So What Was Next For You??

I found out about the Pre-op liquid diet about 9 days before my surgery, diet was for 7 days. It's a liquid diet so there is not any solids in your stomach so it will be smaller when they do the surgery. I've heard of people losing about 5 pounds or so during this week, which will help your surgery and recovery go smoother. Good luck with your surgery! Keep us posted and let us know if you have any other questions!
  2. Congratulations! I can't give you a specific time frame, but it shouldn't take too long! It really just depends on how fast your doctor's office gets the paperwork submitted and reviewed. I think it took me a week, it didn't take that long for my mom, but a little longer for my friend. I'd check back with your doctor's office in a few days "just to see if they needed anything else for the insurance company." Good luck!

Does Everyone Still Take All Thier Vitamins?

4.5 months out. I take Bariatric Advantage Vitaband, Bariatric Advantage Calcium lozenges (3x daily), Biotin lozenges from Natures Way, liquid fish oil. I also add Macro Greens or Miracle Reds (Superfoods) to my morning protein shake. You might should ask your nutritionist if you're taking enough/too many vitamins. Many insurances allow you to go to a nutritionist several times a year for no charge.
  4. Great job! I've lost 42 pounds in 4.5 months. I've hit a plateau several times. I track everything I eat on myfitnesspal.com, workout 5-6 days a week, and make sure I take my multi and calcium. It'll pick back up soon! Good luck!

What Would You Wear If You Lose Weight?

I'm hoping to get into a bikini! I haven't wore one in about 17 years! Heels would be good too!

    It's Right Around The Corner......

Sounds like you're doing great so far! This has been the best thing I've ever done! Just make sure you have enough stuff to get you through your liquid phase and a good heating pad in case you have any shoulder pain. Good Luck!!

    Hair Loss

I don't (think I) have thinning hair, but have always seemed to lose a lot, especially at my 3 month mark (I'm at 4.5 months). I spoke to my nutritionist about taking Biotin and she said that would be okay. Ask your surgeon or nutritionist if that would be good as well. Also, make sure you're taking your multi-vitamin and anything else they may have recommended you take. Good luck!

    Shoulder Pain

I used the heating pad, gas-x, and walked as well. Seemed to have been gone by the 8th day for me. Hope yours ends sooner! It will get better!

    Introductions? Yes Please

Hi! I had my surgery 4/12/12. I've poked around Lapbandtalk for a while, but I just joined the group. I had my first fill last week and would love to hear how everyone is doing now that we are 2-4 months out. Everything has been going pretty good here. Found a local support group, started tracking my meals on myfitnesspal.com, and joined a local gym where I love doing group exercise! I've lost 33 pounds so far and the road hasn't been perfect, but I am so glad I did this!

I Need My School Year Structure!

I started using myfitnesspal.com. I really didn't want to track what I ate, but when the nutritionist suggested it, I thought I would give it a try. I'm glad I did because I had been on a plateau when I went for my first fill and I was able to tell the nurse what I had been eating. She told me I was eating way too many carbs. So, between having my first fill and trying to lower my carbs, I have finally been able to get off that plateau. Yay!

    Made It Through Surgery Today

Congratulations on your surgery! Just wanted to drop a note also to say my doctor recommended using Gas-X strips for the gas pain as well as the walking. And the heating pad worked well too. The gas pains were gone by the 8th day for me, but hopefully sooner for you!

    Need Local Support Group

I did a search within this site and saw there were people here from OK, but not sure where. You could try calling your local hospital and see if they offer one there or close by. I am about 45 minutes north of my surgeon and was able to find a group about 10 minutes from home, at my gym, which is part of our local hospital. Good luck! If you can't find one, we're always here for ya!
