What Do You Want To Do When You Are Healthier?
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also a big fan "Walking Dead." Was this the website where there was a post about VSG being the best operation for a Zombie Apocalypse? Limited food, we don't need as much medical upkeep, they don't want to eat skinny people and we could survive on less food. It was an awesome thread! -

Buy a shelf instead of using my boobs as one (my crumb catchers). -
there's whey protein and whey protein ISOLATE make sure it's the isolate....my nutritionist actually pulled those sticks out and said don't get them because I guess it means (in essence) the "milk" hasn't been isolated. HOWEVER, if you need to live and aren't able to eat then you have to do what you have to do...temporarily.. right? I really hope you get what you need and feel better soon!!

Pre-Op Ultrasound Result Abnormal....ughh, I Am So No Happy!
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Mzluvee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had a benign growth on my thyroid and other what's called "lipomas" on different parts---- including a kidney one. Many, many people have them in all parts of the body. It's called a fatty tumor, is almost always totally benign and very common. Get the testing of course, but like I said sooooo common from the TONS of research I did. -
Omg...vsg Is Being Discussed In Bethenny
Marty McSkinnystein replied to littlebits's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw the commercial this morning, noticed the weight loss (I love Apprentice!) and swear I thought- I bet she had the sleeve- (and promptly forgot to record- so thanks). This is awesome and on the day I went for the last of my pre-op blood work etc. it was just the thing I needed. -
People With Pre-Op Pain Or Big/many Meds.
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I'm told what I take after surgery cannot be bigger than a pencil eraser or it has to be crushed. So here's the issue, if I crush certain meds. that are bigger and put in liquid how can I swallow enough liquid when I hear about not being able to swallow (or drink enough to take all meds.) etc.? If you don't want to discuss here--I'd really appreciate a PM. Thanks!! -
Stomach Size- Thought This Was Crazy!
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my nutrition class I said I know about the whole 85% of stomach removed yada yada but how much volume does a "regular" stomach really hold. She says that after surgery I'll be able to eat 3-5 oz. at a meal, then eventually 5-8 oz. at about a year or so. Most hold 67-135 oz. Say huh wh...huh..whatchu. wh.. wh.. huh..what??? Yep .... 8 oz vs. 135 oz. how's that for a different perspective? I'm still good- starting the liquid pre-op tomorrow. But, I'll tell you I was working that 67-135 at Longhorn yesterday. And loved every minute. Now it's time to get serious and start my new life. with a 3 oz. stomach capacity..oy -

My NUT said it's not coffee- it's the warm drink that does it. Um....okay. I'm not looking forward to not drinking coffee. -
Scared I Will Resent My Husband For Treating Me Differently After....

Won't he just "feed" off of your emotions? i.e. you'll feel sexy, exciting and he'll respond to that. If you look at it that way- it's not his "fault"- it's what you're back to being. Make sense? -
Side Effects With The Pre-Op Diet...
Marty McSkinnystein replied to TinaMari's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Morning of Day 3. I feel much better. Day one I thought I would die. I'm allowed 3-4 high protein, low carb shakes, and a 4-5 from a list of things I'll say below. Yesterday I went shoppoing and got so many choices. I bought all diff. protein shakes at Vitamin Shoppe (including Oh Yeah my favorite), non-chunky yogurt (like Dannon light and fit lemon), those Imagine pureed soups, every sugar free popsicle they make, sugar free pudding and jelllo (that I may once in a while put a dallop of sf cool whip) and I also can have cream of wheat or rice. Honestly, the cream of wheat with cinnamon saved my life last night because it's the only things that feels like it has texture. -
Pre-Op Diet, Shrunk Liver
Marty McSkinnystein commented on dlahouston's blog entry in HOUSTON SLEEVES
night 2-- went shopping today and got SUCH a variety of things so I won't be bored with plain old chocolate shakes. My favorite-- cream of wheat w/cinnamon. It's on the list of things allowed 5 times a day-- with yogurt, pureed soups, sugar free applesauce. I'm mixing it up. I was so depressed earlier today and am starting to feel better. Tomorrow I cut back even more on coffee (everyday I'm going a little less). -

Marty McSkinnystein replied to Vixkey's topic in Food and Nutrition
I like Premier and Oh Yeah (I got it at Vitamin Shoppe). Premier is at the BIG stores Sam's, Costco etc. -
Um.....yeeesssssssssssss. Not the not waking up, but I think any given thing any given moment. I go through moments of sheer terror and total jubilation. I'm a mess. And I'm not.

Beat Me, Beat Me, Ooh Yeah Right There
Marty McSkinnystein replied to msvickee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wait. I'm confused. Are you saying anything would be better, laughing about it, or saying if you get punched in the shoulder it alleviates the pain? I'm 2 days out on liquid diet... I could go for a knock out to be woken up in 10 days. -
Just Say "you Can Do This."
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, it's so emotional. I just called my husband twice to see if he made his train and then started looked online for news stories because he didn't call me back right away. (His phone was in the luggage). When he finally got me I was hysterical and he said "Oh honey, I told you I'd call when I got to N.Y." He felt so bad for me. Tomorrow there are family members in town and I'm going to meet them all and they said well we'll tell everyone we're not having any food and eat before you come. I told them not to worry about me- that's ridiculous- but I am afraid I'll see a buffet of lunch meats etc. and literally start sobbing. Honestly, when I read pre-op diet horror stories I thought well that won't be me since I loved Optifast and tend to do better with NO choices vs. WW type diets but... I guess feeling like it will be this way for so long is why I'm super emotional too. But time passes, and then the grehlin hormone won't be there, and I will struggle to sip.... (haha I was supposed to be making myself feel better and then....). -

littler- I didn't lose the whole 14lbs. based on my BMI so he likes it to be 10 instead of 5 when that happens. Tracey- Thank you-- you said all the right things! It doesn't take much to convince me. Plus just looked and I did lose like 4 lbs. overnight. Really...? I forgot how that happens on a liquid diet. -

Maybe I Shouldn't Do This
Marty McSkinnystein replied to NHJulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cancelled 3 years ago but it was for RNY and now I have the procedure I want and the Dr. I want. The thing I found played tricks on me was the back and forth looking for signs. My thought process: Is the quality of life I have worth having or are there things I may never do that I keep blaming on weight. Have I ever done it successfully and when I did was I happy? Did I gain it back? Am I the best me? ARe people who do this happy? Do the things that could happen based on weight outweigh the things that could happen with surgery (assuming complete compliance with Doc's orders)? And that makes my decision FINALLY kind of easy. Not the things I might go through...but the decision to do it. -
Hot Dog! I Found It!

I love "Oh Yeah" shakes too! (Ready to drink). Also found at Vitamin Shoppe. You can get little bottles or large and can try just one at a time or buy a case. -
Pre-Op Diet, Shrunk Liver
Marty McSkinnystein commented on dlahouston's blog entry in HOUSTON SLEEVES
Started today. I actually feel like I'll be "eating" more healthily than I have in a long time-- with the protein shakes and forcing myself to get in enough water and not eating junk. I have energy today after my first shake and huge glass of water. So I think I'll resign myself, because it's going to happen anyway, that it's awesome and I love it. (Don't worry I'll be back to complain- lol) -
My doctor actually said the sublingual (under tongue) OTC B12's do the job faster than shots...which is quite cool. I then read the same thing online since it sounded crazy that a shot isn't better. So you can just get them at the drugstore. They're in the same bottle as the the pills but are teeny sweet pills that melt away under the tongue. I had to to start them when my blood test showed I'm low on B12 (and D- which tends to go hand in hand I found out).
