    What the.....!

I gained three pounds overnight too but am not worried about it as I know exactly what it is. Last night I had a little bit of eggplant dip and it tasted very salty considering I have hardly any salt anymore. Normally I'm up at least three times a night to go to the bathroom and I didn't get up once last night. So the salt in the dip caused some retention. As long as you're doing all the right things as others have said its only a temporary gain.

24 hrs after tummy tuck surgery

WOW What a difference, you look great!!!!
  4. Ok msrhonda you need to take a big breath and relax. The others have given you excellent advice. You are in the healing phase if you feel up to exercising walk and don't over do it, get clearance from your aftercare team about going to the gym. Hunger at this stage is normal, if you need to eat every few hours do so, space out your food, make it healthy, lots if Protein. You can put anything in the blender and mush it up. Again be certain it's healthy. Drink Water, sip all day I found it really helped keep my hunger at bay once it returned. Also keep yourself busy and distracted from food. Even if you get a fill soon it won't necessarily get you into the greenzone, you may be lucky enough but the majority of us need multiple fills to get there and that could be several months. Now is the time to start getting it together and making those mental changes that are part of this journey. I know it's hard, so many of us have and are going through it. If you really want to succeed you need to start making those changes one day at a time. Be good to yourself, let your body heal with rest and good nutrition. You've done amazingly so far with your loss and you should be proud. Best wishes to you.

Finally my first fill tomorrow the 20th

It doesn't hurt, it's like a pinprick and its over in seconds. I don't get any numbing. I get asked to lay down put my hands crossed over my chest and lift my head up, once my port is located I get asked to relax and the fill gets put in. You should be asked to drink some Water and see how that goes down. Being your first fill and depending how much is put in you may find there is no difference. It takes a few fills to really start noticing restriction but then you may be one of the lucky ones and feel it right away. So relax its not that bad and good luck!!

    Vomiting and Scared

You haven't done any damage with a couple of vomitting episodes, just a bit of irritation and you're doing the right thing by going to liquids etc. may I ask how big your bites are? I used to think I was taking small enough bites but until my nutritionist showed me how small my small wasn't small enough. So I don't make the mistake of taking to big a bite I started to cut up my food to the right size bites, about the size of your thumb nail. I wait a minute or more till I'm sure the food has passed through before putting anymore into my mouth. Distractions are what gave me awful stuck episodes so now when I eat that's all I concentrate on, the world can wait twenty mins till I'm done. Try to eat stress free as personally for me if I get stressed the band tightens and I actually feel the tightening. If you are taking small enough bites and waiting that minute between bites and still getting stuck then yes you are too tight.

    I miss sandwiches!

I still eat sandwiches l but have to eat them differently now, gone are the days of taking a bite. Now I pick at them or use a fork so I know how big the bite is. Toasting the bread seems to make it easier to eat too.

    Food Cravings......

Instead of eating the house I spring cleaned it. I went through every room and cupboard. Once the inside was done I attacked my garden, back and front. That part was tough, I just kept myself really busy, drank lots if water and if it did get too unbearable I did have a bit of protein or munched on cucumbers and carrots.
  11. I used to make my own broth, leave it in the fridge overnight and if a layer of fat formed I'd scoop that off and then reheat and drink, much nicer than the bought ones and much less salt too.

    protein

Too much protein can also cause a form of gout, i experienced it about five years ago on a high protein diet and it was so painful. I thought you only got gout from drinking but too much protein can cause a build up of uric acid in your system and cause painful joints.
  13. Earlier today I went and got my hair done, as I walked in my hairdresser yells out OMG look at you ran up to me and hugged me. I had a huge grin on my face because I loved her reaction to my 83 pounds lost so far. There was also another lady there, she is in the medical field and she asked me how I have lost so much weight. Told her the lapband, proudly. My hairdresser said one of her friends had a lapband removed recently because it failed her. So I said why and how did it fail her? She went on to the explain because she didn't change her eating habits, she still ate KFC, pizza, McDonald's, all the wrong foods. She also developed bad reflux. So I said actually she failed the band not the other way around. And I also said and I bet if she was here right now she'd want to slap me in the face because I've said she failed. The reflux part could probably have been controlled with the help of her aftercare team but her mental attitude and other changes was all on her, as hard as it is it can be changed. It's a matter of taking it one day at a time to make those mental changes. Unless someone is ready to tackle those mental changes along with diet changes they will fail then blame everything and everyone else. We have to stop blaming and take accountability for our own failures and mistakes and when we can do that we can move on with a more positive attitude and slowly change, baby steps I always say. For the first time in years I didn't mind looking at my reflection in the mirror as the three of us chatted away and at that point I realised that I'm finally starting to like myself again and actually enjoyed the attention I was getting and I yapped, yapped, yapped non stop, lol. In the past there was no way I would look at myself in the mirror for so long and would stay quiet to shy away from attention. The other lady said you won't fail, you sound so positive and obviously have learnt to work with your lapband and made the appropriate changes., especially mental. She went on to say how I would be a good motivational speaker. For a stranger to say that to me made me realise what a huge mental change I've undergone these last six months. I am actually liking me again and have found myself again. Oh and there is no way I'd ever get up in front of a group, too shy for that but if anyone wanted one on one support I'd give them 110%. The start of the lapband journey was tough especially mentally but six months down the track every struggle has been so worth it and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat, struggles and all!

    Interesting conversation with my hairdresser

Ty all, as a newly banded person, even though I was armed with all the info till you are actually experiencing it it can all be confusing. My success so far is due to a fantastic aftercare team and a lot of people on these forums posting their experiences/ journey. So I really need to thank you all with the info posted out there as well.

    why so tight now???

Actually I'm experiencing this now, my last fill was about two months ago also and I was so ready for a top up about three weeks ago then I got sick and I swear my band is so much tighter now and I've cancelled my top up fills. I'm no longer sick but it feels like I've had more fill.

    Dealing with Plateaus?

Sounds like you're doing everything right. The plateaus are frustrating even though we know to expect them. Living them is a big pain in the butt. About a month ago I knew that I had hit a minor plateau, I did all the right things, I started walking extra and even though I lost a little at the end of every week and kept bouncing back and forth with some pounds I was getting frustrated. Even discussed it with my career and she said to be patient, keep doing what you are doing and give your body time to adjust and the scales will start to move again. I also knew I was ready for another small fill as I was starting to wake up hungry. A few days before that fill I got sick, pinched nerve in my upper left back and on top of it some bug that was going around so I cancelled my fill. Whilst I was sick I developed an acidic stomach, not band related, something I've suffered with since my twenties, being sick triggered it. During that time I had no hunger all I wanted to do was drink cool Water, once I could tolerate some food I slowly started with Soup then moved back to softer foods till I was back onto my normal eating plan. Now I don't know if it was coincidence or not but going back to liquids and slowly reintroducing food seems to have kicked the plateaue out the door and in the last two weeks I have lost 10.7 pounds and still loosing. I've also noticed like it feels like I've had a fill and am hitting satiety on even less food and some days have to make myself have something for dinner. Next time I hit a plateau I'm going to do this abd see if it really gets things moving along again. As hard and as frustrating as it is try not to let it stress you out too much, keep doing all the right things and that scale will start to move again.
