    Coffee- Decaf. K-Cups?

Okay, varying answers to drinking coffee post op- my place says no way, never (only decaf.). I'm about 3 weeks from surgery and I start to wean and then do my 2 cups again (I really don't want tat horrible headache post op. so want to get it out). Decaf. gives me heartburn and since heartburn can be a problem after surgery that seems kind of crazy for me to even bother with. However, I use a Kuerig, getting my boxes delivered, and if anyone gets K-cups that don't give them heartburn can you please recommend? TIA!! Maybe the problem is I like it really bold.
  2. Thank you. I am a teacher wondering some ways to spend the 6-7 weeks after surgery. Sounds like a plan. To Target I go! I like colored flag stickies to for calling attention to certain pages in books/ binders- that could be color coded too. Ooh there could be a section at the very back that includes updated before/after pics. Wait wait! The cover could be that!! A split shot. I don't know but you def. give me ideas.

How Do I Get Off The Fence ?

From everything I read (didn't have surgery yet) you can't be the sole caretaker of the little ones right away. But just imagine, if someone can help for a little bit-- just how much better you will be for them in the long run! It took me 3 years to decide finally for sure--- I wish I hadn't wasted time. Good luck! Just thinking about it is the first step!

    *push* See you soon skinnier.
  6. Thanks for your blog. Great progress- I wish you continued success! So when you say instantly regretted it fiercely...is that a pain in chest, feeling in your throat, a nausea or vomit...what is the feeling like? I mean I guess I'll figure it out soon enough but...how do you know. I guess I won't be able to not have it happen because it's all trial and error...true?

    Water...the Musical.

Just trying to get you to open...there's no musical here. I'll sing for you later. So I love Water. We have to sip, sip, sip to get in enough and not dehydrate after. I've read about how tastes change, you can't fit it in, stomach is too small. But if I force myself to sip a teeny bit every few minutes/seconds won't it be okay? Are there people who through no fault of their own just CAN'T get enough water in? I mean, except for having...whatchacall it...where the esophagus is too swollen (stricture??) Assuming all goes well, good doc, no complications and I sip, sip, sip....is it normally fine? Also, those clear drinks with Protein like Isopure, they count toward the amount of water too, right? Obviously I'll talk to my doctor but wanted to hear your experiences. It's so hot today and I'm guzzling my water thinking...am I going to miss this feeling? Are you satisfied with those sips? Are you ever physically thirsty but just can't get it in? It's so hard to understand what it's really like after. Thanks in advance.

    Not Having A Last Supper

Spoiler Alert: If you're set off by hearing about food that's hard to eat now- don't read on!!! Well since I've known I was supposed to lose 14 lbs. and have basically put it off and now only have 30 days to do it--- I don't know how "last dinnerish" I can go. My craving: I really want the BEST steak and a baked potato w. sour cream and butter....and hard sourdough roll/bread. But my fear is ...the steak won't be perfect and I will have wasted the calories. My other fear: Does even thinking this way mean I'm not ready for the surgery? I do have every good shake and powder and liquid ready to go for pre and post op. It's just...what I want (and how far has that gotten me??).
  11. Thanks for all your kind replies!
  12. My sister said she'd help me but I realized if my husband takes off the week of the surgery should she take off the week after? (She's planning a vaca. and now was going to do it the week after my surgery). Or...do you only need someone for (GF) emergency/complications? Are you able to get up alone, fix shakes..liquid..whatever...? My husband works only like a 5 minute drive away- would you say that he should just be available for "in case" or should take he take off and how long? I've been fine and today, I started getting nervous. All of a sudden I feel a pit in my throat...

    Eggs!

eggs are my favorite! I haven't been able to have them because of gallstones. (Even though I could eat almost any other fatty, fried food- I guess the cholesterol). So, for me the surgery will actually allow me to eat what I've been wanting- lol.

    Why Pre-Op?

Simple answer- Obese people tend to have enlarged livers. In order to do the surgery they have to work under the liver. The smaller the liver the easier to work in there. You shrink- liver shrinks.
  15. I'm sorry Rootman- what did you say? I was too busy staring at your picture.
  16. I couldn't stop laughing-- you're like the best comedy writer- great timing. So....um......I'll get it back though because I'm a month away. Hey! Thanks for the warning...*snicker*
  17. I backed a week before- 3 years ago. I was to get RNY and was really afraid of the malabsorption issues but went through all the hoops anyway... even though the date was bad for me too. I had a horrible feeling it just wasn't right and I couldn't ignore it- it wasn't like fear, it was like a voice saying DONT DO IT. Then I found out this year -- same weight 3 years later-- that the surgeon I had originally wanted does sleeve AND my insurance now covers it- and probably won't with our new contract next year. So perfect timing. P.S. I made an appt. to start therapy the day I cancelled the operation...because I thought I'll figure out why first. (Now I've come a long way-- but I kind of believe the reverse is better- take out the food then deal- that's when the real issues will come up).
  18. They did a "What Would you Do?" segment on t.v. on a similar thing. There was a person stealing a bike--- tools and all (lock breaker, crowbar etc.) They did the segment in a crowded park. The "thieves" all kept looking around as if they wanted to steal the bike and were furiously trying to get the lock off. 1. White young man- hardly anyone strolling through the park said anything. 2. Black kid dressed EXACTLY the same as white kid- people gathered, said WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!? called the police. 3. Beautiful blonde- they actually kept helping her with the tools. Even when she said things like "well it doesn't reallllly belong to mee" they actually HELPED her steal the bike or laughed and watched not calling police. Looks matter. People have pre-conceived notions. Even a few black women realized the same feelings came up in them and were glad to have been a part of it.. Imagine the black kid's sadness...even though he was an actor in the scene he saw what went on with the other scenarios.
  19. I read about that in this book about the subject and it really bothered me. I'm a very friendly person and for the most part I talk to people in public and always have conversations with them. But, since I turned 40 (well into 40's now) I noticed the "invisibility factor." I had heard about it and never thought it would happen to me. Sometimes I feel ignored and I know it's not my personality. I do think there is a prejudice against "older" women and heavy people. Yep, I think if I knew--- but how will we??? it would definitely make me angry. Funny, I almost posted the same thing recently.

Just A Little Inspiration From Me To You....

Thank you very much- I appreciate the encouragement. Great job on all your success!
  21. Great one again! Darn, I love mine too. I'm sure my shoulders won't mind though. P.S. Mine are also crumb catchers...you know about that I'm sure...looking forward to losing the "table/shelf" aspect of them. (Although where will I put the remote control)?

    Having Gallbladder Out Too?

Yes, I'm getting my gallbladder out the same time. When you lose weight fast it can contribute to gallstones so many Drs. take it out when they do WLS. (I have many large stones). Many yo-yo dieters have them from losing.
