I'm excited for you, Angela! I look forward to reading about your surgery. I'm 40 and thought that maybe I was too old but then decided that I just don't want to be an old, fat woman. I heard someone on tv say, "How many fat 100 year olds do you know? None, all 100 year olds are thin because fat people simply don't live to be 100." I don't know if that is true or not but its food for thought anyways.

I'm the same way, DesertRat. I lose weight so slowly and gain it back so quickly! My problem is that I lose weight all week long but then gain it back with just one meal on the weekend. It's discouraging. I'm thinking that not being able to eat as much will be a step in the right direction. I don't know about you but I get tired of being hungry and thinking about food all the time. I believe that I would enjoy life more if hunger and food weren't such a prominent part of it.

lol, funny! but you're right, none of us are perfect. I posted elsewhere that I was concerned about what God thought about me cutting out a perfectly healthy stomach. A sleever responded by reminding me of the scripture about if your eye causes you to sin then cut it out. I thought that was an interesting perspective. I responded by mentioning the scripture that says that whatever we obey is our master. I'm sure that God doesn't appreciate the fact that I obey my stomach more often than I should. I believe that removing something that often interferes with God being my master is a good thing. Afterall, isn't that what fasting is about?

Anyone Looking For A Great Christian Doctor Or Undecided For Any Reason?
Sansa replied to lighteningbug's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You were so blessed to have a Christian doctor, lighteningbug! I can't think of anything more comforting than having a surgeon that prays about the surgery before taking your life in his hands. That's wonderful! Unfortunately, I don't get to pick my surgeon. Maybe I should start praying now for a good one like yours... -
Prayed About It...well...
Sansa replied to Patienlywtng on my Curves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your thoughts are really encouraging, kcage. Thank you for sharing. I particularly appreciate the part that you shared about making sure that your heart was right before God before the surgery. That's a really good idea. Make sure that I'm at peace with God and then just put the situation into his hands. That's really all any of us can do anyways. -
I see that your surgery is soon, Luwanna. I'm eager to hear about your energy levels post-op. I have a juicer and am thinking about juicing vegetables during my liquid and puree phases. I actually tried juicing for a while before. I had good energy and was actually able to stop taking my medication. However, i got tired of the juice after awhile, quit juicing, and had to start taking my medicine again. I believe that the vegetable juice can help keep energy levels up though. I guess my main concern is that I just won't have enough energy during the water and protein shake phase. Do you happen to know if I will still be able to take my insulin resistance medication initially? or can they just give it to me in liquid form?

Great thoughts, everyone! Thank you for sharing. Like most of you point out, the sleeve changes the relationship with food. I wouldn't be able to depend on it like I do. I'll probably be amazed to find out just how little food that I need to survive. I like the idea of having to make what I eat count since I won't have room for anything more.

thank you for the support, Musharooni and kimmy! You all are really helping to strengthen my resolve! I do need a new relationship with food, PdxMan. Thank you for the thought to mull over. bogeydog, I also have some concern about whether I will really be able to abide by the restrictions?

1 slice of pizza rather than 8 would be nice. Hunger is the reason that the liquid and low cal diets never work for me so it would be nice to get rid of the hunger issue. Thank you! interesting perspective, emlefe...I suppose that my stomach does cause gluttony...I have also been wondering if God would have a problem with it...The scripture about whatever you obey becomes your master also reminds me that my stomach tends to be my master. Maybe its about time that I show my stomach who's boss! Thank you, Queen of Crop. I have insulin resistance that I'm hoping that the sleeve will heal.

Sorry to have posted a common topic but I have since discovered the search feature. It seems to be a good decision for most of you but I never thought that I would make this decision and yet here I am seriously considering it. All of your success stories sure are encouraging! I've thought about the band but I don't want to bother with the maintenance or one surgery to put it on and another to take it off. If I am going to have surgery at all then I'm thinking that I should just get it over with. I'm just wondering if it will bother me that I can't ever have my stomach back?

Thank you, I did and found out the closest MTF to offer bariatric surgery.

Does anyone happen to know how to go about finding the closest MTF that performs bariatric surgery?
