Lowcarb High Protein Pre-Op Diet :-/

Thanks for the information. When did you start your Pre-Op diet? 2 weeks before surgery? What are some other tips you can give for Pre-Op/Post-Op survival? I'm really concerned bc I'm having my cycle and having all sorts of cravings. I'm having single incision surgery which really requires a small liver. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Scared Of Operation

I plan to get a stress ball (to use often) and start a new hobby. I use to make time for myself to read novels but lately I haven't made the time. Following surgery, I plan to read a few novels, which I'm purchasing now. I've also started a book club, which starts 3 weeks following my surgery to keep busy. I'm also looking for another good stress relieving hobby to conquer during the first two weeks post- surgery. I pray that my stress relievers help to conquer my horrible eating habits. I was a Drummer and plan to pick back up a month or so after surgery. Drumming is a good workout and and awesome stress reliever. We all have something we a good at, which is our gift from God. I think that we allow life to get ahead of us and forget to do the things that make us happy. Reignite or find your gift and watch the stress melt away! May God Bless You!
  3. That is AWESOME! Good job! Thanks for sharing your story. I have something wonderful to look forward to. I'm sure you'll make your goal and some.
  4. How long has it been since you've had the sleeve? How much have you lost? My surgery is scheduled for June 7, 2012.
  5. You go girl!! That's all they need to know. I hope you post a video of you in a Zumba class next week. LOL!! Get all the witnesses and support that you need from the gym, trainer and/or a boot camp. People will not question hard work and discipline. WLS is a very wonderful thing and it saves lives. However, you can tell people on a need to know bases and everybody doesn't need to know.
  6. Ironically enough, if we do the exercise and workout that's required you will lose weight. People cut back on their diets, workout and exercise and lose weight everyday. We just need help with our diets. So, I don't worry about people being shocked at my weight loss. What I do worry about are all the negative and sly remarks I may receive from friends and family. I've witnessed so many people being verbally abused for choosing to save their lives with WLS. I'm trying to get my life back and I don't want to be stressed about all the negative comments being made. These are all the people who made all the fat remarks about me recently, my close family members. Everybody's situation is different so we have to do what's best for us. You see, obesity often times causes depression so, WLS will help. However, being riddiculed and talked about by your family and friends can make those feeling return. So friend, I choose to be completely happy with my WLS without giving anyone else ammunition to make me second guess my decision, feeling bad about myself. Some women are cruel and I guarantee you each one of my 5 sisters with take a jab at me as they have done previously. Instead, I'm going to exercise all the time, invite them on walks/run with me and dance my fat away. All of them can continue to look and guess all they want and it would all just be speculation. Why is it their business anyway? They wouldn't care if I had my hemroids removed and a pap smear. LOL! I say do what's best for you but I choose to confide in my husband, doctor and best friend. God Bless!
  7. I wouldn't tell anyone outside of my emergency contact. I've read so many horror stories and stories of betrayal from people. If you want to feel good about your choices without the guilt, don't tell. Seeing your step mom at choir rehearsal every week is good. She can witness you melting away. Just walk or exercise before choir rehearsal, invite her, wear her out and she will naturally witness your weight loss journey. You will be fine, just tell us and don't feel obligated to tell anyone else. Some or most woman will be a little messy, especially in the church. It's a need to know situation and who NEEDS to know?? I've only told my husband and I refuse to tell anyone else. I'm only telling him because he is my next of kind and emergency contact. I naturally want to share with my girlfriends but, I know we can't hold secrets like this.... I have 5 sisters and I've yet to me a woman who wouldn't tell. God Bless You!
