What has weight kept you from doing?
casper2101 replied to Blessed1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had never purchased anything from Vicoria's secret until recently (before this purchase the secret would have been what the heck am I going to do with these things). I can fit into airplane seats and retaurant booths comfortably. I can just move and breath with greater ease. The lap band was truly the tool I needed to jump my flight to being 50 and fabulous!!!! -
My favorite oldie is by Betty Wright "Tonight is the the Night that you make me a woman"---now that's old school!!

You can find it at any nutrition store, Walmart, or local pharmacy. You will need to get the 1000mg tablets. The pills are not very large and I just split them in half, you can also crush them.

Emotional Eating
casper2101 replied to southerngirl24's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a therapist and work with people who have had the lap band as well as having the band myself. It is important that we get in touch with all of our emotions and what they mean to us. I think too often we use food as a socialy acceptable way to numb our feelings. However, just like any other adequate we end up with some ugly consequences from our behavior. I am a firm believer that the journey to weight loss is one deep inside of yourself...you have to examine the good, the bad, and the ugly and obtain a healthy balance. -
I have been banded for almost 2 years and I have not had any problems with hair loss. I have always taken biotin since WLS which is a supplement to help with hair and nails. As a matter of fact my petite 21 year old neice had thin hair and has used biotin which has helped her hair greatly.

Shhh...Keep it in the Closet!?
casper2101 replied to aprilapple's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I shared my journey with all of my friends and family. I made the decision to have the lap band to improve my life and the opinons of others did not matter. My male friend of 28 years told me that my weight did not matter to him. I quickly informed him that I was not doing it for him but for me. I have learned that it is none of my business what other people think or say about me as long as I am happy being me. Telling others is a personal choice and I am fortunate that I had friends who were supportive and 2 years post band are still supportive. -

Keeping it a secret?
casper2101 replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have told my family, friends, co-workers. I made a decision to change save my life and I don't care who knows it. I have not heard any negative comments but I have inspired other people to take the same step to save their own lives. People will not always agree with us or support us...but what really matters is how we feel about what we do!!!! new member...road block...

Christy, I was banded in Dalton, GA by Dr. Ponce. I have had many different types of surgery but I think he is an excellent surgeon who wants his patients to do well. I know that there are other less expense options so I encourage you to explore those as well. I understand your struggle but I also understand the hardships of living with obesity.
