It has to be added to one of those.."You know you're a WLS person when..." --sugar free popsicles are your decadent treat. CO Dude those tropicals are my other favorite- with the Edy's. It's just got it all, hard, soft, liquid, mush... Never thought I'd feel this way about popsicles. -

Truthful Regrets, Anyone?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Tiff187's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was excited and happy thinking cool, no buyer's remorse, and then a week ago (5 weeks after surgery) I had an evening of crying and regret. I worried about not being able to eat to excess and choose lots of food at one meal. But the next day after shopping I made myself a platter of a tiny bit of so many delicious things I had bought from Trader Joe's--a mini meatball, some fancy dip, an amazing slice of Italian cheese and a couple other things I forget. I savored each taste slowly and enjoyed the food and then was full. Since then I've been okay knowing I can have anything. I was especially okay after my MIL gave me tons of clothes since she lost weight and they will carry me through the winter I'm sure. I also tried on all these clothes I had that I had forgotten about and was amazed they fit. The thing is, I could lose the weight but without this ability to control my portions and hunger I don't think I could keep it off. Just that I was able to run up and down the steps yesterday like I haven't done in years was amazing. My feet and ankles were fine and I wasn't out of breath. Now when I think of things I wish I could eat- it's not like the stuff I used to shovel in without thought. I will eat "fattening" foods again- but a taste and be satisfied. I've repeated this so many times because it helped me... Someone here said that having this surgery is like being at Thanksgiving after you're done and looking at table and feeling like this food was incredible but I can't eat another bite. I hope you eventually get to this...it's really freeing. -

Strange Hard Things Under My Skin....?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Dooter's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I actually tell it much better than I write it with all the gestures and falling motions. One of my goals when I lose the weight is to do stand up comedy. (Not to be confused with fall down comedy). Don't worry-- it's was hysterical and taught me why my husband makes such a big deal about "nothing on the stairs!!" I used to put laundry on the side to send up later... no more. -
Strange Hard Things Under My Skin....?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Dooter's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I actually do have a couple lipomas (fatty benign growths) under the skin. I have one on the side of my arm that you can't really see but now that the fat is coming off that's becoming visible. I had a benign thyroid nodule that I found years ago after losing weight because it was more visible on my neck. I think the only benefit to being fat is less damage if you fall down the steps- with all the padding. Had it happen- no problem. Ooh, actually that's a funny story. I was going up the steps and said "Stupid, (actually didn't say that) why don't you put your coffee cup right here in the middle of the steps so on your way down you won't forget it?" What do you know, I'm coming down the steps, forget about the cup and get my toes stuck in the cup and go sailing down. Coffee is all over the walls, steps, me, and I'm pulling my foot out of a cup. It really was funny, ..especially since I didn't break any bones because of my fat. -
Nauseous
Marty McSkinnystein replied to soontobeskinnymini's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take a PPI and was also given a prescription for 2 different nausea meds. before leaving the hospital. I filled them but didn't use them. Apparently it's so common that my place automatically prescribes for it. Wish I could give you some.. -
Congratulations on your weight loss! That's incredible! A friend told me she complimented someone on her weight loss and she found out later the woman had cancer. She said that's the last time she'll do that before knowing for sure the story. That's doesn't explain EVERYONE in your life. Unless some jealous person passed on that you don't want to call attention.... (now that would be terrible). Haha, I think I'm watching too much competition "reality t.v." with that line of thinking. Anyway, keep on shrinking...and hold your head up high!

I Wonder What Celebrities Are Sleeved?!?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to SensationallySassyT's topic in Rants & Raves
I always worked on myself and felt happy around people but at my heaviest wasn't really comfortable. I don't think she feels good at this weight. In the past when she would lose weight (prob. like most of us) she would talk about how good it was for her. So yes she's got a lot of it "together" but I still think she wants to change her weight-- based on her past behavior. -

Wine? 4 Weeks Post Op
Marty McSkinnystein replied to pattivalvo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You really shouldn't according all my instructions. BUT when you eventually do it will hit you very hard so they stay to be home or in a safe place because you will not have the usual reaction. -

My Favorite Thing About Wls...and My Least Favorite Thing. Join In!
Marty McSkinnystein replied to 7carol3's topic in Rants & Raves
Favorite- all the benefits and it not being anything as scary as thought it would be- from the initial operation pain to the new way of eating. Least favorite- and this has always been my way...I'm lazy so I don't like keeping track of things on paper- but I must make sure I do what should- Water and Protein wise. When you're not hungry you could literally forget to drink/eat for hours. -

Your doctor should have put it on your discharge stuff. For me I started a Multivitamin day home, sublingual B12 and D. At my 1 month I started Calcium daily.

Food Doesnt Go Down Very Well

It depends the food, the amount of chewing and the "water waiting." Can you give examples and how much you know already. -

But for me it's in a good way. For example, I went to Trader Joe's yesterday and bought lots of things I always loved (the Protein stuff) and dips to use sparingly- meatballs, chicken sausage, humous, wasabi mayo, all types of cheeses, salmon and made tiny platters and was so satisfied with like only 2-3 oz. of what I chose. It's like there's this freedom from hunger but what comes with it is a responsibility to be sure to nourish your body with good stuff. And everything seems so much more delicious and you're full! I literally wanted to cry after my first good egg at how satisfying it was without "needing" all the ecroutremants (sp?) like breads and meat and hashbrowns... When you get there you'll see how great it can be at the same time as being a chore. Plus I think you get used to it and have a habit of what you eat mostly- eventually. -
The Best Book I've Read About Wls Surgery
Marty McSkinnystein commented on mrscastillo's blog entry in Tiffany's WLS journey
I have it. It is good. I love the book "Before and After" also-- it has lots of recipes and the beginning tells the story of a WLS patient in her words- inspiring and good info.
