banded in 2003...tons of fills...I am up 30lbs

same thing happened to me last year! i found out that i was taking toooo many Tums before I went to bed (my acid reflux was HORRIBLE). I now only take my priolosec and ONE tums. Not so much aspirating in my sleep anymore

Hello everyone! I am ready to be DE Banded! Who would you use to have it removed? I loved my doctor in Mexico...but after reading the latest posts...it sounds as if he has had a few UNSATISIFIED customers! Anyone else planning on getting theirs removed? I would LOVE to have a buddy having the same procedure!

Hi friends! tell me which doctor you used to remove your band. I just can't take it anymore. The GERD and I asperate in my sleep is killing me. I do not have the money to do it but I JUST have to find a way to have it removed. My original doctor quoted me: $5600 (plus airfare to Mexico) Doctor in Ohio at the Cincinnati Weight Loss Center quoted me at $5500 plus air and hotel Who did you use, how long was the operation and what were your total costs?

Can you tell me about your experience with Dr. Brad Watkins? I need a removal and would like to hear about your surgery

I have had at least 15 fills all under fluro. I get stuck sometimes (i.e. pita bread, mushrooms, etc) but I never get that "full feeling". I wish that I had used that $15000+ on a psychologist instead :frown: Anywho...like all of my failed attempts, I blame myself. I do not encourage any of my friends to get banded...but they do it anyway. Many of them have lost A LOT of weight...

I really would like to know how many have been removed, too. I would say a far greater number than we would be lead to believe. I DESPERATELY want mine removed due to GERD and aspiration...but it costs wayyyyy tooooo much and I am a stay at home mom now (with no income).:frown:

well....it has been 6 years with NO weight loss whatsoever. just didn't work for me PLUS I have the WORST acid reflux EVER!!!!!!!!!!

I DO NOT WANT TO FREAK ANY NEWBIES OUT....and my case is a lot different than the majority....so, if you are brave, read on! Okay! I had surgery in November 2003 (in Mexico). My first fill was in January 2004 with my surgeon...in a hotel room...in Orlando...while he was on vacation! I was sooooo desperate to lose weight that I would have done ANYTHING! How scary, huh??!! Well, I did not feel any restriction WHAT-SO-EVER! By March, I found a Fill doctor fairly close by. Each fill was about $500. I had 5 fills with him over the course of a year. STILL NO RESTRICTION!!! I had insisted on having an Inamed LapBand placed...I guess that he only had the 11.0cm type band (not for sale in the US back then), so that is the one the he surgeon placed! It was made for higher BMI's. I was 220 lbs at the time. OKAY....I never lost any weight! NOTHING...EVER!!! I have only gained 5 lbs though! THIS IS WHY I NEED YOUR HELP: I have found a place that will give me fills (Fill Centers USA). I am going in 1 week. I have lost ALL band rules....eat whatever I want, drink whatever I want (WITH meals, too), don't chew...after sooooo many years, I just gave them all up!!! I do get stuck every so often....if I eat a thick donut, pita bread...but what should I look out for? I have never had "restriction" before. I really REALLY need some encouragement! AND ADVICE! LOTS OF IT!!! Can anyone help? Please don't REAM me out about anything...I have been doing that to myself for all these years! Just supportive advice!!! LOVE, Beth

I will be going to Moultrie September 1st! THIS SATURDAY!!! I have all of my fills (except my very first one) under fluro...so, I am very glad that she does it that way! I live about 45 minutes from Moultrie!

HI! Some days, I love staying home...other days, I can't wait for my husband to get home!!! It's wierd! I am soooooo thankful that I got to take my son to his first day of Kindergarten 2 weeks ago! It was a beautiful moment! My "almost 2 year old" and I have a good time together! I send her to Parents Morning Out a few days a week...and I do stuff at my church while she is there (only 3 hours a day). We started Mommy and Me gymnastics, which I LOVE!!! I am very blessed!

Thank you Pam (drying the tears from my eyes!)! I go next Saturday! If you are spiritual, PLEASE say a prayer for me! SERIOUSLY! My Fill doc was a great guy...but he was VERY inexperienced! I knew that going in! He used to tell me that I was "so cute" and not to worry if I did not lose the weight! He is a sweet talker! "So full of personality...So cute" is what he would say! NO KIDDING! He also didn't understand the band that I had, either! I even brought the box that the band came in that said 11.0CM! GEESH! Thanks for being sweet, Pam! I do not even know where to get started! Maybe a shake replacement once a day??!! GROSS!

This will be the FillCentersUSA test! I have been banded since November 2003. I have never had restriction...EVER...lost NO WEIGHT in 4 years! I have an appointment with Darlene next weekend! If she can do it (after 6 different fills in the past with NO results)...I will praise her and praise her! I will post back next week! WISH ME MUCH LUCK :clap2:

Hi! I was a teacher (7 years) but I am now a Stay At Home Mom! Once a teacher, always a teacher!!!

Tomorrow I will get a new fill from a different doctor! Wish me luck and keep me in your thoughts! If this doesn't work...I'll probably have it taken out!

Hello all! It has been a long time since I visited ANY support groups or websites! I have bascially given up on my band...but it is a new year and time to GET IT TOGETHER! I have had 6 fills with NO restriction...ever! I have not lost a pound and my surgery was in 2003! So, I do not know what it is like to be "filled". I will be getting my first fill in a VERY long time...do y'all have ANY suggestions? I totally eat what I want (except any type of pita bread)...I now drink with my meals! I have lost all band rules from my conscience! I do everything wrong! HELP! Where should I go for a pep-talk?

EVERY fill was done under floro! So, yes the band was looked at every time. It did not leak, either. My fill doctor is very kind but also unexperienced. He would say things like..."You have such a cute personality, you don't need to be skinny." I think that he was trying to be nice because I was spending a small fortune on fills and getting no where! I was banded in Mexico but found a fill dr before I left. They put in an 11cm band...which I read is hard to fill.

At first I watched what I ate..but as time went on, I was back to old habits. I may have lost 10 pounds the first month or so...but once I figured out that I could eat again...I DID! Every year I want to get this eating under control. As a matter of fact, I ran 1 mile every day fo two months this summer! EVERY DAY! BUT...please don't ream me out....but I ate Cookies and milk EVERY night afterwards! The cookies that you bake in the oven!!! The behavioral changes need to come from the inside...I KNOW! It is that I crave sweets SOOOOOOOOO bad! I have no control over it! It is like I am addicted! I smoked for 14 years...and quit cold turkey! I know that I am addicted to sugar! After I eat Breakfast, lunch AND dinner...30 minutes later, I want something sweet! I have NO will power. No diet has ever worked for me (except Phen-Fen). I actually got to a size 4 on P-Fen! Now, I am a size 22 YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
