  1. Thanks Much! And the drains dont sound like too much fun but im sure they will be out soon enough! Its a small sacrifice for the rest of our lives!
  2. I was sleeved Monday and today is Friday morning. I'm down 10 lbs from surgery and 50 since the 4th of July! Also, when I went to slowly roll out of bed just now the sharp pain never came! Its only a bit tender. Today's gonna be a good day! Now I just need to work on this dehydrated/malnourished feeling. Yesterday I got 55oz of liquid and 30g of protein but I still feel slightly dehydrated.
  3. Im the exact same! With most sips I burp and I use the gas x strips as well. Im jealous you are having cream soups! My directions say I can introduce the a few days to one week but never got clear direction so im sticking to the one week philosophy. And Butterthebean, I cannot wait till I get to do a 5k and im really going to focus on a sprint triathlon!
  4. Welcome! I started very similar to you. I was 385 when I went for my first appointment, I am 6'4". I am identical to you in health aspects you stated. and I weighed 345 on Monday, when I had my operation. I have had 0 complications and an extremely easy road to recovery. Haven t even cracked my pain meds! I understand your concerns, and the complication rate is very low and you seem liked you would be going in fairly healthy. Always keep in mind the fact you may not be able to keep up and play with your daughter and the unfortunate statistic of how people suffering obesity pass away younger then usual. I don't mean to be depressing about the last part but your quality of life could be so much better with the surgery!

    Pre Op Diet Tips

Mine was 14 days long and I got through it easily, here's what I did.... * vanilla and chocolate powder (4-5 times per day) * PB2 Peanut Butter powder to add to chocolate shakes * I made coffee and cooled it then mixed vanilla powder and caramel SF Torrini syrup in and poured it over ice  * lots of SF Jello * I got sick of chicken broth so I bought a family size can of chicken noodle Soup and poured the broth out then kept adding Water to the noodles/chicken mixed it around and strained it out again x2. I restrained that mixture and used that as broth, way more seasoned! I also added Mrs. Dash for some zip

    Bye Bye Nicotone!

Congrats! I too am 5 weeks today, and the cravings don't come around anymore! It feels good.
  7. All through high school and college I bought nicer designer stuff but out grew it quickly but never had the heart to throw it away. The last 3 years I have been thrifty about all my purchases and I am looking forward to shrinking back into the designer stuff! I went through totes yesterday and found 4 pairs of Lucky Brand jeans with the tags still on them! I found jeans ranging from 48-38 and shirts from 3xl to xl so I am hoping I can carry myself awhile on my old (barely worn) stuff

    Discomfort

I'm still on post-op liquids but I get it while trying to get my water in every now and then. For me a few laps around the living room produces some nice burps!
  9. Haha, I got thretened with the cath also if I didn't pee in an hr. I hoped right out of the bed and stood in the bathroom until I could force something out lol. The swallow sucked but it was super quick.

No, I break it open and smash it up. I mix it with some Water and take it that way. I too was given the prescription version but had already purchased OTC.
  11. I was gagging the entire way back to my room after the test then when I sat down in my room I yacked it all back up. It tastes awful and felt like a brick. But after I got it out it was real easy for me to start sipping my Propel!
  12. I had surgery 10/22 (Monday). I slept most of the morning then focused on walking about 20 min. By the end of my laps I was ready to sleep again. I was discharged Tuesday at noon and have been focusing on sleep/sip/walk. I have not taken any of the heavy pain meds and even the gas isn't bad
  13. Awesome job! Hope your recovery is as smooth as mine! I was fortunate enough to not have a catheter, drain, or blood thinner shots.

    I Don't Want To Shart!

I was sleeved on Monday and starting Tuesday night I have had them about 3-4 times a day. Every time i feel the need to fart I make sure its done in the restroom! You can't play games with the dreaded sharts!

Hey! I was sleeved the 22nd. My advice is to set an alarm every 15 min to stay on top of your fluids and make sure to get out and walk! The Prilosec and gas x has helped a ton. I slept a ton the first 2 days and now on day 3 things are getting much better. Today I drove around and ran some errands. I have not taken pain meds since I got home
  16. I appreciate it! Your right, you don't see very many guys on these boards! I'm looking forward to the scale moving! Now if I could only tolerate sweet drinks I'd be awesome! No propel, crystal light, or Popsicles for this guy yet
  17. Thanks everyone! As far as prepping goes I followed the recommendations from people on the forms and did not use any of it! Was too tired to mess with my phone or laptop. They gave me a lip moisturizer so I didn't use my stuff. I brought gas x but found out walking was just as effective. But I never had the sharp pains people talk about. I am finding it hard to sleep for more then 3 hrs at a time so I take a few laps around my house, sip on some Water and go back to bed. I was cleared for Protein shakes right away but I am not using them cuz it's hard enough for me to get my water in right now. I'm more worried about dehydration then protein right now
  18. We will all do great today! I am scheduled for surgery at 8:30 so I'm hoping they are on time and I get as much recovery time as I can today because I don't want to stay 2 nights!
  19. Im joining you guys tomorrow! Today I made a huge pot of chicken Soup. I strained the broth and froze it and I froze the chicken for when I get to puree. I pureed the carrots from it and froze those too. Im ready and nervous, but I have done everything possible to prepare! Good Luck Y'all!
  20. I went through insurance. I just threw the rest on my rewards credit card then payed it off right away. Doc needed his part upfront, and I need to pay the hospital the morning of surgery

    Fmla (Medical Leave)

My Doc put three weeks on my FMLA/Short term disability but they said the will change it to 2 if I feel I am able to go back.
  22. I wouldnt stress about it! I am 9 days into mine and the first 2 days I had some cheat foods at dinner. I needed to "transition" into the liquids, and from day 3 to now it has been easy!
  23. I lost 30lbs during my 3 mo insurance process, and I started liquids last Monday. So far on liquids I am down 11lbs! My surgery is next Monday, 10/22. The liquids for me were tough the first three days, but now it is just routien. The biggest thing for me to get through it is staying busy and going to bed early (my energy levels are shot). Good luck on the next 2 weeks!

    Smoking

I had to do a nicotine test 1 mo. prior. Quitting sucked (and still does!) It severely hinders healing and is worth all efforts to give it up!
  25. 100% agree! At 26 years old my lifestyle up until the last 3 months has been going out for almost all meals, spending $200 a week on bar tabs, and then going for fast food at 3 AM. Well, my buddies still want to do that and I don't. The last two weekends I have spent lounging by my pool without buddies. It sucks, I need to find new people to hangout with that enjoy more active things. But I also don't want to lose them as friends, but it is hard when a few of them are 24 and still in go hard party mode.
