    Depressed, I Need Your Support

Journaling has helped me... Whenever something is bothering me, I just start writing. Doesn't matter what I write and often times I shred it... It's just the process to get the thoughts out of my head that seems to help. I need to do it more often! Take care of yourself!
  2. Hang in there... Like others have said, you are still early in the process. I never had buyers remorse or the wtf have I done feeling but I definitely had my moments. Every time I doubted myself or my decision, I look at all the times I lost and regained ( usually plus some ) and all the time wasted. This time it is different. The first 6 weeks were tough but now I feel pretty normal, it's just that food is not constantly an issue. I'm more active and feel more in control. Just get thru the next month... And see where that leads you, I think you'll be pleased. It will never be the same but it can be better!

    Pills!?

Check with your doctor... I was struggling too and they told me to put it in a small spoonful of applesauce even though I was on liquids only at the time. It helped alot.

    Isopure Rtd

I never drank them straight but I mixed them 1/2 & 1/2 with Gatorade G2. I like the Icy Orange mixed with Orange G2 and the Passion Fruit mixed with Fruit Punch G2. BTW... Both Vitamin Shoppe and GNC sell them individually in their refridgerated section so you can try them.

    June Sleever's - July

Great idea Amy! I'm 3.5 weeks out and in the purée stage. Everything is going well... Building up my time on the treadmill, getting my fluids & Proteins in. I can't wait to be able to be back to regular foods so I can get back to a more social routine... I've avoided a few larger events when I was on liquids... Plus I still get tired at times. It's not constant but it does sneak up on me and I just have to take a nap. Hopefully exercise will help build my stamina back up. P.S. love your blog!

    Sharp/stabbing Pain In Side

I would get it checked out, I had a pain similar to that and it ended up being pneumonia. Better to be safe than sorry.

    How Soon?

I asked my doctor about water aerobics and he told me no because its too much of an ab workout... He advised me to wait 6 weeks. However, I believe I'm allowed in the pool to float around after incisions are healed up at around 3 weeks.
  9. I had my surgery June 12th so I'm 2 weeks post-op tomorrow. All has been well. I had some post-op pain around my incisions and some head hunger one night this past weekend but other than that I have been getting a little better every day! If you have any specific questions, please let me know.
  10. My instructions from my doctor say that carbonated beverages are allowed after 3 months but like Mina said, I will save those for an occasional beer or gin & tonic on special occasions. I don't want to ever return to drinking soda on a regular basis as it is so hard to give up.

    Gall Bladder?

My surgery was 6/12 and I had the works done... Hiatal hernia repaired, gallbladder removed and VSG with no problems. I had a prior ultrasound of my lower abdomen that showed gallstones, due to the increased risk us post-opers have of developing gallstone problems, my surgeon recommended that it be removed at the same time... I was all for it after I heard about what gallstone attacks can be like... Also, would rather not have to have a second surgery/recovery period. So far, I haven't noticed any difference in my post op recovery versus other's recovery without the removal. I do have a few extra small incisions and my bigger incision is on the right side instead of the left.

    Soup Saved The Day

That sound delicious! I might have to try it!
  13. @Mina - ask your doctor for Prilosec in capsule form... I just open the capsule into a spoonful of liquid and swallow it down.

    Unjury...yay Or Nay?

I'm 4 days post op today and am having some unjury chicken added to my cream of chicken soup. 1/2 pkt has 11 g protein so it boosts it up quite a bit. I think it tastes pretty good. I agree with the others that the sweet protein supplements get old... I start to crave something savory. I have samples of the unflavored too but haven't tried it yet.
  15. Hi Robin, I sent you a friend request. Please add me to the June group, Thanks for setting this up! Grace
  16. Thanks All! Your support and responses make me feel so much better about it. I'll let you know how it goes next week. Another benefit is its one less pill I'll have to take post-op. Thanks again, Grace
  17. Hi All, During my pre-op testing, I had mentioned to my PA that I had pnemonia 1 1/2 years ago and during the analysis, they had done an ultrasound of my lower right abdomen. They noted that I had gallstones. Even though I have had no symptoms, my surgeon is recommending that I have the gallbladder removed as part of my sleeve surgery. I am thinking that this is a better idea than possibly having a second surgery to remove my gallbladder but because this has come up at the last minute (my surgery is Tues), I'm a little worried about what it means. I have an appointment with my PCP on Friday but I'm wondering what the risks are vs the benefits and wondering how it will affect my recovery. Any suggestions or advice from others that had a similar situation?
  18. I am scheduled for Tues, June 12th! I don't have any pre-op requirements until Monday when I have to do 3 bottles of magnesium citrate, then nothing after midnight.
  19. Hi Van, That's what I am thinking as well... Just a little nervous because it came up at the last minute. Is your surgery already scheduled? Thanks for replying!
  20. Hi All, I'm scheduled for June 12th!

    And So It Begins...

Hi Amy, I'm having the same feelings. I have my pre-admission testing/education class next week and surgery just over 2 weeks later. I go from being excited & feeling like I can't wait to omg what am I doing. I've just been trying to take it day by day and like you hanging out here absorbing all I can in the mean time. We'll get thru this together!
