Before And After I Hope It Worked
skane10 replied to gatacous's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow! As I struggle to get Fluid in and my weight stalls and creeps, I wonder if I'm going to be able to lose it all. I've lost 35 on my own before then failed. You give me inspiration. Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Alex you are lucky. I'm on mushy soft and I can only eat 1/2 cup at the most. Usually 1/4 cup. -
Let me know. This is all very interesting.

Elindoll I'm glad you went to the ER. I have had the ear issue as well I can hear myself talking to people but I feel like my head is under water. I just attributed it to pollens and cotton trees since I live near Denver. Perhaps I need to focus on more water. It is something I struggle with.

OMG! 24 since the 27th? Does that include your pre-op loss? -
Cooked today so I have the ricotta bake and the avocado devils to take to work. Yummy! Think I will take some cheese to work to nuke in the microwave to make some cheese crisps. Totally a low carb, high protein day.

Webchickadee well said. I had reflux before surgery but it went away a I lost during the pre op phase. Then it came back with a vengeance after surgery... Usually at night. Prilosec clears it right up.

Need Advice Im 21 Yrs Old And Im 3 Weeks Post-Op And Im Getting Tired That I Can't Have At Least One Bite Of Foods I Love.
skane10 replied to Karen2012's topic in Food and Nutrition
Karen I'm kind of like you. When I was younger I could eat huge orations like a man. Fter 35 I gained 90 lbs eating like that. I had surgery on 6/25. My head still craves some things but I'm on mushies and losing really slow. My sleeve restricts me to about 1/4 cup. If I eat 1/2 cup I feel too full. I know by this time next year I will be able to eat very small amounts of some things I like. If you are on soft /mushies you can get taco bell's pintos and cheese and add a little sour cream. Hang in there, you will get to your goal slowly and you will be thankful you did this. Take care ???? -

Forgive my spelling. 1/4 cup is all I can tolerate. -
June Sleevers! Hows It Going?

I am a slow loser too. I lost 10 on the prevop liquid diet for a week. I have only lost 12 pounds since surgery on 6/25. I went 8 day with no loss at first. Then lost 4 in two days and now have not lost in 3 day again. Some day I have a hard time getting my water in but am getting my protein in the form of cheese, cottage cheese and protein shakes. I'm convinced my body is rebelling because I average about 500 calories on a good day. Is anyone still having problems with swallowing? I get a lump feeling down my esophagus with soft foods as well as liquids. I literally have to stop what I'm eating or drinking to wait for the feeling to go away. I'm also discovering my sleeve doesnt like 1/2 cup. 1/4 cupboard about all I can tolerate. -
I looked up Shelly's ricotta bake on my fitness pal and it said 128 cal for 1/2 cup using no. Fat ricotta. I used skim ricotta.

OMG so yummy. Nobody in my family likes avocado so more for me.

Any June 25Th Sleevers?
skane10 replied to Looking Ahead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Daniel I'm sorry you are going through so much trouble. I had that feeling in my throat when I took too big a bite or ate too fast. I actually get hungry a bit and have to reel myself in to eat slow and small. There is always a little fear that my tummy will feel too full or I will have problems swallowing. After I thee up the first time I threw up I realized I really needed to listen to my body. I don't know how else to support you other than take it way and listen to your body. We are all in this new journey together. -
I am looking for the best carb level that promotes optimum weight loss. I know we should be aiming for at least 70 grams of protein. Anybody with success please let me know.

Thank you Dooter. I checked my Fitness Pal and I was at 38 percent today. Looks like the refried bean have a considerable amount of carbs.

Mexico Surgeon - Us Drugs To Take With You
skane10 replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May sound crazy but take your own Tylenok and Tampax if you may need them. I stayed at the Marriott in TJ. I had a horrible headache and went to the Marriott's "store". They charge for Tylenol and Tampax by the pill and pad. Crazy huh? -
6 Months Out, 125 Pounds Down -
skane10 replied to Mr_Worm's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Mr_Worm, I see that low carb is the way that leads to weight loss as well as lean protein. I cannot find info on the VSG site about how low our carbs should be. Do you have any suggestions that led to your success? -
I loved reading everyone's story about their experiences. It has helped me through my slump of a stall for 5 days
-
Dorrie how long since you have been sleeved?
-
It is interesting with the different diet stages with different doctors. I had my surgery in Mexico and the diet I was advised follows the Vanderbilt sleeve diet. I had a week of clears, a week of full liquids and now a week to three weeks of soft foods such as blended meats/moist, soups, oatmeal and grits or cream of wheat, scrambled or soft eggs and yogurt. I tried my first soft food of Greek yogurt and refriwd beans with a little cheese puréed together. Yummmm! My sleeve tolerated it well.

Wow! Seems today I can get a mouthful of liquids down instead of sipping. After almost 3 weeks of various fluids, I'm trying some puréed Beans today can't wait until Monday which is my third week. I'm learning what too much canned Soup does to my body (water retention). I think I will follow your lead and take up weight lifting. You are an inspiration. -
