    What's Next

For me, I needed a comprehensive blood panel. I think they use it as a base for tests after surgery. Other than that, I had a pre-op appt with surgeon and anesthesia. Good Luck!
  3. I have been reading the other posts of people kinda freaking out just before surgery, and you know what??? I now get it. I have been waiting so long for this and now that I'm down to the last few days, I'm kinda freaking out! More excitement than anything. And, I am not sleeping. Geez, will Thursday hurry up and get here! Best of luck to everyone!
  4. Thinking of you today! Sending love and vibes!

    Chia seeds

I add them to my shakes, wait 15 minutes and you have a thicker shake and a ton of energy. They also help move things along, if you know what I mean.
  6. Good Luck tomorrow! I'll be right behind you! Please keep us updated.

I will have one while in the hospital, along with a catheter....yuck

    How long

I always have my head somewhat elevated. I got used to it when I had bad sinus problems and now, I can't sleep flat. I am also a side sleeper. I think you need to do what is comfortable for you!

    Another question

Great question! I am wondering the same. I am also a skier, and my doc said that I may be able to get the end of the season which would be 6 weeks post op for me. I haven't asked about riding.

    Surgery and TOM

Well, this is the first time I am glad it came! Dodged that surgery grossness.

  13. Sounds strange, but I consider them a treat. I don't like to miss treats!!

    Food relationships

I can have caffeine until surgery day. I stopped the wine at the beginning of my pre-op. I am 1 week away and have lost 9 lbs. I had 1 rough day, and a slight headache today. Other than that, it's been okay. I am so focused on the end result that I think that is why I am doing okay. And... my Doc said when I check in next Thursday, he will ask me if I have followed the diet, and when he gets in there he will know because of the size of my liver. All of my tests are great, so I think I can suffer a few more days. Good Luck everyone!

    Food relationships

Yes, I had a few food funerals. I made it, I'm 9 days away from surgery. Pre-op isn't that bad, just like any other diet that I have done time and time again, except this one will certainly end differently! Best of luck on the 20th~
  16. I had endoscopy, labs, 3 support group meetings, 3 meetings with Nut (because my surgery kept getting re-scheduled), 5 years documentation, psych eval and a meeting with a Derm because they found something in my esophagus that was weird. Going in on Valentine's Day! So excited. Worth every hoop I had to jump through!
  17. That's great to know! I ate "raw" for a few months, and experienced a great deal of success until I couldn't leave the bathroom! There are some great cookbooks. It's a lot of prep, but there are some pretty tasty foods! If you are interested in a great juicer, I have had a juiceman for almost 15 years- runs like a champ! My next purchase will be a vitamix, my friend has one and it is amazing!
  18. How soon after surgery did you start juicing? I can't stand the taste of most shakes and flavored Water, etc. I think it's the chemicals. I have purchased unflavored Protein powder and would maybe like to mix the two together. Thanks-
  19. Hello! I am wondering how long all of you were in the hospital? I am due for 2-3 days. I want to get out of there asap!
  20. I recently changed surgeries from the sleeve to RNY, because of insurance issues. I was made aware with the sleeve, there are huge hormone swings. Is it the same with RNY? Something about estrogen being released into the blood??? Any info would be great! What hormone changes should I expect?

    Women and Hormones...

Okay, there is a product, and don't laugh- called "Fresh Breasts". I had purchased "Fresh Balls" as a gag gift, and this came with it. So, I though what the hell. I tried it, and by God, it totally keeps me dry and fresh under my boobs. Just a thought...
  22. I have used Nioxin and found it really drying for my hair and scalp. There is another called Keranique (sp?) that I am going to try. I am pre-op and have very fine hair. Kinda worried about that...

    New here surgery in February

I agree. The first 3 days weren't bad, but today... I feel like strangling anyone that eats in front of me. I'm actually hoping it's pms so I can get that over with before surgery!

Putting myself on a pre-op liquid diet

I'm on day 4 of 14. I could seriously chew my arm off. But... I have lost 6 pounds. I know it's all water, but I don't really care. I think it is all to shrink your liver. Right?
  25. OMG- I am so sorry to hear that. How are you now? I would be furious.
