Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy
angelbabyamy replied to nursemarti's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How is everyone? I had my first fill of 3cc in my band, I guess I have a 14cc band. No problems with the fill. I am feeling pretty good, had a weight loss stall for awhile. I have lost 45 pounds now since my pre-op diet. -
I had my first fill yesterday. I didn't have any fluid in my band yet, he put 3cc in my band. I didn't think it was too bad, he had to try 4 times to get the right spot. I was a little startled because I could feel it as the fluid went in, it was a weird feeling, almost like it hurt, but more of an uncomfortable feeling. I was told only liquids for 24 hours. I feel fine today, but sometimes if I bend over I it's uncomfortable. I think it is my band, but it is so hard to tell. Not feeling as hungry, but still a little hungry. I had refried beans with cheese and salsa for lunch. No problems. I have been burping A LOT more than usual, just air but a lot of burping.

Dumb Question About The Elusive Egg...
angelbabyamy replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This works! I have about 50 chickens and fresh eggs are REALLY hard to peel. I add about 1/4 cup of Kosher salt to the water, bring eggs to boil for a few minutes, turn off heat and cover for about 15 minutes. Then I run cold water over them and add a few ice cubes to the water until they are cool. They peel great! -

Looking For A May 10 Band Buddy
angelbabyamy replied to nursemarti's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel pretty good, more energy. I only have some port stinging at times when my waistband is on my port. I am down 41 pounds since starting the pre-op diet. My weight loss seems to be at a standstill the past week. Up 3, down 3. Not quite sure what to do about it. I am finally able to go to soft foods, yaay! I have been really hungry. I couldn't make my post- op appt because my co-worker took the rest of the week off as soon as I came back. Called my doctor to reschedule and they said if I felt fine, I could schedule an appt. for a fill. Well, it was June 20th, but now my boss is going to a training in Washington that week so now it is the 27th. My surgeon only sees patients 2 days a week. Has surgeries the other days. I am concerned about eating solid foods with no fill. I feel that I need one very badly. I am hungry a lot and do not feel any kind of restriction or full feeling when I eat. I'm worried I will gain weight back. -

I am still on a liquid diet. Supposed to be on it for 4 weeks. I am supposed to have my follow up visit tomorrow, but my boss has family here and was irritated I think because I just returned to work today, so she has taken the rest of the week off. I cancelled my appt and will have to reschedule it. I'm feeling pretty good. I wore jeans yesterday and by the end of the day my port site was hurting, My waistband hits exactly where the port is. Other than that, I feel great. -

I am feeling great! I don't have any pain. Most of my incisions are almost completely healed.Just have lots of bruising from the Lovenox shots. Struggling to not eat food. It is getting really hard. -

No, I don't have diabetes. I am having issues with sleeping too. I have been waking up a lot, even though I take an ambien. What's worse about that is that I have been known to eat when I have taken my pill. I think I ate some Cheetos last night! My husband and son still have junk food laying around here. (Neither one of them is overweight). I have been getting leg cramps every hour. I am having a heck of a time sleeping so I get up and go downstairs and walk around. My BP meds have a diuretic in them and I haven't really ever had to take potassium supplements before although I do have some. They are huge! No way I'm going to try to swallow those. -
I haven't a clue, but this is the first thing that came to my mind. I was banded a week later than you and I wouldn't want to have sex yet. I think the jarring would hurt! http://www.vaginismus.com/vaginismus-causes Good luck, maybe someone else will have an answer!

My port is on the left side exactly under my breast, about half way down before my belly button. It doesn't feel weird or bother me at all. I am 9 days post- op.

Low Grade Fever
angelbabyamy replied to azhoselady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI! Are you using your incentive spirometer? On my second day I had a low grade fever and then that night had chills and a fever that went to 100.6. I wasn't using mine like I was supposed to. I got up and surfed the internet and used it a lot over several hours. Fever went down and never had a problem since. If you are having increasing redness, pain and heat around your incisions, your fever goes up and breathing doesn't help I would call my doctor. I wish you a speedy recovery and great success! -

Hi Heather! No, my port site is pretty pain free now. I have been pretty lucky, it doesn't hurt to sleep on it either. Glad to have another buddy! -

Glad you both are doing well. 13.2 pounds is great! I feel good. Can't really tell I had surgery now. I wish that I could start some foods! My surgeon seems very conservative. I felt very emotional when I started my pre-op diet, I don't feel emotional now, I haven't been sleeping well at night either. -
Congratulations! I was banded on the 10th. I wasn't allowed anything but ice chips and sips of water for the first 24 hours.I had a swallow test the next morning ( that stuff is NASTY!!) before they would let me have anything, I couldn't stand the cotton mouth feeling. I was getting pretty dehydrated before I went home. I think I should have had more IV fluids than I received. I brushed my teeth and rinsed my mouth and the nurses were realy good about bringing me fresh ice chips. I started chewing gum as soon as my swallow test was done. Peppermint gum seemed to help me. I wish you a speedy recovery and great success!

I am confused. The nurses at the hospital said it was fine for me to keep taking my meds.I wasn't sure about that because I had a consult with a pharmacist at my pre-op and they acted like they didn't want me swallowing any bigger pills. I took tylenol caplets this morning because I had a headache. I haven't had to take my BP pills since I had surgery because my BP was averaging 95/60 until today. I was also having episodes of irregular pulse with my pulse going into the 30's since I was in the hospital. Maybe it was the pain meds, but this afternoon it was 126/90 so I took my med- Micardis HCT 80/25.( I am going to ask my PCP if I can only take a diuretic to control it). Maybe I shouldn't be taking the pills? Guess I should call my surgeon's office, I don't have an appointment until the 30th. My band doesn't have any fluid yet. My pre-surgery weight was 329. I am 5'10". I need a new battery for my scale so I have no idea how much I have lost. I work in a health clinic so I was weighing myself at work. Sorry to babble on so much, lol!
