  1. ETA= Wheetsin probably knows more than me so read what I said- but probably what I said about milk was wrong (about you). Can you try getting ahold of the Protein shakes without milk- they make them because some people get lactose intolerant for a little after surgery. whey protein isolate is what the shakes should have- powder or the ones in the bottles (ready to drink- RTD they call them). Also that neck pain- I had it a few times but only the first couple days. They say a heating pad can help. Good luck! It gets better. Call your doctor too- esp. if you can't drink too much. You don't want to be dehydrated.

    Gallbladder Issues

Mine was so bad the surgeon said it was STUCK to my stomach and it was all diseased and inflamed and there was evidence of a recent attack and prior pancreatitis (never knew that). I got so used to saying after meals "Oh my stomach hurts- must be my gallbladder." LIved that way for so long. I've been so proactive about health but in some ways (that) so dumb. Well, actually I also put it off knowing they'd be doing it at same time as WLS...

    Gallbladder Issues

You're going to be so glad it's out! I suffered for years with gallstones.
  4. We're good students because those are the things they DON'T stress much in class.
  5. 17/20 --very interesting test I was wrong on a couple numbers- like death rate and I wasn't sure of the leak best fix (thank goodness I didn't have to know personally).

    Yay Starting Soft Foods!

You'll be surprised at what you want after the liquid only stages and how all of a sudden tastes are wonderful that never were. And, occasionally, things you loved you can't even stand to smell.

    Yay Starting Soft Foods!

I just asked this because I was the opposite. I was able at 1 month to eat a whole piece of whole wheat toast with an egg. The answers varied. Mostly people were like you- not able to do the whole thing yet at this point. Wasn't that the most delicious thing in the world though- after all that time on liquids/purees?!
  8. Sleeved 7/16 So, I've been a good patient. I've luckily been able to get all my Protein in through food or shakes since the beginning- never had a problem tolerating any liquids. I'll get this weird blockage like lump feeling in my throat when it's time to stop as I eat slowly, chewing carefully. I was allowed to start eating soft foods today and I couldn't wait to have an egg and a slice of toast (whole wheat). They were on my "soft list" of course. I know protein first yada, yada and that's what I'll do but it was my first piece of bread in over a month (between 2 week liquid diet before and then 2 week liquid and puree) and IT WAS AMAZING!!! So now it's 5 hours later and I'm not hungry. That's another one of the reasons it's probably not a good idea to have the carbs-- but whatever, I wanted that toast and glad I finally had it. Question--- It seems like a lot to eat without ANY restriction. I swear I ate the egg and bread and had not one pain, gurgle, nothing. Are/were any of you able to eat that much at a sitting so early out? I'm not scared per se because since I'm not hungry yet I know my sleeve "works." But that quantity? I feel like people say all I could eat was 1/2 an egg at my point and have to stop... I've done homework so I will continue my good protein first etc. just wondering about your quantity. Thanks a lot!

    Warning! Angry And Discouraged

No. There is not a chance unless someone coincidentally gets a thyroid problem exactly at the same time (treatable). Impossible. I never heard of a case of anyone anywhere restricting calories and weight not coming off. You're going to do it... and it will be so appreciated after/because of your hard work.

    Warning! Angry And Discouraged

Lissa I'm literally laughing out loud over the thinking about swallowing the water bottle lid. I thought something similar today--- like an urge that made no sense. OY...I'm a teacher. I seriously hope I don't get weird thoughts while teaching...like yelling "You didn't do your homework!!! 50 sit ups now!!!!"
  11. Well I'm not up to that fabulous point...and never will be...so there! :tongue2: P.S. Quite disturbing that everyone relates. I'm keeping my hair...keeping it I tell you!! (Let the "good luck with that"s begin!)

    Warning! Angry And Discouraged

Awwww I hope you get some good answers...so sorry about all your work and not getting the pay off. I'm sure you know they say it has to happen-- but it's not now- so I'm sorry.
  13. Since we're admitting our densousity....I don't get the cat shedding thing.

    Buck up! Have some willpower!

    Easy Way Out

My friend and I were just talking about "the easy way out." 1. We know it's not easy. 2. Even if it were-- would you tell a heart patient a bypass was the easy way out? 3. It means they're jealous. Why? Because they wish they were able to take off weight so fast. So they blame because they're angry you can do it and they still have to suffer. Nice. Maybe it's human nature though. You don't know until you walk in someone else's shoes.

    Easy Way Out

Exactly. That's why I was basically thinking there's an ulterior motive for saying it. For some reason everyone else with a DISEASE is allowed to cure it- but us. Such prejudice. P.S. No one has said it to me-- I was speaking hypothetically since it's something we all heard of or thought at some point.
  17. So many relatable things. Some I hope not to (like the boobs examples).

    Easy Way Out

True dat! Good luck to you too!
  19. It doesn't feel like deprivation because you're not hungry! So hard to explain until you go through it but take it from a person who hates diet boredom- you can eat foods in moderation. Yes, you need your protein for sure! But... it's so different than you can imagine. A taste satisfies. Really.

One Month--Quantity Of Food Question About You

That does seem a little frustrating. On the other hand over time you'll probably lose a lot more than me.. I have my one month on Thurs., 2 appts.-- one with the dietician and then my surgeon. I plan talk about this and other questions- just wanted a barometer of how others do also. About snacks- all I do is still popsicles, (rarely) sf pudding, and I love just slowly licking these laughing cow 35 calorie cheeses.

One Month--Quantity Of Food Question About You

Sassy - yeah, I've seen that video-- hmmm I wonder also about how fast people heal too. I've never been sick and I do have set times but get really full for long periods...hmmm hence I should make my meals less even though I can eat more...got it. I do take my time and am measuring usually. Yesterday I had a half cup of cottage cheese and a small yogurt for breakfast and again--- easy peasy. I always have 2-35 grams of protein shakes a day and my calories are about 500-700 a day right now.

One Month--Quantity Of Food Question About You

lcox1101--I assume you're choosing not to eat it...(which is smart) but I mean, could you? I think most people say a bite of bread, pasta, etc. and they are full.

    What's Your Sign?

Sag. --nice to meet a fellow astrologer. I think we would need the whole chart for more emperical evidence however...lol... (such a sag. comment right?) I'll say 8-9 for all questions-- 9 the physical, 8 the mental. I've been very optimistic so the pain, annoyances of restrictions, shots in belly etc. have been relatively easy to handle. But, I couldn't say everything is perfect since I did have most of my stomach removed--haha-- there are obviously some problems with getting used to portions etc.. I guess if I were to compare it to what I EXPECTED- then it would be 10's.

    Where You Ever A Naysayer?

Never say never, right! 3 years ago I was 1 week before RNY --did the whole process! I cancelled the surgery. Now it's about a month since VSG and I'm so glad I listened to that (very powerful-- not some doubt) voice that said DON'T DO IT back then!! I know this was the procedure for me. I spent the next few years saying it was too drastric, I could never alter my body like that, yada yada... Guess what, if stretching my body to the size of two people isn't alteration I don't what is. So..whatever floats your boat! (Or whatever keeps you from capsizing the boat).
  25. Great point-- it's all I've worn in the house, even now. I have cotton (zip front) beach coverups and loungewear dresses. When I wear yoga or sweatpants I still get a little rubbing at my "holes."
