Vurtual 10K- Anyone In?
Summerrain replied to MiniMi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in!! Don't know if I can do that much in one go but going to give it my best shot. -
To be honest personally the festive season no longer scares me. In the past food was always my focus and Christmas time I'd feel like I was dying by the end of the day with all the food consumed. This year I'm cooking for twenty people and will be making what everyone likes and I will stick with my portion controls and if there is something I really drool over I will have a small bit and be happy with that. This will be the first year in years that I won't be putting on weight from over eating and looking forward more to the company if people I love.

I'm like some if the others, I use portion control on a small plate. Your food does not sit in your pouch for longer than a minute, if it hasn't passed through and you keep eating then you will know about it. That's why we need to wait a minute for eat bite to go through.

I have no problems with fries, hot chips. When my kids have them I've had a couple and my conclusion now is they smell better than they taste. The smell doesn't even bother me anymore, I could have a big plate sitting in front if me and not even be tempted by one. I've found a lot of food I used to wolf down in the past , unhealthy foods, don't taste as good as I used to think they did.

Full Liquid Ideas
Summerrain replied to LizAndrews's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Post op I didn't have any Protein shakes they made me gag. I stuck to liquids by making my own nutritional soups and blending them till they were the right consistency. I'm five months post op and when I see protein powders, shakes etc even on a supermarket shelf they turn my stomach. A month on them pre op was all I could handle. It's still early days if you don't get in all you're protein requirements it's ok that will come with solid foods. -
Welcome to the otherside. I was the same and didn't have a lot of pain or gas, it was just a bit hard to get in and out of bed for about three days but then I have a really high pain threshold. Best wishes on your new journey.

If you're really struggling and really need it maybe try one of those frozen coke/whatever flavor you desire slurpees. They are mainly frozen water with flavoring. Might have to check the sugar/ calories count but better than the carbonation.

I Got A Fill - Now Food Seems To Pass Easier
Summerrain replied to Bracchus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes I was the same for the first few fills, didn't feel any difference. By the time I got my fourth fill I started to get restriction, not right away but within the week. Once I got to my 6 th fill then it was right away. I had 4cc in my band at the time if surgery then first one at 4 weeks then every two weeks, then as I got closer to greenzone every three weeks. I've had 8 in total but they have been very small amounts at a time. Some are lucky and need only a few, like the above poster said be careful because one day you may be fine then the next day restriction sneaks up on you. Something to do with the Fluid in the tubing part finally making it to the band area. -
Wooooohooooo Hit My Goal Today.... 70 Lbs In 10 Months
Summerrain replied to beckyp's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations!!! -
When I've got stuck its a feeling like just below the breast area in the middle. It feels like I have a rock trying to pass through the band. Sometimes it has passed through and feels like a sharp pain, when it won't it comes right back up but that isn't painful, just unpleasant. But it does leave you irritated after the episode and then you just stick to liquids then soft foods till it all settles, usually a day or two if its a real bad episode. Just have to be mindful of bite sizes and chewing all the time and it is pain free to eat. Some advice eat without distraction, small bits of food and chew well. I just needed a good couple if episodes to learn my lesson, mine happened because of distraction. Now my meal time is always distraction free, the world can wait for fifteen to twenty minutes for me to eat. It will happen right away too.

I'm five months out and from time to time get the tired sluggish feeling and am so tired by 6pm ghat I need to nap for half an hour. Usually it will happen if I've forgotten to take my Vitamins for a few days so now the first thing I do when I go to have my first drink is take them religiously. It's still early days for you so as the others have said you're still healing.

Know Your Port!!
Summerrain replied to AngelaLou99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ouch first time I've heard this happen also. Now that I've lost a lot of tummy fat I can actually feel/ sense when the needle hits the port. It doesn't hurt it's just like a sensation. -
Kill Me .. I Think I Ate To Much!!
Summerrain replied to vmarlau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I've eaten too much in the past I don't get pain just an awful uncomfortable feeling higher up in the stomach. Only done it a couple if times because I ignored the satiety feeling but it seems now I've developed a dripping nose as soon as I hit satiety which lasts for about twenty minutes. -
Anyone Losing More Than 50% Weight
Summerrain replied to ashleysuzanne84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told the same, so far I've lost 30% of my excess weight but ill be damned if I'm going to get to 50% then stop loosing, I'm going to work butt of to get to 100% weight loss and prove his statistics wrong. -
Bad Stuck Episode!! :(
Summerrain replied to mommyvega3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's odd to get stuck on juice that badly if youre not to tight. Fluids should just pass right through. Glad it's all settled its not fun and the pain is awful. Are you able to drink now with no problems? When you get stuck episodes the body produces extra mucous to help push the food through and that's what's happened with you and because it wouldn't go through it all came up. Just be very careful now and stick to liquids for the day in case you have irritation till it settles. -
I made all my own soups, never liked the canned ones, you can make any soup you like just put it through the blender, this way you can also make really nutritious ones so you don't get fatigued.

Load up on vitamin c and gargle with warm salty water for your sore throat.
-
Welcome to the otherside and good to hear you're doing well and yes go for that walk but don't overdo it. I was one of the lucky ones too wher I only had a bit of discomfort and recovered very quickly.
-
I do too and am at 7.8 and in the greenzone, I was a 7.5 a few weeks back but because I lost around my stomach I had to get a small fill to put me back where I needed to be.

Don't feel discouraged, it's still early days and the weight will come off, I agree with what you said compared to what we used to eat the weight should fall off. Some if us loose quicker than others but we still loose and all those little losses add up. I'm one of those that really has to work at getting every pound off but it's all adding up. We had surgery so we have to take that into account. It's like a shock to the system. This new tool used correctly will help keep the weight off, hopefully an end to the yo yo dieting. Once you have the correct fill it also makes it so much easier to stick to the rules because it takes away that constant hunger. It's a very emotional journey too, a huge change. Hang in there it will get better as you progress along.
