I AM SO COLD ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!. I live in central Alabama so our summer this year was not extremely hot although the humidity was bad. I cannot stand for any element of cold air to blow on my skin. I am stocking up on the cuddl duds and use the heck out of my heated throw. But in all honesty, I am14.5 months post op and I am miserable. I could not wear all the cute summer clothes I bought because of this. we went to the beach in July and sitting in the sun on a warm sunny day felt like pure bliss to me. I hate this and really hope it will resolve itself. I look like freak wearing winter sweaters and leggings under my pants. Please pray for me. I have lost all the weight I needed to but I cannot live with this cold intolerance. it certainly has not gotten better over the summer months.....it has gotten worse if anything. I am so tired ALL the time. I can sleep 8 to 10 hrs and still do not feel refreshed. Most days I come home and take at least an hour nap after work. seeing an endocrinologist in a few weeks to get a complete work up on my thyroid because I do have an under active thyroid and take thyroid medicine for it. last check up I was slightly anemic....so I take Iron. I take a women's multi Vitamin, Calcium with extra d, sublingual b12, and Biotin on top of regular medication.

I am 10 months post op TODAY and getting sleeved was one of the best decisions I have EVER made. I am at my goal and I feel pretty good. HOWEVER, I am always cold. I was cold before I had the surgery and lost weight, but now it is at least 10 times worse. I am wondering if anyone that has experienced this misery has tried using Cuddle Duds or Nikibiki garments? I think thermal underwear would be overkill and bulky and I would probably burn up, but if anyone has tried these garments could you please share your experience? It is 66 degrees today and overcast (in the deep south) and I have been cold, while running errands, I had the heat going full blast in the car....drinking coffee. Going out to see Tim McGraw concert tonight and plan on wearing my Nikibiki leggings under my jeans. We'll see how it goes. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I am nearly 10 months post op and have achieved my weight loss goal. However, I am freezing cold ALL the time. I am still sleeping in flannel pajama pants and sweat shirts, it's getting up into the 70's now here in Alabama. I do take Synthroid for an under active thyroid so I think this could be contributing, but I swear I am so sick of being cold all the time. I could be anemic but I am taking an iron supplement. I know ultimately I need to go to the doctor but has anyone else experienced this? being cold all the time? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Almost 10 months post op. down 70 plus pounds and 10 sizes. feel great. other than being cold all the time. No regrets!!! -
Nevermind guys. I kept scrolling through the threads and came upon one where everyone states that they are colder now. I would like to know if anyone knows for sure if not getting enough protein could be a factor?

Update! 8 months post op....Dr. Garcia was my surgeon.
girlfriday posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Tomorrow is my 8 month "surgiversary". I am at my goal and have lost a total of 73 pounds. Dr. Fernando Garcia was my surgeon. I went from a 16-18 size jeans to a size 6.......yes, a size 6. I am smaller now than I was in college. This journey has not been easy. I will not lie. I only regretted it one time and that was probably about 6 weeks post op and I was staying nauseated. But before I knew it, nausea was gone, I had finally turned a corner and I could drink Water without being nauseated. Could not drink much of it, so don't worry if you can't now, you will most definitely be able to in the coming months post op. I feel life is somewhat normal again. By that I mean, I can eat anything I want. I do not feel deprived. I am not really ever very hungry. Going out to dinner was a big challenge for the first 4 or 5 months. What was the point on spending $15 or $20 on an entree I was only going to eat 1/4 of and box up and bring home and probably not eat because I don't do leftovers well? Eating out with my family seems somewhat normal now. My favorite snack of choice is 2 slices of the Monterey Jack Land o lakes cheese. 2 of those and I am good for several hours. I am very happy with my choice and my decision to go to Mexico and using Dr. Garcia. I have had no major problems and all my labs have been good post op. Slightly anemic, but everything else checks out fine. Be prepared to be in one size one week and a lesser size in another week. That has been frustrating. Trying to not buy too many clothes because I knew I would keep losing. I happily donated my dressy clothes to a woman who was about to have to go back to work after being a stay at home mom and was getting divorced and needed nice work clothes. I do seem to stay colder, but with all the fat gone, I guess that is to be expected. Good luck to you all who are thinking about VSG or have just had VSG or are just a few months post op. Your life will return to normal. Be patient with yourself and don't stress over water amounts and Protein amounts. I have struggled with both and am still alive and well. I did experience some hair loss, but nothing major. I take Biotin for that. I did not have the infamous stall at 6 weeks or 3 months. My stall happened at 6 months and I just reached goal this week. So, it took me 2 months to lose 7 pounds but that was with limited physical activity also and holidays. (There was a point I thought I might not stop losing) Feel free to message me if you have any questions or concerns. Chow for now....... -

God's got this......and yes, this baby was conceived for a reason only known to God. Every person on this planet is here or was here because of God. It may seem like an accident....but it is not really because this is God's plan. -

Right now I am in a 10 and hopefully will make it to an 8 and I will be super stoked. Dr. Garcia = Great Results!!!! I don't think this sleeve is ever gonna stretch some though. -

Calling All Dr Garcia Patients...

I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia July 2, 2012. NO REGRETS HERE. He was wonderful, the hospital staff was excellent and very prompt. It is a personal decision and you have to go with what you are comfortable with. He may not be the most experienced, but he is younger and just installed new laparoscopic equipment that gives him a better visual field during the operation. It's High def so he has a really sharp image of your insides. I have had no complications related to surgery. I am down 38 pounds in nearly 9 weeks. -
Just Sleeved In Mexico

I don't know why people have recently been saying the broth at the Marriott is awful. When I was there in early July, the broth was wonderful and way better than any broth from a can. -
Is anyone out there (I am 6 weeks post op tomorrow) suffering from extreme constipation? I know this is TMI, but I feel like I am so backed up that anything I eat is now just sitting at the top of my sleeve and if I wanted to throw up I could. I can't take this. I am miserable. I am taking stool softeners (2 twice a day). I have held my iron for about 5 days now as well to see if that made things improve.

The Stuff They Don't Tell You
girlfriday replied to Parker's Dad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lots of nausea post op. The doctor determined it was gastritis and upped my Prevacid to twice a day. I also have tums handy and take them in between doses of Prevacid. I also eat one or two saltine crackers to help the nausea. Zofran does not seem to help much. Water does not taste good anymore. I have to have it REALLY, REALLY cold. Not drinking during a meal is VERY HARD and waiting for 30 mins afterwards is torture. Constipation, huge problem for me. If it isn't coming out, then nothing goes in and I am miserable. I can literally feel food sitting just below my sternum. Then I get nauseated. Have recently added colace, 2 twice a day. Also take some milk of magnesia every 2 or 3 days now. Stopped my Iron supplement for now because the constipation was so bad. Very cold all the time. I am probably anemic, I was pre op, so I really need to be on the iron. Hyperactive gag reflex. Certain smells especially nauseated me. It is not all bad though. some days are just better than others. I am 7 weeks post op and finally feel like I have turned a corner. I do have a lot more energy and feel better. I don't regret my decision, I just wasn't prepared for some of the road blocks I have dealt with. It is forever life changing. -

almost 7 weeks post op and my stomach is doing the same thing. tired of it. -
Is there anyone out there that has gone to MX from Alabama? Particularly from the birmingham area? I need to find a new PCP as the one I have is not supportive of my decision at all. Never even mentioned going to MX after she was so blunt about how she felt about it. So bummed.

Concerned About Fast Weight Loss-11 Days Post-Op
girlfriday replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oops.....sorry I did not read down far enough. Glad you got something to help. I am 6 weeks post op and have nausea everyday. I take Nexium twice a day and chew tums if I need to. Hopefully the nausea will eventually subside but it got me really depressed. I just decided that I am going to have good days and not so good days. I still don't get all my protein in and just this week have been doing better with water as long as it is very cold. I use the Unjury and I really like it and it doesn't make me gag. Hopefully those will work out for you as well. Hang in there and good luck. -
