  1. Has anyone tried out the Bariatric Advantage shakes? My NUT was very specific with me that they wanted me to either use unjury or Bariatric Advantage because of the amino acids contained in the product and the quality of ingredients. Personally, I was skeptical because I found several others that I thought would have been suitable (and cheaper!) but in the end I gave in and ordered the BA shakes. I'm starting my liquid diet on Weds May 30th with surgery Weds June 13th. I find it so odd at the difference doctors say not only in the types of shakes, but in what we can have daily in our pre-op mode. I'm only allowed 2 shakes a day, and have to fill the rest with light yogurt, SF applesauce, SF pudding, SF popsicles and as many no calorie beverages that I want. I can't drink any juice because it's not sugar free. I'm nervous about starting (more worried about being hungry) but I'm also anxious to get started and get on the losers bench!

Me In A Bikini... Say It Isn't So!

I'm not sure which is more awesome - that you are in a bikini or that inside you is the confidence to show the world you're in a bikini and not be embarrassed. Woohoo, go go go girl !!!! I can't wait to be in your bikini styled shoes one day and see my own confidence shine too!!

  4. Any time I start to wonder if I'm taking the easy way out, I remind myself that it's not - it's the only way out, especially after trying WW, South Beach, Atkins, etc etc etc.

    Scared Of Operation

I'm soooo in this same boat too. That's the biggest reason I've tried talking myself out of it, but I'm not going to let it deter me! I had a surgery where I woke up in the middle (yeah, that was fun) so I'm extra, extra hyper about it but I plan to make sure to talk to my anesthesia person and let them know that. You'll be just fine, good luck !!

    Surgery Failed Today!

I would be bummed out too - it's a big thing to work yourself up for. That's my biggest fear too!

    I'll show you mine... (LBD's)

I think this thread might just be my favorite of all time. As I'm flipping through all the awesome photos, I realized I had never, ever, ever, never owned a LBD (too heavy all my life of course). It just hit me that I'm going to finally get to a LBD thanks to this surgery and make that dress look good. It made me a happy little weepy

  10. Greetings world! Long time lurker, first time poster - go me. I figured it was time to get in on in and do the support thing early to prepare, so here I am! I got the call about an hour ago that I officially, really, truly, no-foolin, have a real surgery date. I'm going in on June 13th with Dr. Hart (Atlanta Bariatric Center / Emory Hospital Johns Creek). I was originally going to go band back in January but backed out of it to give it more thought (a lot more thought) and landed on the idea the sleeve would be better for me. And now, here we go. Whew ... yikes ... what have I got myself into?! I'm scared, nervous, excited, thrilled, and a little nauseous at what I've got myself into and I know I have to get my big girl undies on and face it head on but wow, now that I have a date I'm a bit scared of having a real date. With real people. With real people who really are going to cut into me. Yeah, I'm tripped a bit, but very excited. I think what I'm most scared of (other than the whole notion of being put under), is that I can't for the life of me visualize success. Is that weird? I don't know. I can't picture myself thinner - I can't picture myself doing athletic type activities - I can't picture myself literally as a smaller person, but I know it's going to happen. I start my 2 week liquid diet on Friday (joy, just in time to miss Memorial Day bbq.) Does it count as a liquid if I drink a bottle of bbq sauce?
  11. If we have a CPAP machine, do we need to bring that to the hospital?

    Omg

I can't wait until I can walk in a place (any place!) that has public seating (doctor's office, restaurant, movie theater, concert arena ... you get the idea) and not have the thought run through my head "I hope they have a seat that I can fit into and not look ridiculous".
