Has Surgery Changed Anyone's Marriage? Good Or Bad
becky444 replied to 303Gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can absolutely understand your concerns. I think you should talk about them with him. You are right, when one person experiences a period of growth for any reason, the other person can feel left behind. If you talk about it with him, though, you can both be conscious of choosing to compromise on some areas. Does it really matter if you spend the money on a place if you can't eat much? Probably not if it makes him happy. Are there activities you can do together that aren't intense activities or where you can be intense and he can be less (like him riding a bike while you jog)? Sure, and he may be willing to spend some time each week doing that to keep your relationship good. You won't know unless you approach him with it though! -
How Long Until You Felt Normal Again
becky444 replied to newlifeforlittleME's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I returned to work the next week, but I wouldn't advise it. I felt sick and was exhausted, and I left early a few days. I had to move quite a bit at work though, so maybe being at the desk won't be so hard. Good luck! -

Bariatric Supplements
becky444 replied to jrabbit81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't get the Bariatric Advantage ones...I had to stop taking them because they were making me sick. They are really disgusting. Right now I'm taking Flintstones. -

Omg I Just Ate Cake 8 Days After Surgery
becky444 replied to Mishy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mishy, I think that sometimes people should come off the liquid diet sooner than recommended. I'm not saying you should do this, but maybe talk to your doctor. I very slowly went into purees after 9 days on liquids, because I felt starving and sick all the time on liquids. When I added in small amounts of purees I felt so much better and started going 3 hours without feeling the need to eat. Everyone does heal differently, and I think we need to listen to our bodies. I remember craving so much during the liquid phase, but as I advanced through the diet the cravings have lessened because I am more satisfied with what I eat! Having some very thin mashed potatoes at 8 days out will surely be better for you (if your doctor approves) than cake and ice cream and will leave you feeling satisfied, not scared and guilty! -
Determining Goal Weight?
becky444 replied to ThisTimeIsIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think for me the best way to decide is to think of a healthy weight I have been before. I'm 5'2 and most people would say I should be around 110-120, but I know that is not realistic for me. I was 140lbs 12 years ago, and wearing a size 10, and that is good enough for me! -
"all Things In Moderation"?
becky444 replied to JenniJune's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
JenniJune, you should read Geneen Roth's Feeding the Hungry Heart. It is exactly about what you are talking about...that deprivation leads to more problems. It was a good read! -
Check your drain site for redness or drainage aroung the site. Mine did get infected, and I was in horrible pain until it was pulled. If it looks infected, go see your doctor! I started feeling myself 2 days after that was pulled. Good luck, I remember my big crying day after surgery and it was no fun, but it will get better!

Bariatric Supplements
becky444 replied to jrabbit81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would not waste the money on the Bariatric Advantage chewable...I hardly used them! They all taste horrible, and always made me sick. I stopped using them after a week...lots of money down the drain! -
List Of Can/can't Eat Foods...
becky444 replied to Parker's Dad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say, I was moderately lactose intolerant before surgery. I could have yogurt and kefir, some cheeses, no milk or cream, no ice cream (not that that stopped me!) Post surgery, I am living on dairy! I'm kinda amazed at how few problems I am having. The only thing I can think of is that I am having much smaller portions at a time than I would have...2-3 oz of cheese instead of a brick! I'm still surprised after reading how many people become lactose intolerant from the surgery
