    Seems Unreal

Casey your post doesn't sound glum to me and I understand perfect where you are coming from. After trying for over twenty years to get my weight under control and failing over and over, it still feels so unreal I'm having great success with the band. Some days I still can't believe I've actually done this but I am so glad I have. My whole attitude has changed and I've embraced this new lifestyle and I know I will get rid of every kilo that has been hanging onto me and I will keep it off. I have just had enough of being so overweight and losing 23 kilos in 8 weeks is all the encouragement I need to keep going. I e even started a running program and surprised myself that I completed it on the first day and this is from someone who hasn't run in over twenty years. Wishing you the success you dream off!!

    So Soon!

As some others have said some have pain others don't. They only pain I had was when getting out of bed the first few days or trying to roll over in my sleep. Apart from that it was more discomfort than pain. Personally I didn't need any painkillers at all but I did lots of walking around the house from the time I got home and continued to move a lot. Only had shoulder pain on two occasions that lasted for about an hour max and I dealt with it by walking, heat pad and laying on my back for about ten mins till it went away. Just remember to move a lot as its important with any type of surgery to avoid any clots. I wish you well on this new journey and a speedy recovery once you've been banded.

    Losing Stage: Food Day

Another muffin tin recipe I make (which I got from that ***** guy show) is this: Cook leeks and mushrooms, I add a bit of garlic to mine, season with a bit of pepper. In a muffin tin line with ham or bacon, spoon some of the leek and mushroom mixture in, break an egg on top and bake till egg is cooked, about 20 minutes. I will eat half and these are so tasty. When frying the mushroom and leeks use a nonstick pan so you don't need to add any oils or butter. I serve it up with either a small salad or steamed vegetables.

    Help Really Bad Gas

It's not gas pain, as elcee has also mentioned. The gas they pump into you is absorbed and got rid of in the first few days. It's referred pain from your diaphragm. I'm nearly seven weeks post op and I will get the pain if I've eaten too quickly or too much. Also walking and heating pads I find relieves it for me. Try slowing your eating down even more if you can and maybe get up and walk around a bit between bites. I wish you luck and hope those pains don't hand around too long, they certainly are not nice.
  5. Home made soups, pumpkin, veggie, chicken, just put them through the blender till liquid. I couldn't do the protein shakes any more after my op. a month of them was enough to turn me off them forever. You have to be careful with the diet products as they do give you diarrhea. To stay hydrated I drank two liters of water a day and chamomile or green tea with no sugar. As long as you keep your fluids up you'll be fine and eventually your bathroom habits will settle. Best of luck to you!!!

    New Nsv

It is a big deal and congratulations!!!!
  7. Just remember to chew chew chew and as some if the others said don't be scared to eat, its going to be trial and error with some foods. Some people can eat red meats some can't. We are all different and it's a learning process as to what things get stuck and what don't. I'm happy to give up red meat as I was never a fan of it anyway. You'll be fine just chew chew chew and then chew chew chew, lol. Some times I feel like a cow I'm chewing so much. Best wishes!

    Sigh, So Little Restriction

I am six weeks post op and I will be going in to see my doctor every two weeks till I get to the green zone. My first fill was done at three weeks post op, had .8mls put in and my second fill was today, .5mls was put in. I have a total of 5.5mls in my band ATM. 4.2 Mls was put in on day of operation. I was told today I have and APL band which holds a total of about 12 mls. ATM I have no hunger nor any desire for food and all I've had is water and a slice of lean turkey breast and had no problems of it going through the band. Let's see what the next few days brings.

    Constipation

Prunes when needed a lots of water does the trick for me. I personally don't like taking over the counter medicine as I have done in the past and then my body tends to rely on it.

    Why Am I Stuck?

Ty for the visual mis73, I had my first stuck episode three nights ago with broccoli, my own fault and wasn't cooked soft enough but even though I take small bites compared to your pic mine are still too big so going to take smaller bites from now on. Mis73 would you happen to have a blog, if so I'd love to read it.
  11. I've lost 20 kilos which I think is just a bit over 40 pounds and I definitely feel cooler. Apparently bigger people are a degree warmer, so my doctor told me. But yes looking forward to an Aussie summer weighing less and fingers crossed not feeling the heat so much this summer.
  12. You are beautiful well done!!!!!

    5 Weeks Post Op

My apologies Donna, I'm in Australia so we probably have different names here. What you are taking might not be working for you and you may need something more effective. To get somac I need a doctors prescription here so it might even be worth making an appointment with your doctor.
  15. You will be fine, I had my first fill today and it was over and done within a minute. You just feel a little pin prick and that's it. My surgeon put a pillow under the small of my back, made me cross my arms in front of my chest and lean forward so he could find the port. Good luck and it will be easy!

    Tummy Talk

I had my first fill today, three weeks after being banded and the hunger I was having yesterday disappeared within an hour of having my first fill. I may be one of the lucky ones that is feeling restriction early. My tummy grumbles a lot too and it can grumble all it likes because I'm not hungry to feed it.
