  1. I've heard the unjury unflavored mixes with flavored water and soup and is undetectable. I'm thinking I might have to try that. I have heard that the unjury chicken soup is kinda salty.
  2. I am pre-op (2/14/13) and this is what is freaking me out. Are you able to keep protein shakes down? I have heard of Unjury unflavored protein powder that is virtually undetectable in even flavored water. I would rather be in pain than throw up. My biggest fear is that I can't keep fluids down. I have had other surgeries where I have gone for days on fluids only and been fine. Do you think it's the pureed stuff?

    Regretting my choice

I am pre-op and keep seeing how people stall, etc. I am not the most patient person, and I am sure you will all hear from me in the next few months. Just sayin... Please let us know how you are.
  4. I am so sorry to hear that. How are you now?

    Women and Hormones...

I was going to have the sleeve, until I got tired of fighting with my insurance company. Great, puberty all over again and going into menopause. Lovely, just lovely. Oh well, I am sure it will all settle down at some point. I just hope I don't turn into a crabby wife and mom. Maybe they should include a stay at some remote area with people to wait on us hand and foot. Whata concept!
  6. What kind of shakes are you using. The only ones I have found that I like are the Premier at Costco. I can't stand that chemical taste. I gave up carbonation 2 years ago- I used to drink a 12-pak of Diet Coke per day... I can't ever touch that again!!! Pickles, I love pickles....
  7. I have chronic post-nasal drip- sexy huh! I have found if I sleep with my head elevated, I don't have as many problems, unless my allergies are super bad. You might want to try one of those wedge things. Also, I use a netti-pot and wash that out when it's bad. Kinda hard to get used to but it helps a great deal.

    Pre-op weight loss

I'm starting my pre-op tomorrow. Mostly liquid with a high protein snack and small high protein meal. I can still drink coffee ( I only drink it in the morning), and tons of water. Good Luck! When is your surgery?
  9. I can have coffee. Can you? It's going to be hard to say good bye to such a long time habit post-op. Best of luck on the 11th!
  10. So you only had a 3 day pre-op? It varies so much from surgeon to surgeon!

    Fabulous February!

Starting 2 week pre-op tomorrow! Seeing Dr. on Friday for pre-surgery visit. Geez, this is going faster than I thought! So excited.

    Women and Hormones...

I've also heard about the smells. That is what freaks me out the most. I don't want to be smelly. The bad breath, I can deal with.

    Chia seeds

I've started using them in my yogurt, and they really curb the appetite. I think these will be a lifesaver for my liquid pre-op starting next week!
  14. I get that with certain medications. Especially codeine.

    Oh, My Achin Tailbone

I am pre-op going in on Valentine's Day. On December 18th, I herniated a disc in my lower back. I can sit to save my life. I am in physical therapy, but sleeping on my side is the only comfortable position I can find, or standing. I tried seeing my chiropractor, but it didn't help. There is a pillow that is made of memory foam with a hold to take off the pressure. That seems to be tolerable. But physical therapy has been the only relief I have had. I hope this goes away before the 14th. If you can try therapy, that might help- best of luck!

    PreOp liquid diet help!

We have the same date! I don't have to start my liquids until Jan 31st. I am easing my way into it, I am doing 2 shakes, a small meal and 2 greek yogurts. I haven't had a problem so far. Best of luck on Valentine's Day!

    In laws dinner today

These are great answers. I having surgery on 2/14/13, and have decided not to tell my MIL. She is one of those cranky old ladies that doesn't have anything positive to say ever. We've decided to tell her I have the flu and that alone will steer her clear of the house for at least a week... lol

    Insurance question

My insurance goes through an approval company that in the past has always been great. This time, it took about 5 days for me to go to the insurance company, then the approval company and back.

is it good news or bad news

I just went through the exact same thing with my insurance- except I wanted to have the sleeve instead. My reasons for wanting the sleeve is that it is less invasive and you can still take NSAIDS. I got tired of fighting my insurance company and my doc submitted RNY and I had it approved within days. I had to see my PCP for something unrelated and she said her personal opinion was that the RNY would be better for me anyway. She has been my doc for over 15 years and I have great faith in her decisions. I go in on Valentine's Day! Best of luck with your decision!

    a little embarrassed

I am pre-surgery, but have that problem... I have found flax does wonders, but go easy with it or plan to stay in the bathroom for the opposite effect...

    return to work

I go in 2/14 and am taking 2 weeks. I have mostly a desk job.

    Back to work- WHEN?

That is great to hear! I am also in hospitality, but most of my work is back of the house. Thanks!
  23. I have changed my surgery from VSG to RNY. I am wondering how long everyone was off work? Or, when you felt like you could have returned. And what do you do?? I am going in on Valentines Day and I have a desk job. I have taken 2 weeks.

    I Can't Wait Till....

I can't wait to- Ride horses again Ski the whole day, not just a few runs. Do Crossfit Wear cute clothes Cut my hair short again tmi- I want a bikini wax, and be able to see it... Be the hot wife and mom I know is in there somewhere! Not have any more knee surgeries because I do things I probably shouldn't at my weight. To have the gobbler (chin) gone.
  25. Good luck with your surgery! That is an interesting question. I would imagine you body will let you know! I am about the same height, and pre-pregnancy I was 130-135. I don't know if I will ever be there again because of age and extra skin. We shall see! Again, best of luck tomorrow!
