losing hair? not getting enough protein? dehydrated?
sleeve_sister posted a blog entry in sleeve_sister's Blog
I am a post op sleever. I had a lap band and it ulcerated requiring removal. Since getting the sleeve (5 mths ago) I have lost 95 lbs and about 10% of that was my hair (insert sarcasm here.) I was struggling to get in all my protein and fluids, ended up hospitalized for dehydration which also lead to a UTI and kidney stones. I recently found out about Zija which is a product of Moringa Oleifera. If you don't know what this is, research it please! I believe every WLS patient should be on it. It's 100% organic and unlike our typical vitamins that all of us are required to take post surgery, that have a 10 % absorption rate, Zija has a 100% absorption rate. In addition, it has every vitamin from a-z. Within a week I stopped losing my hair and within 2 weeks I stopped taking all of my meds. I only take Zija and I'm not struggling to get my protein or fluids in anymore because of all the meds I took. I was spending roughly $165 a month in just vitamins, supplements, etc and now I spend less than $100 plus I'm saving over $300 by not having to take any of my meds. I feel great and am truly living a healthy lifestyle. facebook.com/ninetynutrients or ninetynutrients.myzija.com Email before ordering as you can get it for wholesale. -
Favorite tracking app?
sleeve_sister replied to asmaclare's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I got obsessive with MyFitPal and it was too much so now I just use weight tracker to show me my stats I no longer log my intake because they aren't set for bariatric patients and I didn't find it to be very accurate where exercise is concerned either -
I'm almost 6 mths out and I've lost 95 but about two months ago I started losing a lot slower, like maybe 5 lbs a month. I started taking Zija Moringa and am losing like 4-5 a week again, I'm no longer losing my hair which is why I started taking it, I no longer am on any of my meds, and I don't have to give myself b12 injections or take vitamins, they are in moringa. I think I needed more nutrician and once I got that it put my body back on track. I was really disappointed that I wouldn't reach that 100 lb mark by 6 mths b,ut I know I'll get there. Google moringa oleifera, it's amazing! I was spending $165 on all my vitamins, supplements, etc. and now I'm spending $90 plus I've saving over $300 on the prescriptions I no longer have to take for my other health problems. If you email ninetynutrients@gmail.com or facebook.com/ninetynutrients and mention that your a bariatric patient, you can get it at wholesale

There are several options, but purchasing it through the distributor is the cheapest because you can get it at wholesale cost that way.

Un-fill Lapband before Sleeve Surgery?
sleeve_sister replied to RAAinNH's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to have my band removed prior because it was herniated and had to heal before I could get the sleeve. I gained I think like 20 plus lbs, but the food was grrreat. -
I have been horrible at eating at least 3 times a day. I had an egg for breakfast and my moringa drink today. I am cooking dinner though...pesto chicken with goat cheese and sundried tomatoes...yum my fav Have a good day ya'll!

I started losing mine about 4 mths post op...heres a post i posted yesterday...hope it helps...good luck Hi all. I was sleeved in October. I am very pleased with my 90 lb weightloss. However, I have been losing sooooo much hair. So, I did hours, days, and weeks of research. I ended up ordering a product called moringa a few weeks ago. It is 100% organic, it is a tree grown so many miles from the equator, has 92 nutrients, 4x Calcium in milk, 3x potassium in bananas, 2x Protein in yogurt, 4x Vitamin a in carrots, and 7x Vitamin C in oranges. I have been taking this for 2 weeks, am no longer losing hair and have gotten off all my meds except 1 (synthroid, i dont have a thyroid) and that's out of 15! It's comes in a packet that you mix with 8-20 oz of Water and, coming from a picky person, its tasty. It's been used in 3rd world countries that are fighting malnourishment and has been very successful. I did lots of research and ended up with zija moringa. It's a little pricey, but it was the best I found with the best bang for your buck. The one I take is called supermix and I believe is double the nutrients. Anyway, I wanted to let ya'll know because I think it's something all of us sleevers should take to replace the important nutrients we lose when we have the surgery. The website is ninetynutrients.myzija.com and their FB page is ninetynutrients. There is a lot if info in the FB page too.

I use Zija Moringa Supermix instead of taking Vitamins, calcium, and b12. It's all natural and as far as calcium goes it's has 4 times (gram for gram) the amount of calcium that's in milk. It's also has many other benefits, like I stopped losing my hair just 2 wks after starting it and I'm only on 1 out of 15 medications (most were for anti-flammatory reasons, ie, asthma, fibromyalgia, planar fasiitis, and more) since starting it. It's awesome. I highly recommend it. ninetynutrients.myzija.com FB page is ninetynutrients Good luck all!

Recommendation for vitamins and protein supplements
sleeve_sister replied to sleeve_sister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has, I believe don't quote me, but I think it's 4 times the protein in milk and yogurt. Protein loss contributes to hair loss. -

HW 273 SW 257 CW 187 Due to my planar fasiitis, I still have not begun a rigorous exercise regimen, but I am happy with my loss to date. My BMI has gone from 57.1 to 37.8. I am off 12 of my 15 meds that I was on at surgery. I am thrilled with my sleeve!

1 package fat free cream cheese 1 package taco seasoning 1 can chicken breast 1 can rotella 1 can drained chili Beans Great crockpot meal with lots of Protein and freezes great too! Enjoy!

I have been making this for years even pre WL surgeries and even though none of us like meatloaf, this is my hubby and kids favorite meal: 1lb of ground turkey 2 cups Stovetop herb stuffing 2 cups 2% Velvetta (cubed) 1/2 cup Classico Sundried Tomato Pesto Mix first three ingredients together, place in meatloaf pan, top meatloaf with last ingredient, cover, and bake for 45 mins-1 hour on 425 degrees. Enjoy!
-
Oh and the portion that I make is two servings for myself.
-
I'm not sure of all of the nutritional info. The stuffing has 110 calories, 1g fat, 21g carbs, and 3g protein per serving. For myself, I use about an 1 1/2 oz of ground turkey, 2 tbsp of stuffing, 3 cubes of 2% velvetta, and 1 tbsp of sundried tomatoes. It's probably 1/3 of the serving size on the box.

I just made this and it tastes JUST like Olive Garden's fattening version. 1/3 cup Italian Blend Shredded cheese Part Skim (I used the Wal Mart brand) 1 tbsp Plain ff Greek Yogurt 1 tbsp ff Sour Cream 1 tsp ground thyme Mix, place in ceramic bowl, and broil. Enjoy! I even added some chopped grilled chicken to add Protein. You can also add cayenne pepper to the mix and/or diced tomatoes to the top when finished.

still struggling to get in protein after 3 mths
sleeve_sister posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the last few days I have been logging my food into MFP and realized that I'm not even coming close to 90g of protein in a day. I'm lucky to get 30. I got protein shake samples and I can't even drink a whole one and am so full after half. Should I be concerned? I've been losing fairly quickly until the last two weeks. I gained 2 lbs and haven't lost since. -

I have bronchitis. My labs were good. My b12 was super high which I don't understand, but it is what it is. She recommended I wait 6 weeks to give myself the shot rather than 4. I have been downing Gatorade since I started getting sick, my UA was a little dark but I wasn't too dehydrated.
