$1,986.64 = 10% (estimated surgery cost is $65,000.00 insurance payable amount is $19860.00)
My preop appt consisted of weight 269, height 5-6.5", urine sample, blood work, EKG, and a chest X-ray . Everything took maybe a couple hours. I was seen immediately and was quickly taken cared of at Orlando Health. They were very thorough with explaining location and the dos and donts. I was told the estimated amount of this surgery is $65k and the insurance allowable portion is $20 so out of pocket I have paid to the hospital $2,142.00 (not including meds and prep foods) not bad considering the surgery is so expensive. I just hope no other bills are sent to me... Now on to patiently waiting for surgery day. Angel, susan, and Sally will be waiting in the waiting area.Â
7-5-12 Thursday @271lbs w clothes on:
My surgery went well. Things were behind schedule a bit and was needing to use the bathroom and they gave me a bed pan that I couldn't use, it was mentally difficult. I wasnt in pain bc of the anesthesia/pain medicine but I needed to use the bathroom from noon til 5pm weaseawand they didn't want me to stand up bc I would have fainted. Finally made it to my room 1125 on the 11th floor and made it tithe bathroom in tears bc of being in so much pain. The nurse wanted to give me Tylenol for the pain, he must have been out of his mind. Then my mom and dad came, and monica. They gave me dalatten bc it's stronger than morphine and it worked however I was very nauseous. Hard to walk not bc I can't bc of the medicine that made me feel motion sickness. My sutures feel fine they are covered up neatly and I can't see them but can feel them. During the evening at 11pm I got the worst pain in my ribcage, I guess it was the gas, it was so painfully it brought me to tears. It felt like a balloon being inflated in my ribs past capacity. Then I got some dalatten and tuemul pain medicine. Today I have to drink blue dye to check for leaks but I feel ok. (no bm)
7-6-12 FridayÂ
Checking for leaks. My nurse is going to give me blue dye to drink today, btw she has been amazing in helping in my recovery. I ate 15oz of broth and half cup of jello and an Italian ice. I have to get used to eating these smaller amounts. They are pretty filling actually so I am shocked but I go home tomorrow and want to weigh myself to see how this is going. But so far less pain than day 1 that's for sure. (stayed an extra day therefore $250 hospital copays) (no bm)

Weighed myself at home @4:30pm 264.2
Ate 1/2 cup of jello @4:30pm
