This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)
Marty McSkinnystein replied to futureskinnypants's topic in The Gals' Room
I assumed the women (like me) were saying it to be funny. Of course the correct term would be more appropriate in most conversations and in teaching children. The thread is/was kind of going the way of "let's top it with this funny word for vagina." Great, funny, educational, light conversation! -

Technically I guess we could google "how much fat is in a va jay jay" and then get a study done on yours before and measure the difference. I fear I may never stop laughing. I'm just waiting for someone to tell me I'm immature because it's a serious question. And it is. But..... -

Does Eating Get Any Easier?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is probably the BEST thing I ever read as far as taking out the fear about loss of food. I will read this again and again in the next...however long it takes (I'm pre-op now). -

Healing Time- With Removal Of Gallbladder- Diff.? Or No?
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realize this would just be anecdotal but has anyone noticed a difference in what people say who have ONLY had the WLS vs. GB out same time? I was told I had a hiatal hernia too once-- but this Dr. said he didn't see one during the endoscopy last week so he said he'll look again once in. (A nurse I know said they can go in and out). Having HUGE gallstones is what started this journey for me. Anyway, thanks for any thoughts. I've asked people in the past about their GB removal and found out it's no biggie, but not combined with this. Also, I know a couple people who say after GB removal certain tastes have changed...so, hmmm, how would you know the difference whether it was from the GB or WLS? Yes, I'm a dorky over-thinker but I like exploring things. -

Ha! That's what I thought I'd hear. Thanks! You get so used to those stones causing stomach pain (and a high fat/cal. diet) after the combined surgery it would be hard to tell I guess. -

Four Days Out....and So Depressed!
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Luwanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had it yet but sit tight---help is on the way. People are awesome here. "Everyone" says they felt this way (not to minimize your pain at all). Feel better soon... I know you will!! (((hugs))) ETA: Try reading some success stories while you wait for someone who's been there to respond. -
2 Very Different Vsg Philosophies -- What's Yours?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Fyrefly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We'll see when I get closer, but I know in the past when I did Optifast I loved the idea of taking out the choices, weighing etc. You got your boxes of shakes in, weight dropped fast and that was that. I always hated points and calories and exchange diets. Of course if "you" didn't start to intro. good healthy foods toward maintenance back up the weight went. With the sleeve tool it seems more possible to get used to the new pouch while making little choices..in the beginning. For me. Probably. After that when I feel better I can't wait to embrace making new healthy choices, me COOKING- heaven forbid. So much cool stuff ahead! Oh, and for Optifast here, I went to a Dr. weekly who sent me home with boxes and did it for MONTHS at a time several times. It was 800 calories a day- well balanced although VLC so needed lots of Vitamins. I lost so much weight that way. What's good is during that time I learned recipes I'll use now with making fancy shakes with SF syrups and tons of ice in a blender. IT was quite filling even with my normal stomach. -
(Not Diagnosed As Such) Hypochondriac..lol.
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're right. It's a long time habit. Lots of my bad habits are going to change- overeating, inactivity, etc. I can work on this too! -

So...since I've always looked up everything medical on the internet and books, for fun read those little pamphlet thingies that come with prescriptions with the cell pictures and graphs (and thought I had the side effects listed) haven't rubbed my calves in years because I read once if it's a blood clot, not a muscle ache it would send it to your brain..... is this going to be harder for me? LOL.. I did this since I was a kid- just have always been a "research person." Mind you, because of my weight I may be researching MORE now than I will after the operation. Or am I going to be a lunatic every time I get a stomach ache which is really the healing process going on? I kind of answered my own questions I guess. I need to trust, breathe, read less and know that being morbidly obese leads to more things I can't "look up" than this operation can cause. Probably. I've exaggerated a little....or not, depending on your answers...hehe. -

Yeah I was just telling someone I have always filled my plate at "events" like Thanksgiving and such and NEVER ate it all. My eyes are bigger than my stomach. I just like variety. Hmmmm is this better or worse for surgery? -

Hey guys! Teacher here in PA. I go until June 19th (well, the 14th with kids). My surgery is for July 16th. I can't wait until school is over. We don't have air conditioning..I work in the city, so it's getting pretty hot and the kids are off the wall!
