Hi my name is Terri... I never thought I would be telling this story.. it took me a long time to decide to even have surgery... until my surgery I had never been in the hospital except to deliver my 3 sons.. much less be put to sleep which was my biggest fear... Ha...I feel so silly now.. I never even had a chance to count backwards!!! I was out like a light!! Well.. now on with how I decided.. I have been overweight for a very long time.. I always battled with 20 lbs or so in high school and college.. but I stayed active and that helped... however, after getting married and having my 1st son, my second year of marriage.. it all went down hill or up the scales from there....you don't realize what you are doing.. well at least I didn't ... I didn't see myself as fat.. I saw me..just me... I know that sounds weird but it is the truth... after 31 years of marriage... I am more in love with my husband that the first time I saw him.. I am always happy, I am the peacekeeper... and I go with the flow most of the time.. but the times I did notice I had let things get out of hand was when I wanted to go to a Braves Game or any sports for that matter and wondered if I could fit in the seat... I definitely can't go on rides at a carnival or Six Flags..which I love roller coasters... or sit down in the floor with my grandchildren and play... at 51 I should be having the time of my life but I couldn't...so after research for over a year.. I was on-line one day and found the West Ga. Bariatrics... Wes Turton..I looked twice and thought to myself.. I know this person... Dr. Turton and I grew up in the same small town and I actually went to school with his sisters... that was my sign!! It was time to do something... so I went to a seminar Dr. Turton was having ...and 4 months later here I am.. my gastric sleeve surgery was on April 9th, 2012 and I am 32 lbs lighter as of 4/22.. I have not weighed again.. wanting to wait for 2 weeks this time.. Dr. Turton was Awesome!!! His staff are so nice and sweet... and West Georgia Medical is the absolute best.. they have the best staff for Bariatric patients.. they are encouraging and handle you with love and care...so here I am ... I had been looking for a site to read about other peoples experience and hopefully tell my story to help others... terri
