    How about some NSVs!?!?

I am able to open the gas tank as the lever is on the side of my seat on the floor without having to open the door.

    Protein bars!

I have made several Protein bars and use the woman at work as my testers and have been asked for some more. Look up online and you can make them pretty cheap and I freeze some of mine and wrap them in wax paper or plastic snack bags. I can send you a 4 ingredient one if you want it.

    Starting stage 3

Be careful with the potato. It's really a starch. Try cream of wheat the healthy one mixed with milk. chicken in the crock pot. Beef in the crock pot, very easy to shred. I froze shredded meats in muffin tins and them popped into freezer bags. I even cooked a large pot of chili in the crock pot and froze 25 muffin tins worth ( they pop right out like ice cubes) and I measured 1/4 of a cup o the chili and then wen you defrost add some cheese on top. Great portion control too. I also purchased 4oz Rubbermaid containers and divided yogurt and cheese up, even scrambled eggs or the cream of wheat. All to keep my meal under the oz my NUT said. I am 3 months out and still measure this way. I have a small Pyrex custard cup I use at work and know that once I fill my food to the line it's 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup taking into consideration the space. I sometimes can't finish that but try hard to get the Protein in. I eat a lot of Beans and Lima beans for Snacks plus peanuts or yogurt measured out. Let me know I you need some recipes. Also check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.com She had a lot of recipes and I have tried several.

Depends on what your dr give you for food. I ate eggs, Soups, cream of wheat. Puréed foods like chicken or roast. Little bites. What's in your list of foods?

    To those with young children...

I have three children and I explained it to each of them and let them ask me any questions they wanted. Their ages are 10, 8 and 5. Honestly I spoke to them on the phone but they are very supportive and we gave them each jobs to do while their grandmother, my mother, was here from out of state when I was in the hospital. All three I them helped me for several weeks after surgery and know what I can and can't have. My son who is almost 11 now actually orders a Side with his dinner for me to eat so that I am able to eat out with them. They all give me a piece of something but are very caring because I walked through everything with them. My surgery was 1-23-2013 and they were in school so I didn't keep them with me. Good luck. I find being open with them is good so when you say No thanks I don't want that they completely understand. We also explained to them that they don't need to broadcast it to everyone as its a family matter and they are really good about it.

Daily diet post op -- What is a normal day?

I purchased a bunch of Rubbermaid 3 and 4 oz containers and that is what I eat my lunch out of at work. So if I make chili and brig to work I bring in a big container and I measure into the 4 oz. I also purchased a really cute appetizer bowl too that is a little over 4 oz so I eat out of that as well. Work wise, if we go out as a team I end up just getting a side dish and taking most home and having a cut of meat from my friend as she is a body builder well cross fit girl so she eats a lot of lean meat and Keats asks for extra veggies and I take a piece of her meat am se eats the rest if my side. Same when I go out with my husband and kids. Goo luck.

    What are your portion sizes?

I eat 3-4 oz for lunch ad dinner. I am 10 weeks out. Depending in what I am eating. Chili, meat, about 3 oz. I can eat a full yogurt late in the afternoon for my snack 5 oz but the dinner is about 3

    Food Portions

My NUT would say that's too much. I can have 1/4 of a cup of total food at a sitting. I wouldn't do the microwave meals as the carb could would be high. Chili, egg beaters, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt (plain no fruit yet). Depending on what your NUT said. I had cream of wheat, 1/2 the serving but it was the protein one. Tomato soup with milk and plain protein powder.

    Sick before Bypass

I got sick on Sunday, had surgery on scheduled for Wed. My dr called in Avelox 400 mg and said to take it up ill the night before surgery, last dose at midnight. I was fine, I get really sick one time or twice a year and this one was bad! My primary didn't want me to not have the surgery. The surgeon was happy. Good luck.

    So frustrated!

I had surgery on January 23rd and am down 32 lbs. I just had me 6 week visit and the dr said I am doing great. I asked what the goal is normally as I have stalled and they said that in the first 6 weeks they look to hit 25 to 35 and they ate pleased where I am. A few of the people I had surgery with are at the same spot. They told me to shake up some of the woods so your body doesn't get used to it. Good luck

Weight gain about 3 weeks post op..

You are doing well. I am almost 4 weeks out and o gained at 3 weeks. I found out that it was fluid and after a BM you may be surprised. I am down 25 lbs since DOS. Nut says that gaining weight is normal as your fluid, salt, BM's vary. Good luck and don't stress out.

    yogurt help!

Try mixing in some sugar free pudding. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of milk with the pudding mix to Greek plain yogurt. Input in fridge until its cold. I have also frozen it for a little bit too for an ice cream treat

    Question

I purchased the one ounce containers made by Rubbermaid. We also got the ones that show 4 oz but have marks where 1 and 3 oz are. Good luck.
