Just Got Back From Surgery With Dr.fernando Garcia
Robbino replied to Myweightlostjourney's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was just sleeved with dr Garcia a few days ago. I used ready4achange as my coordinators and am very pleased with the service I've received so far. As for follow-up, I'll have to report on that later, once I'm home and recouping, but so far they've gone above the call of duty. I have no reason to expect nothing less on the follow-up. -
Going Alone To Mexico?

Change is hard, especially one as big as this. It's a huge and very personal decision. You're not alone. I was just sleeved 3 days ago and feel so much relief that I went through with it and didn't back out. I think of it as a lifetime commitment to myself.

With that positive frame of mind, you're certain to reach your goal. Good luck!

I highly recommend "The Expert's Guide to Weight-Loss Surgery", by Garth Davis from TLC's show, "Big Medicine". It's helped answer a lot of questions I have regarding all stages of the process. I especially like the chapter called "The Honeymoon Period," which talks about ways to end emotional eating. Has anyone else read this or have other recommendations they'd like to share? books, blogs, websites?

I'm glad you asked this. I've been doing the same thing, but never thought to ask if it would hurt anything. -

Bmi 20! Sleeved With Dr. Kelly Last November
Robbino replied to sirensiren's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
That's amazing, siren. I can't wait to be in your shoes a year out. -
I'll have to give it another try and watch the temp next time. Thanks.

I agree with everyone else muffin, take those meds! My BP is around the same as yours, and I'm on meds too. If its a cost issue, or because of side effects, your Dr may be able to prescribe something different. I'd hate for you to get down there and have to postpone surgery to get your BP down. Hopefully after surgery you won't need them for much longer anyway.

In the begining I chose not to tell anyone I was having wls. I wanted to process my decision and get use to the idea before telling anyone else. Then my plan was to tell only family, for support, and incase something were to happen. There is always a risk factor when having surgery, and I thought it was a good idea because of traveling. I am also a single parent, and I wanted my older children to be aware of what I was doing, and the changes that would follow. My children were all for it. They were a little nervous, but I was able to put ghem at ease a little when I told them all the research I'd done. Big suprise to me, the rest of my family were not supportive at all and tried talking me out of it. It was mainly about going to Mexico to have the surgery. Then I asked my hairdresser what she thought about going to Mexico for surgery, because she had just recently been sleeved herself. She told me that she actually had her surgery in Mexico but didn't tell many people because she didn't want to hear the negativity. Then I tell my Chiropracter I'm having the surgery, and she says, "Great!" Then proceeded to tell me that she knew several that had gone to Mexico to have it done. By this point, I'm amazed. We live in a very small town in the south. I was really suprised how many people had gone to Mexico for the same procedure. Now I've told several close friends, who are excited for me and supportive of my decision. Almost everyone says they know someone else who's had wls done in Mexico! I'm glad I finally told the ones I did, because I really needed the support group. However, I've opted not to tell any more family.

I actually liked the chicken flavor mixed with hot tap water and chicken broth. I tried using the unflavored in chicken broth, and zapped it in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Wrong thing to do. A mass of white foam formed at the top of the broth, with the consistency of rubber maybe? Terrible.

Mexico Octosleevers! Add Your Name, Date And Surgeon!
Robbino replied to zenoosh's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I fought the same battle with my family for a while. I am going alone to Mexico here in a couple weeks. It would be great to have the support of family, but the lack of support hasn't changed my mind. It's just made me more determined. It's that mentality that will make us all winners/loosers in the end Good luck on your journey! -
