No catheter for me thank goodness as I would not have been happy. -
Pain Where The Port Is, Not In The Incision Area
blpchick replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah the 1st month my port was crazy sore. I am 3 months out now and it still hurts sometimes. -
Like the others immediately following surgery I was told no pills unless crushed. My surgeon gave me liquid lortab for pain. But now 3 months post op I am taking small pills.
-
I did not use that doctor as I'm in Oklahoma but I did have the lap band with plication about 3 months ago and have been very pleased so far.

Yes gallbladder pain is awful. Ever since I had my gallbladder attack on Monday my band has felt much tighter. I only have .5cc in my band but it's felt like there is a lot more than that. I've had to go to a liquid diet cause even that barely goes through. I called my lap band surgeon and he said its possible the attack cause some reflux which made the tissue inside the band to swell and get tighter.

I am almost 3 months post op and have never had any gall bladder problems until this month and I have to get mine taken out now :-( . I have read that rapid weight loss can cause problems. When I told my lap band surgeon that I have to get my gallbladder out he wasnt at all surprised.

Please help I woke up with severe pain in my lower chest area like in the middle and I'm wondering of it has anything to do with the band? I haven't eaten in maybe 6 hours. The pain I can feel it go through and even hurt in my back. I have ha something like this once before. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I went to the ER the first time this happened a few weeks ago and they said it wasn't my heart. So now I'm lying in bed wondering what to do.
-
So I saw my pcp today and she says I need my gallbladder out and that was the cause of the pain.
-
Thank you everyone for the replies...it is still hurting today it's not severe pain it's more moderate. I called and talk to my regular doctors nurse and she is supposed to call me back hopefully soon. I guess I should have added some details I was banded on may 24th 2012 and I only have .5cc in my band yes that's .5cc not 5. I am also wondering if it could be a slip? But since I have hardly anything in my band I'm wondering of a slip is even really possible.

I was extremely nauseous afterwards as well and even vomited on day 2. Day 4 was when I started feeling better. I took zofran but it did little for me. Due to not getting up and moving around enough I ended up with a clot in my leg so definitely make sure you move and walk.

Does Anyone Know What My Pre Op Steps Will Be As A Self Pay??
blpchick replied to moneil131's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was self pay and all I did was seminar, 1st appt, then nutritionist for about an hour, and the preop bloodwork and that's it. No psychologist for me. -
I had to take those because I developed a blood clot and I didn't break out like that but they made my stomach itchy.
-
Yes I have been banded. Got banded on May 24, 2012

I think most people are required to go to a seminar. I know I did. There was maybe 15 ppl at mine and the doctor just talked about the procedure and what it involves.

Changes After Losing 50 Pounds?!
blpchick replied to guitar4life3000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I have gone from a 4x to a 2x so far, fit into movie theatre seats better, people who know what I used to look like saying "hey skinny!" -
I have health choice and unfortunately they would not pay for the surgery so I had to pay for it myself. I had my surgery done at lab band center of Oklahoma and have been extremely pleased so far. :-)

I like the extreme makeover weight loss edition video. There is 3 different sessions for different levels of excercises. The 1st level is easy and the 3rd level is the hardest. I'm on level 2 at the moment.

My doctor says that Advil is ok but that really depends on the doctor.
-
My doctor did not use lidocaine and I didn't need it. I didn't even really feel it. He used a very small needle.
-
I didn't have an option my doctor only does lap band. I'm very pleased with mine. I have heard some people with the realize band mention that the realize band is more forgiving with foods.

Anyone Have Gastric Plication Done After You Already Had A Lap Band?
blpchick replied to slbedgood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow if you are allowed 1500 calories then you can have way more than me I was told to stick around 800 a day. I did have the plication done and I do think it made a difference I only have .5cc in my band and my doctor doesnt see a need to add anymore right now because I'm losing so well and I stay full for a few hours. -
Post Operation Menus? I Need Help!
blpchick replied to MarySnov's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like to buy turkey meatballs. I get them at walmart or target but I'm sure other places have them. I eat them plane and just cut them up into small pieces. I also found turkey sausage patties that I eat for breakfast. Taste just like regular sausage to me but it's healthier and turkey. -
Take a small pillow or something to put between you and the seat belt. Will keep seat belt from being so painful on incisions.
