  1. Hi, My name is Christopher and I live and work in London, UK. I had a lap band fitted in February of this year and have to date lost about 100lbs. I am visiting New York in September this year and would love to meet up with fellow lapbanders in NY and if there are any support groups would also love to attend. Any information or contact from NY lapbanders would be most appreciated.

    My introduction

Hi all, My name is Christopher, I live and work in London, UK and was banded on 21st February 2007. My weight on the day of banding (which was my highest ever weight) was 445lbs, now almost 6 months later I have lost 94lbs and so weigh 351lbs. Having my band fitted was the single best thing I have ever done. My life feels like it is just beginning and I feel fitter than I ever have or ever thought I would. I go to the gym between 3 and 5 times a week and love exercise. I am a Registered Nurse by professional background but currently work in a mixed job, half of my time is spent working on my ward caring for terminally ill patients, the other half managing a project looking at service improvement within my organisation. I turn 25 in September and really feel that life is great and that I have a lot to look forward to. Don't get me wrong, I have never had great doubts in life being great and never had depressive tendencies but I just enjoy it all so much more now. I came accross this site through a friend on a similar site in the UK and thought it would be great to get/give support from people further afield than the UK. I have travelled quite extensively to the US in my childhood and early teens but have not been for about 6 years. I am travelling to New York in September of this year and am really looking forward to it, not least because it is the first time I will have flown since my op and I hope the flight will be much more comfortable, between now and flying I aim to lose another 20lb or so. It would be great to hear from other bandsters in the US (and indeed anywhere else in the world) and I am looking forward to spending more time on this site, both reading and posting. Chris.

Any other London bansters out there?

Tracy, i know what you mean about being a stress head. I am only 1 week post banding and am convinced that i have band slippage and that my port has flipped. I have no evidence to prove and disprove these theories just my being an eternal pesimist, i'm sure i'll be convinced of band errosion in a few months too. When i care around in recovery i have a terrible urge to vomit and so retched a couple of times (which quickly resolved when i have an anti-sickness injection) but since i had been convinced that this has done some damage, only half an hour after placement of my beloved and long awaited band.

Any other London bansters out there?

Hi all, i'm a London Bandster (banded last Wednesday 21/02/2007). I mainly use the UK based site WLSINFO but am glad i have come accross this site. I am hoping to make contact with Bandsters in the USA. I used to travel the the US alot as a kid and am making a return trip to NYC this Sept and plan to start visiting regularly again so would love to make contacts and friends out there.
