I had to order a kit that the surgeon requires. Its a kit from BetterMD. Once you get closer to your date they will give you all the info you need to order it. (kinda pricey but no options on it) The kit had enough shakes for the 2 weeks pre and 1 week post. It also had a Fiber packet I had to drink every night. The last day before your surgery you have only clears and they give you a juice for that. I was never so happy to get that 2 weeks over! It does seem to be getting easier every day Lori

Hi Belinda! The first 4 days of the liquid diet are tough but I settled in after that. You wont be hungry but you will want food! You cant have much on the pre-op diet. You have 5 shakes a day and you can have 2 cups of raw veggies. They will give you a list of what you can have. I lived on sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles! Took me a while to get used to the shakes but I am ok with them now. My surgery went great! No complications and I healed fast. I am down 35 lbs as of this morning. Thats pre and post op weight though. Still I will take it! Dr Farhan was great. Only actually saw him the morning of the surgery briefly and he peeked in while in the hospital. My suggestion to you is to get up and walk walk walk after surgery. Helps with the healing and the gas. You will be sore, but by the time I got home I was pretty mobile. Good luck with everything and keep me posted Lori

Itchy Rash On Tummy A Week Out From Surgery
LoriRay replied to Thinner Peace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it..down my sides and across my tummy too. I was allergic to the liquid painkiller lortab (vicodin). They told me to stop taking it, gave me some cream and it was gone in 2 days. It was AWFUL. So itchy and it felt like poison ivy. I feel you!! -
I got the margarita, appletini and mohito flavors all from Dollar General. The margarita is my favorite!

I had all my favorite foods before surgery but I also was trying to lose some before the pre-op diet. So while I did order, or eat what I wanted, I used portion control. Example..1 slice of pizza or half a steak instead of all. I skipped a lot of the extras like the potatoes and breads and just had my favorite "main dish". I was still down 5 lbs before the pre-op diet started and I didnt feel like I had missed out on anything.

Anybody Trying To Quit Smoking Pre-Op?

Oh and I was told I HAD to quit by my surgeon. I was nicotine tested twice before they would do the surgery. -
Anybody Trying To Quit Smoking Pre-Op?
LoriRay replied to Bronxbubbles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit smoking December 26th. I got the prescription for Chantix and it helped a lot. I am now smoke free and was finally sleeved May 29th. Originally I thought I would just quit and then smoke again after surgery but I am really enjoying being smoke free now! I am proof that it can be done since I was a smoker for 30 years. I highly recommend quitnet.com for a good support forum. The chantix club has a great group of people. I still visit once a day! Good luck in your journey -

Why My Size Is The Same
LoriRay replied to daly contreras's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well this topic makes me feel much better! I am down 25 since my pre-op diet and surgery. I can see it in my face and shoulders and even back but my tummy didnt seem to be shrinking. I was sleeved on May 29th and I think I am even a bit swollen from surgery yet. Hopefully in the next week or 2 I notice a bigger difference! -
When I turned 40 I gave up nylons and carrots. I hated them both for years and I just went over the edge lol! I cant even imagine trying to wear spanx! I am all for a bonfire!

How Do I Raise My Vsg Plan With My Husband?
LoriRay replied to 1969lulu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just sat him down and told him I was ready to do this. Im not sure he believed me at first. Til I quit smoking for 6 months, and then no alcohol..but he was finally convinced I was going through with it when I gave up my caffienated coffee! I just told him, I have yo yo dieted all my life, down big lbs only to gain it all back..you know the routine. I said I have it in me to do it again, but I refuse to let myself gain it back and this is the tool I need to be succesful. Good luck -

Comment My Doctor Made That I Worry A Little About- Maybe Don't Look At This If Pre-Surgery
LoriRay replied to CelticHarpist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be very sore for the first few days. I was sleeved 5-29. Stayed in for 2 nights. The hardest part is getting in and out of the hospital bed. Today is day 10 and I am feeling great! You will be fine. I have never had any kind of surgery before and I was scared to death but it isnt all that bad. Good luck to you Lori -
I would think that with your bmi that even if you insurance co. is picky they probably would approve you. Some folks with a bmi over 50 dont have to wait long at all. Just a thought. My out of pocket was just over $1000.00. It took me 7 months to get approved but I didnt have any of the co-morbidities. Once I dig my heels in though it finally came through. I am persistant! Good luck to you Lori

I am doing very well! I have lost 24 lbs since I started the pre-op diet. Surgery went good also. I was in for 2 nights. (standard for them) I had my first check up on Tuesday and all is good. Had an allergic reaction to the liquid vicodin and broke out in a rash all over. That was not pleasant but its going away now. Good luck to you! It took me 7 months total but I did not have any of the co-morbidities that go along with a lot of patients do. I think honestly having that time to prepare was good for me too. I read a lot. This is a good site to get info from. Lori

Welcome Moe, I was also sleeved on May 29th and can not wait for some scrambled eggs too! We have a May facebook sleevers page if you are on facebook. Send a friend request to Sharon Ivanauskas and she can add you. There are 113 of us as of today!

Hi all, I was sleeved 5-29. I had my fist post op appt today and I have lost 20 lbs since May 14th. That is when I started my liquid pre-op diet. I had actually gained some right after surgery but they told me it was all from the surgery. Excited to see where I am at for my full 2 weeks which will be next Tuesday.

Ladies-- How Did You Keep Up With Bra Sizes?!
LoriRay replied to vanb0052's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok you all just convinced me. SOLD! I just put an order in on bed bath and beyond. 20 for 2. If you go to geniebra.com they have buy 3 get 3 free but it works out to the same price. about 10 per bra. Still a good deal! Only problem with the site is you would get 6 of the same size. they dont break them down. So i ordered from BBB and got 2 2x and 2 1x for down the road Lori -
Kind of the same consistancy of cough syrup.
-
I just took a dose 5 minutes ago. It is syrupy but not thick. Its more of a watery consistence. Hope that helps. And ya..it tastes terrible! Lori
-
Girl you need to say something to them. My guess is they dont even realize they are doing it. I would also set aside a lunch for yourself the next day before you even serve the food. Just take part of it and pack it in the fridge. That way they can fight over whats left and you arent feeling so frustrated. Make sure they know thats MOMMAS lunch and hands off

How ya feeling? I had mine done on the 29th. Feeling pretty good! Lori
