the lesson learned is no mindless eating! Old habits die hard! I get banded on June 5th! :0) -

Wheres My June Bandsters??
iamcindylou replied to mcuevas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my, what they call, modified liquid diet yesterday. I can have vegetable/fruit juices, fat free milk, protein shakes (blah) non-fat cottage cheese, pudding and Jello. I'm so dag-gone happy to finally having it done! Went through all the hoops 3 years ago only to have my insurance day that it wasn't covered. They said that our Blue Cross Blue Shield didn't have that rider. So...3 years later, Blue Cross Blue Shield from another employer...and it's a go! -
