I'm just going by label reading. I'm one year out and we're starting to plan a baby. I found some good chewable otc prenatal with FHA AND extra folic acid. I take 3 instead of two to keep my levels up. Just be careful not to take a lot of Vitamin A. And check with the Ob and your surgeon.

I hate the texture of yogurt but found a way around it by either throwing a little Cheerios in it or I take 1/2 a protein bar and crumble it up in there. I put a little SF Torani Carmel syrup in too and most of the time that's breakfast.

I bought size 3 x tank tops on sail at Walmart to go with this cute little sweater jacket I have. I put it on with my jeans and got all cuted up and made my husband about swallow his tongue. He was like...Ummm I'm not sure we can go out now, you are looking too good. That was the best feeling. The second best feeling was knowing that soon those tank tops won't fit me because they are almost too big. -

We all had surgery around the same time and I have the same issue. I'm down 35 lbs so far. I have went down in shirt sizes and my measurements as far as inches are super duper awesome. I've lost 8 inches off of my abdomen. My doctor already told me that he assumed I would be a slow but steady looser. My thyroid being my biggest foe. I'm really thrilled though because I couldn't have lost 35 lbs in two months on my own ever. I lost 25 lbs last year and it took me 6 months. And then I gained half of it back before surgery. Plus I've had some issues and I know that you've had some issues that others may not have had. It's all in how you look at the big picture. Would you rather average 2-4 lbs per week for weeks or drop 50 off the bat and then stall forever. I would rather go slow but keep up the weight loss over a longer period of time. Don't let yourself get down. We early June loosers are just taking our time!

Me too! I thought I was just being strange but I realized that I'm enjoying spicy food more that I did presurgery. And I've had a few stuck episodes recently but I never get stuck with food that has a kick. I wonder why that is?

I also vary my calories. On more active days I try really hard to get as many calories and as much protein as possible. On less active ones I focus on protein but not nearly as much. I also try to have calories in everything that goes into my body.

My surgeon refers to me as a slow and steady looser lol! I like that in this instance being a looser is a good thing!

So I haven't been on posting for awhile. I crawled into a sad I haven't lost much weight hole. Only 20 lbs down since surgery on 6/3 and sometimes I get bummed when I see people with 40 lb weight loss in the same time frame. At this stage though I'm not getting in all my protein or fluids in still and exercise is hit or miss because I'm having some issues with stomach pain and horrible gas that I can't get rid of. I'm at the surgeons for a follow up. I'm going to see if they will do a panel on me to check if I'm deficient. Maybe then I can have some energy because I seriously don't have any.

I'm pretty lucky that I got a wonderful husband even before surgery. He even knew me in high school when there was a lot less of me. But I had to be a single mom for 3 years and work on my head first before I was ready for him. I wanted stability for my babies way worse than I wanted some a##hat sitting on my couch and treating me like crap or worse being mean to my children. But it took so long to convince myself that just because I was big did not mean I was unworthy of love. Currently I don't have any friends to council on the benefits of this surgery because they are all smaller than me or have already had the surgery themselves. I just hope one day I can tell someone who needs the little extra push to go for it.

One step forward, two steps back

It's funny how different all doctors are. Mine has no restriction as far as temp is concerned. In the beginning I cold only tolerate cold liquids and then I could only tolerate room temp and now they have to be warm but I'm sure I'll end up with cool at some point. Everyday its a new pouch! -

One step forward, two steps back

So I'm just venting today. I've been trying really hard and working on getting my Protein in with food since I got to graduate to soft foods after only a week of puree. Yesterday I took the boys swimming and I was starving when we were done, as per the usual. Aha but now I can get a small cup of Wendy's chili and make it last for two meals. So what I burned off I didn't eat all of it back and then some. The problem came today when I got up and realized that I felt like there was a rock just happily sitting in my pouch. I took my morning meds and went about my day. When it came time to eat I just couldn't force it. Then I realized I was out of my Protein shakes and milk so no supplementing with liquids. So I thought I would push through and eat. I had tuna salad at lunch, an all natural ff hot dog for dinner and I may have managed to sip down about 30 oz of liquid today. It's so frustrating to me because I thought I was doing so well with it and progressing and then I get a day like this where I know that I haven't met quota at all. I cannot expect good results if I don't get adequate nutrition. Plus I just didn't feel super duper today so I think I may have over did with the swimming and all. All I know is today that pouch hates cold food or drinks and I felt a little stuck at one time. Not horrible but very uncomfortable. Yes I know, I have no patience, this is a process, and I just had surgery. But I'm ready to get this weight loss show on the friggin road already! -
I just made tuna salad. Can of tuna, two chopped up hard boiled eggs, and 1/4 cup light colby jack cheese. Lots of protein in that tasty concoction. Took me two days to eat it but it was seriously tasty and didn't give me any issues.

I have no sugar added mint chocolate chip ice cream. I get maybe a tablespoon in my tiny bowl. I have to be careful of the chocolate though because too many chips and I'm not feeling well. I have it in the freezer and I only get a bowl when I'm really dying for a sweet or when the fam is eating ice cream. I feel safe enough eating it because honestly ice cream was never one of my big triggers. I have forbidden anyone to bring brownies in my home ever. That's my kryptonite. As far as the carbs I have no idea what to suggest. What about sweet potatoes sliced up and baked in the oven? If you like them, which I do, and I was already using them as a sub for white potatoes before surgery. Oh and egg face has some awesome "cake" recipes that I haven't tried yet but I am willing to go for it. The reviews are good and there are quite a few chocolate types.
