Question..has Anyone Experienced This?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Piplula's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm about 10 weeks and get dizzy sometimes. I'm sure you thought about enough hydration and consistent Vitamins? -
Throwing Up Chewble Vitamins!
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Blugirl's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Those Vitamins were the only thing that made me throw up and my surgery was July 16th. I take CVS children's chewable multi's. They're animal shaped. My PA looked at the ingredients and said they were good. I also take a sublingual B12, Calcium and D. -
Yesterday I Wrote About My Charley Horse...
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
from Friday night but the title was ambiguous so I hardly got responses. In the middle of the night I had my first charley horse in years (not since my last very low calorie diet). I did a search but I'd like some real time people because of questions I might have. That same morning I also hit the down 40 lb. mark which was awesome BUT also had the WORST constipation of my life...thought my head would explode from the headache I got. I am going to try everything to make sure that never happens again (cautionary tale people!). So I am stepping up potassium type things but I'm so upset that I want to do sooo much today my calf hurts a lot. I'm wondering about a heating pad to loosen it, or is it ice...or rest...or movement.. I hate those things that you're not sure which would work. Anyway, I just want to see how others deal. My biggest fears going into this were the cramps and constipation--- and they hit me hard! I wouldn't take this surgery back but I can't have this stuff happen regularly. Thanks in advance for input!! -

Friend Telling Me She Has A Vision I Will Die--Nice!
Marty McSkinnystein replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Someone died and hundreds lived long thin lives.... you'll be fine. She won't. (I just got a premonition she'll continue to upset people with her psychic abilities). -

Yesterday I Wrote About My Charley Horse...
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Quote: I used to get them all the time and I had bought those thermacare heat pads, like the ones for your period and I would attach it to my calf. Lol but now they have different shapes for different things. It feels amazing on that muscle! That's what I'm doing right now. I just always am afraid about the ice vs. heat and don't want to make it worse by doing the opposite. But it feels good! -
Yesterday I Wrote About My Charley Horse...
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I know this is wrong but I found an old prescription for potassium (2 left) from when I was on Optifast years ago and took a pill last night-- just in case. But I know it isn't good for the heart etc. if you already have too much. When I looked at products and how much % of daily allowance they have of pot. it's like 3% or 7 % --- so you know we're not getting that much of anything to total 100% a day-- given our Protein requirements. Thank you both-- I did notice a drop in my liquid intake lately- I'll step it up. Did you by any chance find anything helpful for the muscle pain the next day or days in my case...walk through it, massage, heating pad....any recommendations? BTW, I'm a teacher so while I do run around at school all day on my feet I'm not really exercising regularly--- yet. I feel like I don't know how I'll make it tomorrow it's so achy! -
Oh Man, What A Morning!
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good thing....I reached 40 pounds lost this morning!! Yay!! However, all I can say is, DON'T GET CONSTIPATED. Whatever you do. Figure out how to get enough Fiber, Water, etc. I had the most horrific morning-- I thought I was going to break blood vessels in my head...(sorry if TMI- but it's part of life right?) Also, how's this for a coincidence- or is it? I had a horrible charley horse in the middle of the night- and unlike previous ones long ago, it was up to my thigh (calf and thigh!! yikes). Those were my biggest fear with the surgery. I remember ANY time I had lost lots of weight -so it's not related to surgery- but fast weight loss and more Protein. Obviously I need to up pottasium I guess (for cramps), water, and stool softener. What a last few hours!! Shwew! -

Nsv- Walked Out Of My Wide Clarks..lol
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, I was never a wide until the last couple years as I gained weight. Looking forward to nice high shaft boots- although doing ballet as a child my calves are still over developed so it would be amazing to wear tall boots. We shall see. I'm grateful today. Things get better all the time! -
Ljp, my surgery was also July 16th! I actually made a thread last week "I'm walking out of my Clarks!"
-
I only became a "wide" when I gained lots of weight. I'm back to regular even though I'm still quite overweight. Also I think I even went down a half size- back to my younger years- 8 1/2 wide to 8.

Gonna Attempt Protein Shake Again...
Marty McSkinnystein replied to billyvmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please try Oh Yeah shakes. I get them from Vitamin Shoppe. They are so delicious...like a milkshake and have 32 grams of protein and only 3 sugar (3 fiber). -
Fibromyalgia; Arthritis; Nerve Pain
Marty McSkinnystein replied to mokee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a pain condition and resigned myself that I will do better with less weight (feet, heart, knees etc.) but it might not cure the pain condition. Some with fibro have less symptoms after, some don't. It can only help though in general. Diabetes, weight off- probably will cure it. -
I feel like you have to find what works for you. I've lost almost 40 at 2 months and have not exercised at all. I try to get in a lot of protein but sometimes I eat too little. Then I'll eat more carbs than protein on a certain and I'll drop a lot within a couple days of that. It varies. Try mixing things up-- more water, less protein, more calories, less calories. I think we all have something that works better for us. Your body can't hang onto the weight with a huge reduction in calories forever...it's impossible. Good luck!

Only 35Lbs Down And Able To Eat Too Much :-(
Marty McSkinnystein replied to RainyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery the day before you, lost about the same as you and I feel like it's a nice amount of weight lost. I stalled for a couple weeks, ate a little more carbs/calories and voila! the scale moved-- but that's controversial and my opinion only. If you're doing the Protein, Water and whatever else the doctor said to you you can only go down. -

Seriously Worried... Help!
Marty McSkinnystein replied to SleevedNSweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh pu..lease-- don't let those negative nellies bother you!! Everyone will think of something that you should think about. I don't know if it's thinking they have to help, wanting to show they know soooo much..but eyes on the prize and remember you have to live in your (pardon the pun) skin and you're ready to be all you can. I have yucky batwings- I call them bubby arms (like a grandmom...a very very old grandmom lol)- had them since I was a teenager even when I was a size 6 and never ever have worn a tank top. So I get it. But I'm still loving my body getting smaller. I have good genetics so I may not have too much skin but I'll do plastic surgery if it is uncomfortable or makes me feel bad about myself. -
Seriously Worried... Help!
Marty McSkinnystein replied to SleevedNSweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be happier with your body even if you do have some loose skin. I think that you do have your young age on your side though--- and relatively less weight to lose than some people who really have a lot of skin. You will find many things to worry about during the process but if you can try to relax it would be wonderful because nothing bad I worried about happened to me. Good luck- you're on your way to more happiness (and dates) than you can imagine. I use this stuff from Vitamin Shoppe for pregnant women to not get stretch marks but most say it's genetics, fast losing and the amount of pounds and length of time your skin has been stretched out that determines loose skin. But...again, nothing's worse than the weight. -
Wontons Vs Bread
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Angie was Sleeved 08/31/12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Apparently wonton wrappers are very thin (not like the thick ones used in wonton soup) and used to stuff whatever protein in and cook it. You put the little wrapped mixture in cupcake tins and make it. I went searching and found out they have them at Whole Foods near me. The website "Emily Bites" has some recipes using them. -
